coonie, I think it is a seal, but I don't really know the difference between them and the sea lions..at any rate, yes, I was that close to them...no fear I think..they just pull up and and take a nap

We were on the east coast of Canada.Grand Manan island NewBrunswick.Whaling or puffin boats know where to find them.
Today we are in Bar Harbour Maine there is a Nation wildlife refuge here.Just need the weather to cooperate.
