what about wax in wax paper

from what I've been reading the paraffin used is a petroleum product.. shouldn't we avoid this..?   Anyone have additional information on wax paper and it's safety in the microwave?.

    Hi apple, I remember being surprised when I heard wax paper contains petroleum products.  Now I use parchment paper instead, but frankly I haven't investigated what all is in parchment paper.  I'm just hoping it's a better choice until I find out otherwise.

    Wow, really? Is it only bad in the microwave? I started using wax paper baggies to avoid plastic wrap. arg!
