Sending prayers for benign results for your mom, Penny.
-
thank you lilah.. the one thing I do know is that she does have a hinal hernia and they did biospy a red area close to it. Just stinks that we have to wait until the dr. comes back from vacation to get the results. I will be away for vacation when they come in. I really wish that wasnt the case but Im only a few hours away if Im needed to come back home.
Im so happy its the weekend, work was tough this week and Im taking my girls for a spa day today. We are getting pedis and our hair done before our vacation to the beach for two wonderful weeks!
she saw her onco yesterday and he feels that the lump on her mx side has gotten smaller so that was wonderful news. She is set for another pet scan in sept..
We learned yesterday that a very dear close family friend was told he has lung cancer. It has broken our hearts. He actually went threw school with my mom and we all lived in the same town for many years. They are snow birds now but we all still remain very close.
I hope you all enjoy your weekend with family and friends!
Penny
-
Jenn,
I hope you are feeling better. I just wanted to let you know that I seen what a terrible week you have had. As moms we push ourselves for our family. But please take care of yourself. You are very important too. Hugs.
Penny

Penny - have you heard from the drs office yet? Another thought........I know you said you'll be leaving on vacation when the dr returns. What about calling the drs office and asking that they call you on your cell. Have a great vacation!!! I love the beach.
Lilah - Enjoy your last several weekends before heading back to work.
Last week was a bit rough. The outpatient procedure for my back and chemo would have been plenty, but I ended up in the hospital with cellulitis in my left arm again. I am feeling much better and I think the procedure worked. Keeping fingers crossed....
Hope everyone is doing well.
Jenn

Aw Jenn -- sorry you were suffering but glad to hear that you are doing better!
Have you been able to see any movies?
Harry Potter -- great!
Captain America -- a bit silly but cute
Rise of the Planet of the Apes -- surprisingly good
Cowboys and Aliens -- good
Transformers III -- saw it but forgot it already LOL
Can you tell we've mostly been seeing my boyfriend's first choices lately?
Oh and we saw: Midnight in Paris -- loved it! (my pick)
-
Lilah - Yes, as a matter of fact I just saw 3 movies in 3 days in addition to a few others over the summer...
The Help - enjoyed, good
Rise of the Planet of the Apes - good, but not my kind of movie
Friends w/Benefits - funny silly good
Midnight in Paris - good
Bridesmaids (about a month or so ago) - funny, funny
Harry Potter - of course good
-
Oh my. . . LOL. . . you are all going and seeing these great movies while I was sitting and watching the Smurfs yesterday with my two girls. I'll admit, it was cute. It was pretty much the same Alvin and the Chipmunks story, but wtih the little blue smurfs instead.
-
Jenn,
My mom has a dr. appt with her reg dr on 8/15 and she called him about the biospy that was done and he will see if he can get a copy of it for her appointment. I will still be away but at least she will have some answers next week. I hope you are feeling better. I leave tomorrow for the beach and cant wait!. Hope you all are enjoying your summer.
Penny
-
Penny -- glad your Mom is on it while you're on vacation. I am hoping and praying that the news is good.
Jenn -- glad you're getting out to the movies! Sounds like a great roster you've seen too.
Hope everyone is having a great August!
Wow I just realized it's been 2 years since we all started chemo together.
-
LOL on the Smurfs, Weety. I'm impressed with all the movie going you ladies do. Now that my son is 14 I can drop him off at the mall where he meets up with friends to see things like Captain America and Transformers II. I'm not much of an action movie fan and have endured to many crashing, banging, macho fests. Although I must admit that the Hangover and Role Models rank as two of my favorite movies. I probably would have skipped them if not for him.
It is amazing that it has been 2-years since we all started chemo!
Patty -
Wow! Two years..........it doesn't seem like it's been that long. How our lives have changed and in some areas gone back to where we were before dx.
My family loves the movies, so we go pretty often to the matinee times and prices of course. I rarely pay full price and can't remember the last time we did. The prices aren't too bad, we have AMC Theaters and in addition to the 1/2 price before noon, it's also 1/2 price Mon - Thurs. Then....there is the "Stubs" membership card for which we earn $$$$ for money spent, which is always an extra treat.
Weety/Patty - I love a lot of the kid movies and when I really want to see one, I'll drag my nephews or nieces so that I'm not the creepy adult in a kid movie. And......I get to spend time with family. I also love the Transformer movies, which are normally not my type, but for some reason love them.
Does anyone have fun plans for Labor Day?
Jenn
-
Hi everybody!
Hey Jenn, how is your neck feeling? I've been meaning to ask you, but never seem to have the time to post.
Yep, 2 years for the August amazons......I think I'll stick to looking forward instead of looking back.
Labor day plans......Going asphalt dancing with DH. There is a local fest a few towns over that has the same band (our favorite) every Labor day. The beer/entertainment tent is set up in a parking lot..thats why we call it asphalt dancing. Always a good time for us.
Navy
-
Jenn -- we do the AMC "Stubs" as well -- love it!
As for Labor Day, I am going to end up teaching for part of it (Orientation begins that weekend) so we are going away the weekend before.
-
I don't have plans for Labor Day yet, but am thinking about doing a family BBQ with fun water toys for the kids. DH thinks it'll be too much work for me, but I love doing that kind of stuff and feel like it would be worth it. We'll see.....
This week I don't have chemo and it's my DD#2's last week before going to school. We're going to try to do some fun stuff around town (indoors). I'm really going to miss DD#2............
-
Jenn - What is it you are doing in your avatar? Looks fun! How is chemo treating you?
No Labor Day plans yet for me...still working on the summer vacation. HA!
Patty
-
The avatar is of both girls - they went parasailing while we were on vacation. They said it was sooooooo much fun and they loved it.
Awwww Patty - sorry you haven't had a vacation or mini vacation yet. That just means when you do take one it'll be extra fun.
-
Wow! It's been quite over here.
I was admitted to the hospital again. I was running fever off and on for days ranging from 99 - 100.4, then it hit 102.9 so into the ER I went. Of course I was out of town when this happened and by the time I got to the ER my temp was normal, but I was admitted anyway. They took so a lot of blood running various tests and cultures, admitted me and put me on IV antibiotics. 24 hours later still no fever and the blood work that had come back showed nothing so they let me go home. I was not out of the hospital 20 minutes a few blocks from home when I felt the fever hit, took my temp and it was 102.8. I called my onc on his cell, he said if it got higher go back to the ER, otherwise he would see me today for our appt, but he wasn't going to do chemo. This fever is so weird.........I really hope they can figure it out soon, I am a little worried.
-
Jenn -- so sorry to hear about the fever. How odd that 24 hours of IV antibiotics didn't knock it out -- maybe they should have done 48? I had a similar thing happen to me when I was doing chemo but they kept me in the hospital for two nights of IV antibiotics and then sent me home and I was fine (though I did have some fevers for a month after but it turned out to be, I think, hot flashes from chemopause). Hope the fever passes quickly and turns out to be nothing.
Yeah it is quiet here... I suspect it's the summer keeping us busy. I know that's true for me. Trying to enjoy what's left of it (and get stuff done). Take it easy, OK? And let us know what happens after you see your doctor.
-
I'm here Jenn! I just wrote a long post and my computer apparently ran out of battery and shut off...arg!
The acute fever is weird, hopefully the onc. will be able to figure it out, I'm sure it will be chemo related I bet. I swear it couldn't have happened at home, right?
I am going in for a chest CT tomorrow, routine annual scheduled every August, 6 months after my mammo. I HATE SCANS!!! I will let you know what I find out next week.
I am still read these post from my cell phone automatically, but still can't figure out how to easily post from it???
It's raining here again like it does everyday! Reminds me of when I was a kid and it rained everyday in the summer, it hasn't been like that in years!
{{{HUGS}}} Donna
ps: I have a date with my daughter Thursday, we are going to see the movie 'The Help', That's right ladies; I am going to see a movie in the theater!!! A rare occurrence!
-
Hi everybody. I'm still here, too!! Been busy taking care of FIL that had open heart surgery and Father that had knee surgery and Navyson was home with his family during all that too. Baby is now 15 months old and very busy. We call him octopus arms...he is into everything and moves so fast.
Take care, Jenn. Good Luck Donna....scanxiety is the pits. Enjoy your movie. I haven't been to a theater in years. I live through Jenn and Lilah!
Hugs to all

I'm still here too, but am getting really lazy about posting much. Jenn-I do keep up with you though, and I wish you didn't have to go through more horrible stuff.

Well we are back from vacation from the jersy shore early thanks to hurrican Irene. They have evuacated the island that we were at. It was a intresting vacation to say the least. The day after we got there, they had a days worth of rain and flooded the entire island. Most people were wasit deep in water. A few days later there was a very strong thunder storm and lighting came threw the window and hit the A/C. made the hair on our arms stand right up. On my 25th wedding anniversay we had a earthquake. (I have to say that was very scary). and Now Irene putting a cobosh to the rest of vacation. Glad I have a few more days off to relax a little LOL..
Moms tests have all come back with good news, so there is something to celebrate! woot woot..
We have gotten some bad news about family members and a very close family friend has been diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer and he just had his first round of chemo yesterday.
Then today we got the news that my brothers wifes mother has passed from her lung cancer last nite.
I hope everyone is enjoying the last few weeks of summer., We are in a hurrican watch where I live and we are to be getting 5-10 inches of rain with winds up to 65-95 mph. and sence we live next to the delaware river we will more than likely be evuacated from home as well.
Jenn-- sorry for the set backs and I hope you are starting to feel better.
Hugs to you all!
Penny

Penny - Batten down the hatches!
Navy - Enjoy The Help. Friends are giving it great reviews.
Jenn - What's with that fever? I hope they figure it out soon. How's your back? Did the cement work?
Donna - Good luck with the scans. Everything will be fine, I'm sure of it!
I'm with everyone else...enjoying the last lazy days of summer.
Patty
-
Penny -- wow that is great news about your mom! Sorry about the vacation -- wow talk about the wrath of Mother Nature! I am in the northeast as well and we are bracing ourselves for this weekend's visit from Irene.
Jenn -- please do update us. I hope your fever is gone.
Hugs to all!
-
Let's hear from you guys in the path of Irene! Everybody okay?
Patty
-
Patty -- yes we are fine here in NJ! Had some wetness in the basement (which dried up today -- an absolutely gorgeous day it was too) but were fortunate to have NO power outages, NO trees falling upon us, our house or other things of ours, and no real flooding. The area around us not so lucky... especially with flooding, which has forced the closure of most the major roads around us. Today I swept the driveway and front steps of tons of tiny twigs and leaf clusters (shaken from the trees)... but other than that it was business as usual here (except, that is, for the fact that we can't really leave the immediate area yet -- hoping that will improve tomorrow).
Ugh it's always something!
-
Patty and Gilly -- I think you are the only other ladies from this group who are going to Vegas -- just wanted to say: check in on the Ta Ta Vegas thread and find out who to send a message to re: "something interesting about you" for the meet and greet, if you haven't already. I'm really looking forward to seeing you both SOON!
-
Thanks Lilah - I already did that. Sent a "selection" of tidbits, not having a clue what kind of things were needed. But I have to say, none of mine were very inspired.
-
Its just supposed to be something about yourself that someone would not know / does not know readily -- unusual stuff a plus
"Can balance a spoon on nose" or "walked the entire Appalachian trail" are thoughts... someone posted a list of possibilities.
-
Lilah - new picture - woo hoo!!!
