Hi Tink, Sherry, Paula, June and all you gals. Going to be a busy week and am off to San Antonio on Friday for a 4 day convention. Looking forward to the break from work. On Saturday there is a golf tournament I always have so much fun playing in. I don't know if I will have time to get on the internet - I may or may not take my laptop. Will have to wait and see. Either way, I will really miss you gals over the weekend.

ugh Just lost such a nice post. Shall try again:
June ~ Hope you had a nice day with your mom. I am sure it is hard on you all dealing with the loss of your dear dad. HUGS !
Shari ~ great job on your fundraiser that is such a wonderful thing ! I hope you too get good news at the dr.
JO ~ leave the laptop home and enjoy your golf !!!! I don't have the patience for that but my son is 12 and is really good. He goes to golf camp and is on the town's golf league. I love it ~ he looks so cute in his golf attire !!
Sherry, Tink, Paula ~ and everyone else I hope you have a good week.
I am feeling better thank god, and so glad to get the all CLEAR for 6 months. I can go through the holidays and not worry till February. woo HOO. We also just booked a little cruise for Aug 22nd for 5 days to Canada ~ May not be warm and sunny but we will have fun fun fun anyway. I love cruising !! So I am looking forward to that.
Been having some issues with my mom. She is 75 and I think mental illness is effecting her. It has been on and off her whole life, but she is getting bad. Have to try to get her some type of help but everytime I try she threatens to kill herself. OYE !!
Big hugs girls,
Alicia

Alicia - Another cruise??? Can I go too???
I am not really good at golf but like the idea of being outside and it is something DH and I can go together. We know another couple that are close to our ages and they are fun to spend the day with. We play a round and then have a nice lunch or dinner after - depending on what time we start playing.
I will most likely leave the computer at home.
-
Alicia just when your life is starting to look good, now Mom.....so sorry as I truly feel your pain and know how hard it is......we are here for you, vent anytime. Hugs!!
Jo somehow I don't believe you can live without us for a week as I recall your last trip you still logged on the night before when staying in a hotel.....he he.....you know you will be missed!!!
Shari I am so proud of you and you must f eel fantastic about what you accomplished.....that was a huge amount to raise!!!! Way to go girl.....
Sherry, yoga huh? I wish I could find the time as i know I would love it!! That is got to be why you look fantastic!

Count me in, too, please.
I could use a vacation. Day after my party i caught a bad cold which is now sounding like bronchitis; will have to go to dr today. Yay. Having trouble sleeping which im sure isnt helping. Just passed a year, which i had anticipated as such an important marker yet i am finding myself instead depressed and anxious. Listless and dont feel much like doing anything except maybe crying. My party was a success and now i need to move forward w this fund, and i will, but right now just want to stay in bed for a week. Kids are acting out too in ways that may be normal for young twenty somethings but that, too, feels overwhelming. I feel like i dont want/need this kind of stress right now. Guess you dont get to choose.
Sorry to be such a downer especially w everyone off to great vacations. Really, have fun. Thanks for listening.
All the best, shari

Gentle hugs to you tonight Shari. I am not really sure when we actually "count" our cancerversary, but it often brings more negative feelings than feelings of relief and joy. Maybe it reminds us that this is not a disease we can put behind us like a sore throat or sprained ankle. We have to face it as a chronic disease that has to be monitored. What can I do to help you take at least a mini-vacation? I call my DH the best cabana boy because he serves drinks each evening by the pool or on the porch and we have a little "mini-vacation" nearly every day after work, even if there is laundry or paperwork to do. Spending half an hour with a loved one is much more important. Know that kind thoughts are coming your way tonight.
-
Shari, Like you I could use a vacation. A year ago now I was in the middle of radiation. Some celebrate their "cancerversaries" but not me. Oh, I remember the dates for each important step along this journey. The mamo and biopsy to confirm the lump I found, the diagnosis, surgery, beginning and end of rads, beginning of tamoxifen after a short but horrible try at Al's. Each of them depressed me. This is a long and emotional journey.
-
Shari totally normal to feel the way you do right now and don't ever worry about being a downer as Cancer in any shape or form SUCKS!!!!! That is what we gals are here for. Like Chabba said we all remember certain days or all of the events like it were yesterday and each one brings up those emotions all over again, the Roller Coaster effect for sure......Just when you think you are doing good, Whammo.....a certain day appears when this journey all started, like being diagnosed to starting treatment of some sort to the tiny white pill to those damn constant Dr appts we all have and especially walking into the building marked Oncology.......each one bring on new anxiety for me as well......please know we are all here with you and sending you great big HUGS!!!! You are not alone my friend!
-
I can't tell you how nice it is to read your posts. This is really the only place where I can let my hair down.
I am surrounded by well meaning friends and family, but I've had this attitude (maybe a dumb one) that I didn't want them to worry about me so I never complained. Tried to avoid the subject altogether. I didn't want to be pitied or hovered over so I felt if I looked and acted strong they would treat me normally. This worked in one way (no one got too alarmed, including my kids) but I'm now realizing, maybe not in another. Almost no one here knew I'd had BC. I hardly missed work (my office is in my house and my hrs are flexible, also have a great staff that knew what was going on and really rallied for me.) But I think part of it, lots actually, was that I didn't want to see myself as
that person w BC. I can say it was for everyone else, but it allowed me some denial, too.
And now I think this stoicism is coming back to bite me. I made an appt w a counselor I saw for a while after the mastectomy. I think she didn't think I was ready to 'graduate' back then, but I declared myself FINE and didn't go back. Crying so much today I think I'm getting dehydrated! And
crying about absolutely everything, even the weather! Can't even chalk it up to pms cause my ovaries are allegedly being suppressed. Hope she doesn't have me committed!
So thanks for all of your supportive posts. I love each and every one of them. Really feels good to hear from you. Of course, made me cry...happy to have you guys.
Thanks, shari -
Shari you are not alone. It brings out so many emotions that sometimes it can seem overwhelming. Please remember we are here for you and understand what its like. The emotions do run high. When you get into fight mode and do what you have to do its different. Then when you are able to get your bearings the emotions run wild. No one understands this better then the women around here. Hugs to you and I hope you will be able to find some comfort. I dont know if this will help, but my sissy is a 10 year survivour and she said it does get better.
