Hi Ladies,

I'm freaking out a bit because I've found a small lump about the size and shape of a pea in my stomach not far under the skin a few inches from my belly button.

I now have to wait until Monday to call my oncologist to check it out.

But of course, I'm thinking the worst - that the cancer spread to my stomach.

Does anyone have any experience of this?  Or advice?

(I'm currently in the middle of chemo.)

It sounds like it could be a small umbilical hernia.  I had one before and what you described sounds like it.

    Wishing you the best,

    Bren

I thought the same thing....hernia.  They're very common.  Best wishes for a successful chemo and tx.

Put you hand on the lump and cough. If you can feel it popping out then it is a hernia. I have had 3 so I know the symptoms. I hope this is what it is.

If it is a small hard marble-like thing, it may be a little fatty tumor. i have one in my arm near my elbow. It has been there for years. Doctor says no worries.

Thanks Ladies.  I don't feel it popping out when I cough but I think I'll wait until I speak to my doctor before I assume the worst.  My DH came home from work and calmed me down.  I did speak to my chemo nurse and she said not to worry - the body throws off some strange things during chemo.

    Deep sigh.

Well, my GP felt the lump and said it is probably a cyst and referred me back to my oncologist.  So, I guess I will need a biopsy.  Trying to think positively.  Because, I can't imagine how any cancer could grow with all the chemo I'm having.

My sister has the same thing!  She is BRCA2....a previvor, lucky girl but had a scan before preventative surgery and that lump under her skin on her abdoment didn't show up to be cancer.  I'll say prayers for you =)

I am overweight and have a lump in my arm the same side as my cancer and everyone I asked to look at it said it was a lipoma.

Thanks for sharing your experiences Patty, Sherri and Carcharm, I'm thinking positively now and anticipating all is okay.  Still waiting to hear with an appointment.

I give myself injections in my belly area and sometimes get hematomas.  Do you/did you recently get an injection? Neulasta?

Thanks NannyBaby.  That's one possibility say the docs.  Although I didn't have Neulasta injections I did have daily anti-clotting injections in my stomach when in hospital.  With my history of lymphoma I think they want to check it out thoroughly so I'm seeing a hematologist in a couple of weeks.  Hopefully it will be nothing to worry about.

What is Lymphoma? Is it when malignant tumor cells clot up?

I have been taking anticoagulant injections for 5 + months... I remember my onc. freaking out that it could have been a tumor that caused my pulmonary embolism... ?? Is that possible?

Had my appoinment today and my oncologist says not to worry about the lump unless it grows bigger or starts to hurt.

So I'm not going to worry about it.  I'll try anyway.  It's hard because they told me not to worry about my breast lump and a year later it was a Grade 3 IDC.

Oh well, last chemo on Monday and then on to Tamoxifen.
