Oh Laurie - what a frightening thing to happen!  Glad you and your family are safe, could have been a terrible tragedy.  Is there anything we can do to help?

    Hugs,

WOWLaurie what a scary experience!!!  Glad you are ok please keep us posted. I think someone up in that big sky was trying to get your attention.

Kay  glad to hear from you and that you are doing well.  Hope you get home soon and getting some good food. Make sure DH pampers you for awhile...you've earned it.

I think we are dining out tonight for a friends birthday...not sure where yet.  Raining here today.

Today we took a ride up to the Maine beaches area and stopped for lobster stew at a place we remembered from years ago.  And then there was the ice cream cone and the blueberry muffin.  Well, after all, I was in Maine and I needed to have a real Maine blueberry muffin.  Very, very nice!

Laurie, that is so frightening!  I hope everything is fine.  I have always been scared of thunder storms.  Now I will be terrified.  You are in my thoughts.

Thanks for the good thoughts everyone.  Home from the hospital, no more hospital food!  Yay!  My sister made eggplant parm and brought it over tonight.  Very nice and very good.  Although, I have to admit Michelle, lobster stew in Maine sounds a bit better.  Especially if  I topped it off with ice cream and a blueberry muffin!  Glad you enjoyed your day.

And thanks everyone for the good thougts and prayers.  As they say, the DIEP surgery is not easy, but it is a little easier every day and was worth it.  Have a wonderful evening everyone!

Can of corn is for dinner.  Heated in the microwave and then mixed with mayo and relish and salt.

Sorry if I'm making anyone feel sick. It was what I felt like when I looked at the ingredients on hand.

That's so scary Laurie, Kay I hope you have something much better for dinner. lol And I hope everyone else enjoyed their dinner

that can of corn.. well, corn is one vegetable that is acceptable canned.  the other is beets, which I abhor.

Bedo...funny combo, but i think going through this (chemo rads etc) is like being pregnant and you just gotta eat what your body is craving...I ate my weight in dill pickles during chemo, it was the only thing that appealed to me.....must be i needed the salt.

Last night i tried one of those philadelphia cream cheese flavored creme sauces...mixed with pasta and broccoli, corn.  Used the santa fe blend and it was pretty good and quick, had it with steak on the grill.

Ended up getting my Herceptin on Fri after the echo (which was ok) and it kicked my butt this time around, dont have a clue why, I usually have no major SE but got a really persistent headache and some mild nausea.

Carberry - I have found that salty things taste best, too, except for ice cream.  I think the ice cream is soothing the hearburn.  I'm off today to get some strong generic Pepcid (famotidine).  I think I'll trade it for the Prilosec I've been taking.  Taxol stimulates a different proton pumper and I am really noticing reflux, so I'm gonna fix that today!  I can take both if necessary, but I'm going to give the Pepcid a try by itself.    Sorry to hear the Herceptin kicked your butt, how many more of these do you have to get through?

Kay - hope you are continuing to heal nicely from your DIEP.  You will be my role model - I really, really want to get that done next year.

I need to hit the grocery store for something for dinner.  Having no clue, it will be whatever looks good in the grocery store.

I made Fried Green tomatoes for lunch today they were so good~ lightly dusted in flour ( if i have self rising flour on hand i prefer that)   Dip in egg whites, then in a crumb mixture of cornmeal and breadcurmbs and a little parmesan cheese- fry in peanut oil or veg oil , (season tomatoes with salt and pepper, a little pinch of oregono before coating in flour)

Tonight Im making a chicken, corn, cherry tomatoes, and zucchini in a cream sauce served over pasta

Laurie- How are you doing? I have been thinking about you, hope you are ok!

Ahhh....Coke....welll, Diet Coke...I actually managed to drink a whole can today over the course of a couple hours, and I think the Pepcid is working.  We had hamburgers for dinner, then I had a mini ice cream sandwich and some grapes.  No heartburn.  That is major-league progress!

    Bedo - good luck tomorrow!

Laurie - hope things are getting back to normal at your house and you are OK.  I think I'd be permanently traumatized if it happened to me!

Carberry - hope you're feeling better today.

I'm going to try to post an update, you are all so sweet thinking of me and your offers for help, thank you! So I'm typing this via phone... During the storm the boys and I headed to the basement because they were nervous. We had a ceiling light out that I went to change. As I was changing the bulb lightning hit our chimney. It knocked me back a few feet along with my youngest son, to the floor. I couldn't even begin to understand what happsend. ost of the electrical in the house is melted. Our water system ended up exploding and we had a foot + of water in the basement. The whole chimney exploded, bricks broke the pool pump, bricks in the pool. It goes on and on. But we are all ok, got checked out at the ER, etc. Very thankful. Also, very freaked out. Who gets cancer and stuck

Wow, Laurie!  I cannot begin to imagine how frightened you all must have been!  You are all so lucky not to have been injured!

Are you in temporary housing or is your house habitable?  I hope your insurance company has put you in something nice and family-friendly!

    Hugs,

    Michelle

debbie6122 - your recipes sound like you are from Missouri.

I'll have to tell you about my old Ozark friend and her cooking after I get the kids up for school.
