hey ladies, just stopping by.. im sorry you've had to have those conversations, Meece. grown children in your house is hard. i had it with 2 of my 3 sons...
im having a hard time connecting. i've been sick for so long, i can't make church anymore.. i do the tv pastors, and really enjoy one., but i so miss having a church family..
im going to try a new church nearby that is christian; less strict than my last...but seems to have great fellowship. they have a sat. night service, so im gonna shoot for that one.
i know finding the right "fit" can be hard, Meece. i will be praying Matt finds the one he needs...

Joni ~ I am praying for Ethan. Thank you for sharing, what a beautiful little boy!
3jays ~ I hope that the nearby church works out for you. I went to a Saturday night service for several years and loved it!
Have a great Sunday everyone! (((hugs)))
-
Oh that little smile! How touching that he is such a fighter and has His joy! I pray that he and his family rest in the Lord and accept His will.
-
Thank you ladies for your encouragement.
3jays, I will pray that the nearby church is a good fit for you so that you will have more opportunities to be fed.
-
Popping thru for a couple of minutes.
Sending prayers to all the stories that are woven together here.
Barbe. The clover & the bunny analogy is very deep.
Meece praying for you in your 'adult-parenting' evolution. It was hard enough during 'summers' when the kids came home from college. I have no experience w your current situation, but there are others here who have walked that road and have insight.

Hi Garden Girls, Ethan went to be with the Lord at 1:58PM today, just as Faith's transport brought her home from Portland to live out her last days at home. Our community has come together for these children with fundraisers, etc. Amazing.
-
Meece - so sorry for your frustrations. Praying that Matt will adjust to life back in America and in church. Transitions are not easy. Praying things will get better!
I received great news! The stuff in my lungs is clearing up so they don't think it is cancer! Whoo Hoo!! I see the onc in Feb. He said the next 9 months is my highest risk for recurrence and if I am clear then most likely it will not recur! Soooooooooo excited!!!
Praying for you all!!
-
Wonderful news, Grace! What an answer to prayer!
I pray that during this difficult time for Faith and Ethan's families that they will lean wholey on Him. And that those close to them will build them up that their faith will remain strong.
-
Grace ~ That is great news! WooHoo God is awesome!!
Joni ~ Ohhhhh I feel so bad for little Ethan's family and that he passed on. I know he is with Jesus, but can I just say I HATE cancer!! I will definitely be praying for his and Faith's families! And of course little Faith herself!
Hugs to all!

Sad and happy news at the same time. So hard to process!
Hugs to all....

I Can See by Steve Green
All at once He walked beside me
Like He'd been there all along
Not a stranger but a Father
Who can sense when something's wrong
And He answered all my questions
And He understood my fears
That somehow vanished now that
He was here Chorus:
Can't you see who walks with you
Can't you hear who speaks your name
Can't you feel something stirring in your heart
How His words ring strong and true
Like a once familiar strain
Can the paths we follow from now on be the same
I couldn't bear from to leave me
So I begged Him please to stay
Spend the evening, a few moments
Before He went His way
Then like a host He stood and blessed me
Broke the bread and poured the wine
Then I knew there was something there
I recognized Chorus:
Yes, I can see who walks with me
I can hear who speaks my name
I can feel something stirring in my heart
How His words ring strong and true
Like a once familiar strain
And I know I'll never be the same
I can see
And from that moment in time
I felt the emptiness subside
And all the wonder of creation shining through
And for that first time in my life
I really looked into His eyes
And saw eternity and suddenly I knew
Yes, I can see
Chorus -

Beautiful Grace, thank you for sharing!
-
Just popping in to see how everyone is doing?!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Hugs to all!!!

Life is so busy! It must be that way for everyone right now.
Matt is finally making his headway on getting some medical treatment and supervision now that he is in the states. He bought a truck last week, so he is now more mobile. Now we just need to find him a safe place to call his own.
Drew & Beth are bring Patch to CA on Friday. We will be meeting them for a day at Disneyland, then Patch will come home with Grandma & Grandpa while Mommy & Daddy celebrate their 5th anniversary. We are so excited about this!
Work is keeping me on my toes, but I am so blessed to have a job right now. Two of my co-workers are athiests so I would appreciate your prayers for me to exemplify good Christian behavior and to not let my walk falter because of these people. I know for sure that three of my other coworkers are unashamed Christians with whom I can have a good working relationship.
-
Hi sweet ladies...I've posted on this thread earlier, but have been so busy with work that I' haven't had the time to read all my favorite threads. I would appreciate your prayers tomorrow for my son around 3 pm Pacific Standard Time. He has a very important meeting and he needs God's strength, wisdom and grace. Thank you.
-
Good to see you again, evebarry. I will pray for your son.
-
Prayers for your son evebarry.
Meece, I have never known the religious beliefs of people I work with. How did that come around? I don't want to know, as like you fear, I'm afraid it would affect my interactions.
-
Meece - Over the years I worked with several atheists as well as those of many non-christian faiths. Jews and Muslims with whom we at least share the Old Testament and those of several Asian faiths including Buddhist, Hindi, Shinto and others. Almost all were people of high moral and ethical standards, by which they lived, that match my Christian standards and whom I could respect. That is something I can not say about many of the professed Christians I know.
-
I've not been here in a while but this topic interests me. Might I ask if anyone here is of the Mormon faith? If you are willing to share that is. We just recently spent a weekend at the epi-center of that in Nauvoo, Illinois. So very interesting and I purchased several books to read about Joseph and Emma Smith and others involved there so many years ago. Nauvoo is a beautiful city and we saw the pageant there and were terribly impressed by the kindness and friendliness of everyone we encountered. I hope it is OK for me to ask this here. If not, I understand.
I had my checkup and all was well. I'm feeling well and will be having my mammograms in October. We are leaving soon to drive to Maine to visit our daughter and meet our newest grandson. We will be attending his baptizing and 1st birthday party while there.
I would ask for you to please pray for us and this trip. My husbands anti-coagulation issues with his blood clotting disorder are somewhat unsettled at this time which make it an anxious time for us to make a 2 1/2 day driving trip. His Dr seems to be dropping the ball and since he is also my Oncologist, I am going to talk to the nurse today when I go in to get my port flushed. Please pray Dr. will understand our concerns and act on them and that we make this trip out to Maine and back home safely with my husbands clotting issues well controlled.
Hugs,
Juanita

Juanita, Not Mormon, but have several friends who are. Must confess I don't know much about the religion other than the stereo-typical impressions, which of course aren't usually very accurate.
I had a couple older gals knock on my door last night wanting to make sure if I knew if I was "saved". They said they were from some Baptist denomiation. When I said I was sure, the ringleader asked if I would share my testimony so she could tell too. I was a bit taken aback, but I said, "I believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God & he is my personal Savior. I've believed that since I was a child & I've tried to live it since I rediscovered my love for Him 20 years ago, Thank you very much." And she handed me a tract & left! Life is interesting!
-
Meece ~ So happy Matt is making headway and excited for you that Patch and his parents are on their way to see you. I will pray for you at work.
Evebarry ~ Will be praying for your son!
Juanita ~ I will pray for your husband, that the doctor would pay attention to your concerns, and a safe trip to Maine! How thrilling to meet your newest grandson! Have a great time!!
Joni ~ Wow! Did you pass the test? LOL! (Goodgrief!)
Ladies please pray for me. I have a phone interview on Thursday for a job I applied for. Any tips on phone interviews? I know it sounds lame, but this is my first one.
Hugs to all!
-
kcl65, smile. It will come across in your voice. Talk slow, don't interrut. Smile. Think before you start to answer to make sure you are sure of what they are asking. Smile. Thank them for the opportunity to speak with them and the chance they are giving you. Smile. Talk as if you got the job and use terms like "when" and not "if". Smile.
Good luck!!!
Juanita, St. Elmo is the saint of travellers, I believe, or is it Christopher? Hmm, now I'm not sure. But I will ask my God to keep you safe. Joni, I would have said that is between me and my God. What nerve!!!!
-
Well, I thought it was sort of nervy too-for her to assume that she could tell from my testimony whether I was "saved" according to her beliefs, BUT-I decided to just give it right back because if I can't say with conviction what my beliefs are -who's to know? And who will I influence? So I was pretty pleased that she left without another word; I either passed her test or she was in earnest prayer for my "un-saved" soul! I choose to believe I passed!
-
You probably gave a better testimonial than hers would have been!!!! You humbled her....
-
Thanks so much Barbe! Great tips and I will definitely speak in positive tones, as you say when not if!
Joni ~ You did Good!

-
I'm just a lurker here but I lurk regularly and pray for you ladies.
Juanita - I live near Nauvoo, Illinois. I'm not mormon, but I've attended some of the activities in Nauvoo. The sense of family is amazing there!
-
Not a mormon. Can't really comment with any authority. I read a biography of one of Brigham Young's wives, but she left him to campaign against Mormonism. It was an interesting, and most likely biased look into that world in the 1800s. Jwaterlilly, don't worry about what you can ask here.
Barbe, one of the employees is quite contrary. Whenever you say anything, he knows more about the subject, and if you ask him he is always right. I had just attibuted this to him being 24 years old and single. I overheard him speaking with another employee who had said (and I don't know how it came up) that if he died he would not want a child of his to be adopted by a same sex couple. This young coworker went off the handle saying the Bible was written by sexist males and he is an athiest because there is no proof God is real.
I overheard him announce to two other coworkers last week that he was an athiest. I have no idea what denomination these three other coworkers are, nor do they know what I am. It is just obvious that we are all believers by our behavior and the way we talk. We do not go announcing what we are as this young man feels the need to do.
With his know it all attitude it can be hard not to want to explode. It's like have a teenager with you 9 hours each day!

Pejkug3, you are welcome to chime in anytime, we can never have too much prayer and support.
-
Gee Meece that IS hard to hear all day long? It's like he's trying to force himself into adulthood... to prove he's grown up but it just makes him look immature. Is he new?
-
Pejkug3 ~ Thank you for your prayers! Like Meece says feel free to "pop in" whenever you feel like.

Meece ~ That is difficult to be around all day! Life can really knock you around sometimes and that's what will take that know it all edge off. I have a cousin that was like that as a youngster and he has matured into a softer person. Still opinionated, but no longer obnoxious with it.
Evebarry ~ Hope your son's meeting went well!
[Edited to change "had a cousin" to "have a cousin"
