Pain in wrist-can that turn into cellulitis?

Hi Everyone,

I am still on antibiotics from the last cellulitius I had in July. Just about an hour ago my wrist on my "bad" arm started to hurt just like it did before my cellulitius kicked in last time. In July it was my wrist on Friday, couldn't even move it. It was better by 12n on Saturday but Saturday evening is when the rash on my forearm started then of course went to the hospital on Sunday after all of you urged me to.

Could this possibly be a sign of something starting again? It is the same exact pain. But I am on a/b's 2x a day still.

I thought you all had so much wisdom to share wanted to check with you again.

Thanks!

Alison, hopefully the two antibiotics will prevent a new bout of cellulitis--boy this has been a protracted bout.

When in doubt, you should feel free to call your doctors, and possibly go in for a check tomorrow, if there's no redness or fever. When in serious doubt, the ER.

Technically, resistance can develop while on antibiotics, but it would be rare.

It's hard not to worry, with all you've been through. I'd just recommend watching it carefully and having a low threshold to call your doctor.

Why does this stuff always happen on weekends??

    Kira

Well, I would have it checked out I have had several episodes where I had a red area that eventually subsided in my hand due to too much typing. My LE Dr. said that fluid pooled. I elevated and laid off the keyboard and within 2 hours it usually subsides. I use the 2 hour rule: better and you can relax...worse and I am grabbing some Keflex.

     Good luck!

Thanks Kira and Moogie, I do type 8-10 hours or more a day during the week. I will see how it feels tomorrow and call the doctor if not any better or returns. I have no redness and no fever.
