just diagnosed and waiting surgery

edited June 2014 in IDC (Invasive Ductal Carcinoma)

I was diagnosed 7/27/11 having bilateral mastectomy on Friday the 19th of August.  At that time they will test the sent nodes not too thrilled to be having surgery but, I just want it out of me.  I will turn 33 a week after my surgery and will be home and want to be cancer free!

    Ahhh Wanda, so sorry you are joining the club no one wants to join. Take deep breaths and put one foot in front of the other. This website is a wealth of good information and the discussion boards are a place where you can get more information, based on personal experiences. ((((HUGS)))) My prayers are with you!     I was diagnosed this morning and am waiting to hear when I can meet the recon surgeon and then on to the bilat mast.  I never dreamed I would be making such decisions as this in my life but i am putting on my boxing gloves and ready to fight hard.  We are in this together.  Thank you again to all here that can relate to my feelings and ride the emotional roller coaster with me

    Wanda and Mags - Good luck to you both as you begin your journey.  Just take one day at a time.  I approaching one year since my diagnosis and can tell you that it's doable.  Take good care of yourself.  Suround yourself with supporters and just keep putting one foot in front of the other.

    UPDATE...Having double mast on Tuesday the 23rd...pushed doc and got it because I want this stuff out of me asap.  Full range of emotions going on but feeling good about my decision.  Will not be getting recon til later as I feel that this fast track is better with the metaplastic trip neg
