Hi Justina -- Oooh, I hope you find some relief hon. I think you're doing everything you can. I wonder if the onc can prescribe something to help from the pharmacy to assist in relieving your discomfort? I would ask -- can't hurt!

I'm not experiencing that; actually my #2's are really soft and I don't know if that is an effect of the chemo. First I was constipated and then it turned to really easy coming out, and this is still happening and I'm at day #14. (sorry if this is TMI).  Surprised

Justina -- I'm going for my 2nd AC on Wednesday and am having the same problem!! I have had them before but never like this. Not having hard #2 though so don't know what's up!!  Let's hope things don't get worse with treatment #2. Thinking I may try Epsom salts soaks if it doesn't get better. Sorry about TMI.

Hope everyone is gettin less S/E's as time goes on.  The panic of stepping into that room again is starting to set in.

    Justina,

Me too! Though I have had them before, and these aren't that terrible - yet, at least! I like the Prep H wipes, and plain old fashioned prep H, too. But if they're really bad, I'd check with the doctor. I find I'm better off if I don't sit much, and I'm better off lying on my side than my back if I can. Good luck, hope they go away soon!

    Hi ladies,

Just checking in.  Did #2 of AC on 8/15.  Was told that chemo is cumulative; meaning the SE may worsen because there is leftover chemo still in your system.  Much more achey today and yesterday..  ES Tylenol to the resue.  I did not have this with #1.  I ''kinda' keeping a SE log without getting to wrapped up in it.  I checked back on days 8 &9 last time and I had nothing noted for those days.

Talking about hemorrhoids, this is awful.  I plan to talk to MO the next time I see him.  I do the usual things, plus I have some leftover Anusol-HC suppositories that I have used.  The chemo must change the 'makeup' of the hemorrhoid.

    Hope everyone is doing well.

    Love and prayers to all!

Also, here is the link to those who may need help with a wig -- this organization will pay for the purchase of a new synthetic wig from www.wigs.com after filling out a short 2-page application.

I've ordered one and it's a wonderful thing that they do to help!

Hello-I am new to this thread.  I begin 6 rounds of Taxotere/Cytoxan on August 26, so I guess that I'm a member of your thread.  After chemotherapy I'll have radiation for some time, too. I had surgery on July 22 to remove a small tumor that developed in breast tissue that grew back after I had a mastectomy and 4 rounds of A/C  for a golf ball size Triple Neg tumor in June 2000.  My oncololgist said that I am his first patient to have recurrence in the same breast after a mastectomy.  My new tumor was also Triple Neg, but a different subtype, so my doc views this as a new primary. I was in remission for almost 11 years.  Right now I've been running around like crazy getting ready.  I'll have the port put in the same morning, too - Friday.  Best to all.

    Hello everyone - first post.

I started T/C x 6 on Augest 18th.  I got the Nuelasta shot on the 19th.  The first couple of days were ok, but then on Saturday evening I started feeling sick with some mild/moderate bone pain.  I described it to my husband like a brain freeze that picked a new spot on my body about every 3 seconds.  Each was intense.   Mostly I felt it in my head, jaw, feet, back, chest, hips and pelvis.  I took a Percoset and went to bed.  Fever was mild and less than 100.

Then on Sunday night the fever started about 7 pm and lasted all night long - regarless of percoset or advil.  Bone pain was more intense and was isolated to torso.  But then last night I was in so much pain i was screaming and crying and could not keep still.  Fever and chills to 101.  Called ONC andwas told to take 2 Percoset and monitor temp but that it was likely too early for low WBC.  The pain was so severe it felt like back labor - which I have had!  Went mostly away by morning.

Went in this morning at 9 and the did blood and urine.  WBC low end of normal but urine showed bladder, UT or kidney infection.  I had no signs!  Temp tonight is starting again and so is the back pain.  Anyone with similar issues?  Is this all related to a bladder infection or is this nuelasta?

     I hurt :(

Welcome Flautalee and AshVegas to the forum!

Flautalee: I am very sorry to hear of your recurrance. If I may ask, if you had a mastectomy, where did the new grow? I apologize if this sounds like a stupid question. I'm thinking of you as you go thru your 2nd treatment.

AshVegas: Sorry to hear about the severe pain; I am also on T/C (started 8/10) and had horrible aches/pains that were just mind-numbing. For me, my transfusions are on Wed and I had bone pain from the Neulasta shot on Saturday and it was very specific in the fact that I could tell it was bone pain.  The severe aches/body pain was from the Taxotere (per my Chemo Nurse).  Last Wednesday, my temperature rose to 99.8 and .9, but didn't get above that. I totally understand how painful it was, so I can truly empathize with you. I hope you've turned the corner and feeling remotely better. I also hope the UTI will be under control as well. Our bodies can go through so much during treatment.  Frown

Welcome to our group Fluatalee and AshVegas. This group of wonderful ladies is a great source of information and support.

Day 2 post 2nd AC and I'm feeling pretty good today. Gave myself the Neulasta shot again this afternoon.

I ordered a wig from Good Wishes. Because I'm in Canada, there's a $9.99 shipping charge but the scarves are so nice I figured it was worth it.

I received some sad news today about a friend from work who was diagnosed with liver cancer last October. Sadly, she passed away last night. She was having chemo and responding well but about a month ago her cancer stopped responding to treatment. She was only 40 and leaves behind her husband and 7 year old son. So very sad. I saw her just a few weeks ago and she looked really good. She had just come back from vacation at Disney World. I can't believe she's gone. Life is so precious!

Michelle- So sorry about your friend. Very sad. I don't know if I can go by the "live each day like it's your last" mentality ( I would be forever flying over to tour gardens in England, acquiring kittens, etc) But, I do try to find beauty in each day, because life is precious and wonderful, and sometimes not so much....

Michelleo-so sorry to hear about your friend, very sad.

I can officially say that this treatment SUCKS! My onco nurse said that I might get bone pain from the neulasta, wow, that was an understatement! It hit me Sunday evening and I didn't sleep much. Tylenol and claritin didn't really help, so finally yesterday I took a pain pill. It started in my head and ears and moved down, I couldn't even lay in bed. I had to sit in the recliner. Thankfully I feel better today, just tired. My husband pulled a stupid move and ended up rolling a riding lawnmower over on himself this morning at work! Oh my! I really didn't need anymore drama in my life! Poor guy, 3 fractured ribs! All I can say is he is on his own, I have enough to deal with!! Ok, enough whining, I need to go try to relax. I hope everyone has a good evening.....HUGS Kim

oooh Kim, I feel your pain!!  Next week is looming for me when I do this again.  Did you take the Claritin beforehand or just afterwards when the pain began?  Just wondered if it really helps or not.  Do you have access to a pool/hot tub at all? that did help me only of course it's bad again once you get out.

Sorry about your husband too, wow, hope he's ok, but yes, you look after yourself Smile Hope tomorrow is a better day for you.

Welcome Flautee and AshVegas.... Glad you found our little family, it's a very comforting place for me....hopefully it will be for you too!!!! Ash...your bone pains sound like they were horrible!!! :( can your onc give you any other meds that might help??? Flautee....a mastectomy and than a recurrence in the same place? Wow.... I'm sorry!!!!

Ok...there's a whole lot of us with hemorrhoids....should I put prep. H on my "to buy for chemo" list??? What else for them just incase....I don't know if I'll be able to handle butt pain! I still have to sleep on my backside halfway upright since my BMX....if I lose being able to put any kind of pressure on my backside I'll be "you know what"!!!!!

    Hi girls

Another post today. It's now 3am and I am wide awake. Had second tx today and it was so much better than I expected. Although I have horrible headache and feeling slightly nauseous and can't sleep even after taking motillium, sleeping tablet and tradol. Oh the joys!!!

Koala kid - poor you bone pain is just rotten and can really drag you down. Would you be able to treat yourself to a very light massage to get the innards working. Are you still drinking lots of water as that helps too. I will PM you tomorrow with a few funny stories re relatives having accidents when we go thru all of this together.

Michelleo - huge sympathy to you on the death of your friend. This process makes us all think of our vulnerability but we are a strong group with excellent diagnosis' and are gonna kick C's a**

Vtellen - you are in inspiration to me - thank you for all you wonderful advice and research. The general feel good vibes that you seem to send out are worth a million dollars

Eek wine I hope that you have a relatively S/E round - anusol - hc spositpries are really fantastic - ask your ocn for a script and try them.

I don't know how all you ladies keep up with these posts!  You rock!

Sweatpea - I have my port in my arm as well.  The bruising was outrageous and it was a little painful for the first week or so, but it is find now unless I bump it.  I liked the thought of it in my arm as I couldn't stand the idea of one more scar on my chest or having to deal with straps rubbing on it all day long.

First treatment tomorrow and my mantra is "Bring It".  Thanks for all the words of wisdom.  I don't feel completely scared out of my mind, only midly scared out of my mind.

Off to take my ativan and get some sleep before the big day.  Here's to an s/e free week to all!

Chrys23 and madismommy - thanks for the lovey links for scarves - my hair coming out in handfuls and I am having good fun spending lots of money on bandanas, hats and silky wigs on the net... I may go into hiding from the DH when the master card bill comes in hahah.

Any way night (ish for me) all - hope tomorrow is a beautiful day

Madismommy - you are as us Irish say - a woman after me own heart... I may not be allowed out that much but I can still reach that thing on the top of card statement that DH insists is a limit - I beg to differ - I treat it as a target every month and actually get very upset if I don't make it :-)

Taylor.... If the pain killer doesn't help (it SHOULD!!) I would call in the morning for sure.... Mine was really uncomfortable and hurt for a few days after but it wasn't excruciating.... I was still taking vicodin regularly from my BMX and AND though so it probably never had the chance to scream in pain? I hope it feels better ASAP!!!!

Taylor - I agree with jenn - if you are still in that much pain in the morning pet please call your doc. In this day and age there is no need for any of us to have unreasonable or pain we can't cope with.

Will pray for a better night than u are anticipating

Justina:    I was in agony on Friday night from a hemorrhoid. Saturday morning I hit Walgreen's and bought one of every hemorrhoid product they had. I know I must have looked  crazy but I didn't care. I told my husband it was worth it for relief and a good night of sleep. I think the Preparation H Cooling Gel is very helpful because it provides instant relief and works to shrink the little trouble makers. I also bought the witch hazel, Prep H wipes and Tuck Pads. It's better now but I feel better knowing I've got all the supplies I'll need if this happens again.  Good luck, I hope it gets better soon. Try the cooling gel, it's worth it.
