bc and wine

I have also been drinking through chemo. I like to drink when I go out which has been a couple times a week, even through treatment. I have one or two drinks each time. So what's that-- maybe six drinks per week max during treatment? Hope I haven't messed myself up.

My onc told me it was fine to drink wine. Of course everything in moderation. I asked him about margaritas, he said that was fine! We were going to the beach for vacation. For every article that says don't drink, there is another that supports it. I read somewhere once that string beans could cause cancer! I couldn't believe it. Never found any supporting evidence, I eat string beans! I enjoy my wine or a mixed drink in the evenings fixing dinner. The wine now sets the hot flashes off so bad I don't drink it much but I will have my limeade vodka with citrus fresca. Sounds healthy..lol. It takes the edge off for me, I like it and I'm not letting BC take every damn thing!

Thanks Foxy.
I like to enjoy myself and don't want to feel guilty doing it.

cheers to you too.I'm not giving up my wine.I have lost people from BC and they did every thing right and now there not here. They ate good no drinking and there gone.So i do what i want in moderation.I have been on tomox arimidex and they made me so sick. Now i'm on aromasin for my last year.then i hit 5 years.....I will not let fear take over me.....enjoy every day the Lord gives you....godbless roxy

roxy I'm in the same boat. I did everything right since I was old enough to take control of how I lived my life. There is no family history or BC let alone any cancer. It was rather disconcerting at first, and I thought "why did I bother taking such good care of myself?" Obviously in the end it didn't make any difference. I have been through and through why and how I could have gotten BC. Bottom line is life is a crap shoot. I still continue to live an enjoyable life in moderation. I have to say that it is really hard to go outside of the boundaries I had/have set for myself as being what I consider to be a healthy lifestyle. I suppose that perhaps things could have been a lot worse had I not taken such good care of my body. I agree with you about the fear. It is pointless. My best to you. Wendy

Cheers Roxy42,
Cheers that you are doing so well! I remember you from the Arimidex thread that you started in 2009. Nice to hear from you. I often wonder how all the ladies are doing. I like your philosophy..enjoy every day the lord brings you!

Cheers! I am a glass of wine while cooking dinner kinda gal too. I chose not to drink during chemo (except once and I paid the price) I didn't want to over load my liver. I have discussed partaking in red wine with my BS and MO and they both agree that either 'a glass a day' or 2 glasses per day on the weekend-only (no more than 7 glasses per week) is fine. My BS believes that it as a "quality of life" choice and if I enjoy having a glass of red wine I should not deprive myself...as long as it is kept in moderation as defined above. I had surgery this past Tuesday and I am still taking pain meds, so I am forgoing my weekend wine this weekend. I'm toasting you in spirit and thought!
