I found a Sexy Mast Bra

I don't know if this is news to others, but it was to me.  I went to my local bra shop because I wanted a pretty, frivolous bra in a shocking colour.  I was compleltely expecting to get a non-mast bra as the mast bras I have seen all look like my grandma's.  Anyway, after trying on lots of bras that met the description I gave the sales lady, she brought me a mast bra and I loved it.  It is purple with white lace-like stitching and comes with sexy panties.  Although the non-mast bras were very nice I decided to go with the mast one because it was so pretty.  and I got the matching panties, but I don't think my insurance will pay for those Kiss.  So I just wanted to share with all of you, the possibility of getting pretty, sexy bras.  I didn't know it was possible.

It is the amoena sina 645

Here is a pic (wish it was of me.... )

Dear Thisisme, thanks for the great pic!  You're so right, that is a very sexy set...I will be calling on Monday to see if I can order it.  I have 2 days of rads left, but after my skin heals that will be a nice little gift for myself.  Hugs, -C

Has she ever gone to Melmira on Yonge Street just north of Lawrence?  It is a very decadent experience and one that everyone should enjoy!  You need to make an appointment.  When you arrive they take you to your change room and your consultant sits with you to discuss what you are looking for.  She then goes and brings about a dozen bras to try on.  They do not have anything out on display.  They are excellent and very, very knowledgeable. We even discussed what size breasts she thought would suit me post reconstruction and other issues.  These ladies have seen it all.  It is kinda like that TV show "say yes to the dress" except for bras.  However, do expect to pay over $80 and up to $200 for a bra.  I also got my forms there.  They also have bathing suits and will sew pockets into regular bras.

Let me know if she goes there.  I usually shop at sears or zellers so this is quite the treat! Peace and Hugs to you and your wife.  I have been following your story on other threads.

She used twice the store in Richmond Hill which is 10 minutes drive from us and they also have a post-mast specialist. However the bras they sold her do look like your grandma's :)

Her insurance policy covers $120 for mast bras annually. So that should not be a cause to not treat herself with a nice bra.

    Thanks a lot!

Doesn't look like they sell on line.  Anyone have any luck with finding sexy post mastectomy products on line?

    kmmd,

Here it is in Mocha, on sale for 39.95.  If they don't have your size, I also found it on the Lady Grace Website, where it's also on sale.

Anita makes some sexy bras also-and they are comfortable.  I also like metromedical.

Also: Nicola Jane sells several styles that are not widely available.  They are based in London so sometimes it takes a couple weeks but worth it.  Not sure what the web address is but if you do a search it should come up.

Thank you for the post. I thought of going into the mastectomy. bra business. I am a full figured women (42D) so it is not fun for me to buy bras or foobs. I wonder why the largest size available is a 13 when I am probably closer to a 15. I don't where tight shirts because I am conscious of the size difference. I do not and can not get reconstruction,so I may go into the foob business. :-)

I posted about this new UK site on another thread (and I've included it in my Helpful Links section on BreastFree), but since this thread is specifically about sexy bras, I thought I should also post it here.

About the Girl is a new company started by a woman who's had breast cancer and couldn't find sexy mastectomy bras. I haven't tried any of the products yet, but they look gorgeous. She is happy to take international orders and by February hopes to have an easier order interface (right now, prices are only in pounds, but you can still order from her). She also plans to feature a line of sexy swimwear, which we could really use!

metromedical does have a few nice ones as does about the girl.  The prices at metromedical are less than what I paid.... but then I did get pampered and waited on hand and foob at my shop and since insurance pays for it anyway....

For swimwear, do check out Lands End.  They have some mast bathing suits, I got one and really like it.

Thanks for the beautiful pic This...are your sure you're not just being bashful, it's really you?  I've been thinking it's time I treated myself to a prettier bra so I'm going to phone my lady on Monday.  She's in Brampton and has a huge selection so I'm sure she'll have it in stock.  For anyone in the GTA it's Dianne's Matectomy.

I've been very fortunate.  I have double coverage and I have been able to get 12 bras a year.  The boutique that I go to charges 60$ a bra irregardless of the cost if it is going on my benefits.  Only once have I paid extra and that was for a skintone sports bra that was really comfy.  I have had some awful experiences though before I found the boutique.  A room at a medical suppy store with a fitter who didn't know how to fit.  A good fitter, but she was located in a walk in closet of a small hair salon.  I just didn't feel good.  Now I go to a lingerie shop that also specializes in Mastectomy bras and prosthesis.  You feel good going there.

Many places will order bras for you even if they don't carry them.  My current fave is Amoena- style Lea.  It is ivory with lace between the cups and lacy straps.  The straps convert to halter orcrossover and it comes with clear straps as well.  It's not a granny bra.

    katehamilton,

I hadn't seen the betty and belle website before -- they have a very nice selection of bras and breast forms (including the Anita 1055, one of my favorite forms). If you live in the U.S. or Canada, you might also want to check out the Helpful Links section of my non-profit website, BreastFree.org (http://breastfree.org), for a list of online retailers . Most carry a good selection of Amoena bras and a few also carry the Anita bras that were on the betty and belle site (Metro Medical Online has a good selection of Anita bras).

I do list one UK site, "about the girl," which carries a gorgeous new line of sexy mastectomy lingerie. They will ship outside Europe.

Unfortunately for some, La Vie en Rose is only available in Canada & they will not ship internationally.

My local store did not carry the Muse line & since I didn't feel like trekking to the nearest larger city centre an hour away, I ordered 2 online to try out.  Sizing was easy since I've had 2 mx now - a real advantage for choosing just what size you want to be Laughing  They were delivered via Canada Post in only 48 hrs - bonus!  I formerly wore an adhesive "light Contact" silicone from Amoena & even though only a size 4, it was still quite heavy in comparison to these.  The adhesive ones can be worn in any regular good supporting bra & do take some of the weight off your shoulders compared to prostheses that fit into a pocket, BUT one distinct disadvantage I found was if you perspire at all in hot, humid weather they lose their "stick" real fast...like when bending over in the garden I'd find it up around my chin when straightening up!  Not a good look LOL. They also take some daily maintenance in "scrubbing" the adhesive pearls so they're not as easy as others to just grab & go.

Each Muse bra comes with *2* gel/microbead prostheses that you can switch into other bras.  I found I could comfortably wear one of the non-underwired styles easily after 4 weeks post surgery if I felt the need when going out.  The underwire style I got did cause some discomfort where it sat on my incision towards my underarm, but that got much better as I healed totally.  I find their shape is different than my own was, but they actually make me appear perkier is all - not a totally bad thing...

The $59.99 price is very attractive to me as well since we no longer have private insurance.  The adhesive Amoena prosthesis is upwards of $400@ now & our provincial assistance only kicks in $195@ every 2 years, with nothing for bras to wear them in at all.
Here's a lovely video (just copy&paste the link)
Well done, La Vie en Rose!

For any one in Canada, La Vie en Rose is currently offering their Muse line of post mastectomy bras on sale:  discontinued colour (blue, pattern & lace) are $14.99 in select sizes & this includes 2 prostheses!  As always, free shipping over $75.

Also offering $25 off any 2 regular priced bras in that line.  When I purchased previously, there was only white, nude & black available.  I love that there is purple offered now, so I'm stocking up - just ordered 6 bras for a total of only $155!

La Vie en Rose Online Sale

For some reason, the $14.99 sale ones (reg $59.99)  will only come up if you type "mastectomy" into the search box.

I gave up on my regular adhesive silicone entirely - would've had to buy yet another prosthesis after my 2nd mx + separate bras at a much higher cost, so am loving the ease & style of this Muse line!
