Well cutting it off apparently is not an option, unless you want full relief. Cut it all Off. My twins coach said as soon as it starts to hurt ---cut it off. I paid attention, as soon as mine started to hurt and was falling out every where. We took out the shaver that we used on my son in younger years to give him abuzz. I got the buzz. All off.
Do not use rogaine , in the regrowth process. I did and got a horrible infection. Cannot prove that there was a relationship. But in a do over would never try it again. Just allow it to grow in naturally.

Sandy 115, go ahead and get your head shaved. I used my dog's clippers. I kept my hair through 4 A+C treatments and then 2 weeks after the 2nd Taxol treatment my hair starting coming out in clumps and my scalp was so painful I could not even gently touch with my fingertips. Had to take ibupropen for the pain. Got the clippers out and did the deed and the scalp pain went away immediately. I think losing hair which pulls on the follicles when hair is falling out is what causes the pain. I put coconut oil on my bald head 2 times a day. Good luck, Jayne

Hi,
My scalp was very tender when my hair fell out. Only lasted about 1 week (hang in there!). I also missed the weight and had to wear something on my head all the time. After about 1 month, my scalp is still ghost white but fine. I get a massage every week and the head part is the most wonderful (used to be the back).

Today was my 3rd weekly Taxol tx and my head/scalp is killing me; my hair is being a bit stubborn in coming out, it's been a long, trying process. I found a scalp serum at Ulta on clearance by nioxin and it soothes way all the itching and pain big time. love it and highly recommend it. It has tea tree oil in it which is great for both hair (or scalp) and nails too! -
I had my head shaved (left about a l/4 inch or less) when my scalp hurt. Scalp was terribly painful. It was so good to get rid of the hair.

I never had any head pain. My hair started to fall out right before my second treatment. It started on July 4th. On July 19th I finially shaved it. I used a venus razor. I was tired of the hair mess all the time. I do not wear anything on my head when I am at home, just when I go out I wear something.
