Just read on FB that Ellie felt it all the way out in Iowa. It must have covered a lot of ground!
I'm just about ready for a Libby Libation!
For the love of pete, now Tim's calling telling me I have to evacuate on Saturday because of Irene. Yeah right ... I'm going to load 3 dogs in the truck and go where?!? Either that or I have to stay in the basement .. well that's not going to happen. I'm not going down there. I just hope we get some rain out of it.
hugs,
Bren

HL is fine. Her DH told me that the hospital called and all is ok in surgery.
-
Sunflowers .. the epicenter was closer to Enjoyful and also Libby's hospital. Actually, maybe about equal distance to both of us.
Okay .. great news Enjoyful. When is your scan this afternoon?

I have a suggestion for a Libby Libation. It's a variation on a drink I learned in my mixology class.
Two oz Blueberry vodka, freshly squeezed lemonade, fresh blueberries.
pour vodka over ice, add lemonade and blueberries. Enjoy. Think I'll have one as soon as I get home.
-
Cherryl, you can be our bartender!
-
Bren
Just read that - first news report I saw online had it farther south - reports National Cathedral in DC damaged.
I didn't feel it in wester ma - but then folks are logging in the woods behind my cabin, and trees falling - maybe one of the "trees" was an earthquake tremor up here???
-
It would be my pleasure, Blue!
-
blueberry vodka - that's new to me, but then so much is
Sounds delicious... -
Hi, while I didn't feel the earthquake myself...others here in Toronto area did. Thank goodness everyone on here is okay!
-
That must have been something in the D.C./Virginia area. Walls shook and a shelf fell off the wall where my son-in-law works. I was busy cleaning house and didn't feel anything.
-
Sending good thoughts to Libby and Enjoyful ... good 'vibes' does not sound like a good idea right now. Yikes! So relieved to hear that all is well in the OR!!
I'm liking the pictures Bren ... thanks for sharing them!
-
Whew -- Enjoyful, thanks for the earthquake update! So glad HL and you are okay! I was in a meeting at work on the 15th floor in Midtown Manhattan and we all felt the swaying -- when we heard it was in VA and the Pentagon was evacuated, I immediately thought of HL, E and BinVA! So glad you're all okay!
Cherryl, the Libby Libation sounds very healthy, what with all the antioxidants in the blueberries...

Sending the gentlest of good vibrations to HappyLibby! Love you!
P.S. WR -- I think "good vibrations" will help to cancel out the earthquake vibrations -- if I'm remembering Physics 101 correctly !!!
-
and yes, where is Otter?
-
Bren, I'm loving the pictures! The "soft-focus" is an old Hollywood trick, don't you know! [Speaking for myself -- the "soft-focus" seems to have given me a facelift!]
-
Smirnoff makes the Blueberry vodka. Absolut's Berri Acai is also good
-
Sending wishes for best results for both Enjoyful and Happy Libby. Also wondering where is Otter?
-
Don't be alarmed! The shaking was the entire country moving to the right.

Be nice...just thought I'd rattle your cages with a bit of humor!

-
The entire country moved into the Atlantic Ocean?!
-
Sink or swim!
-
I just wanted to mention to anybody rocked by the earthquake - check your water heater. The gas connections can loosen, making for a dangerous situation that needs attention. I got this suggestion from somebody who lives in an earthquake prone area and thought it was worth mentioning because those on the east coast aren't used to dealing with this.
Laura - strong swimmer here, but thanks for the warning!
-
interesting - "be nice" - when someone "jokes" about our friends who are in danger. Ah, well, the "interruptions" are rare, thank Dog. Ann - did you feel it in NYC? Got emails from several friends in DC who said it was terrifying - thanks River_Rat for that advice - going to call back friends now.
Wonderful restraint, Blue

-
Alpal - Bartender sends to say that "Libby Libation" is just fine. H/Se will prepare special swizzle sticks, too. Now, what should the drink consist of - besides G & T.
E- PHEW - thanks so much for the update! L's poor DH must have had a mini panic attack for a second there. HL will be SO amused when she learns of what nature has chosen to put in her doctors' paths. I can just see her tell the story, can't you?
And E - fingers crossed for good bone scan results for you.
Oh, the earthquake? Bah! Lionesses do not admit that fear exists. Besides, I was more pissed off because I had to leave work early.
-
Can't wait to hear L's story about "vibrations." Enjoyful - adding more crossed fingers for good results.
Otter - come out come out where ever you are - abalone awaits at BCOB&G. With blueberry vodka.
-
Oh goodie ... Cherryl had a mixology class. We have found our bartender!
I'll have a Long Island Ice Tea please while I wait anxiously to hear about Susan and Libby. RR - I was also convinced to try one of those the same way ... at an office luncheon even. Had no idea how much booze was involved

Hi Sunnyflowers
I believe we are going to have to send out a search party for otter. Hopefully she will check in with us soon. -
Bar is open. Shall I begin pouring?
-
Athena ... did you have to leave work early because of the earthquake?
-
I think she may have been on television - on Nat. Geo. Wild. I saw some lovely otters last night.
Sunflowers - any luck getting the Mods to give you back "sunflowers?" I have been trying to get just "Athena" back so that I can get rid of the 1s.
ETA:
WR - Yes. No comment on company policy.

I will simply say that downtown and Georgetown shops and businesses and parks are bustling along as usual.
-
WR, my introduction to Long Island Ice Tea was at an end of the year PTA luncheon. The school principal was behind this introduction - she knew I'm a lightweight.

Please be sure to check under the sheets after surgery. I hope your doc had a steady hand when the earthquake hit. And you slept through all the excitement. I'll bet you're pi&&ed about that!
