thenewme
This is a tribute to thenewme, who that I feel has been very overlooked and undervalued in the BCO community.
For those of you that do not know her, she has posted in almost every thread of BC.ORG Her posts don't seem to ask for support for herself, rather she seems to give so much to others that are suffering, looking for answers or to give facts to those that are posting unproven methods for a cure. She seems to always be there presenting the truth. She is the voice of reason.
I find this extraordinay for a young woman with advanced localized breast cancer who should be seeking support for herself.
She also will research any subject that seems to come up on these boards, esp. when it deals with unproven methods. I can honestly say that she has the best research skills of anybody that I have seen posting here.
I said it before and I will say it again that thenewme is an asset to this community. To lose her would be a be a huge loss.
I hope she hangs around but I also hope she takes care of herself and her own first before us.
Thenewme long may you run.
Lots of hugs kitten,
Donna

I hope that others post how much thenewm has meant to them.
p.s. if somebody starts hollering copyright infringements, I will personally hunt down Neil and get his approval. He has a ranch not far from were I live and I know that he would agree to having this song of his on this site. As I am sure that he understands the gravity of breast cancer. I am sure that he appreciates that I have certainly raised and donated enough money for the Bridge School, which is his cause. No worries.

I'd like to reiterate what I said in the "Fact Check" post on 4th August, yesterday.
" I'd like to add that I've always found thenewme's posts intelligent and thought provoking and am sad to see her leaving."
I'd love everyone to be more considerate of other's feelings. There's no "us" and "them", we're all in the same boat, some closer to the edge than others.
I recently had a week away from here and when I returned I realised I could no longer sit back timidly and accept the hurtful words and other things I saw going on. I realised I had been successful in befriending many with all different points of view. I'm hoping I can use that respect to try and help when things are getting difficult. A sort of go-between. I care about all the women here so much.
Please ladies, let's all be friends and put support first before opinions.
Hugs to thenewme. I hope you're feeling better soon.

Donna - I really appreciate your post. I consider thenewme to be a good friend and I agree her posts are always sensible and well thought out. I'm a big researcher too, so I appreciate her efforts.
I am a big Neil fan and have been listening to a busker near my work every Friday who plays his songs for me. This has resulted in me walking around all day singing Comes a time, 4 strong winds, Old Man etc - people must think I'm a bit loopy. Being a 70's child - it's bringing back fond memories. Thanks for the link!!

I have also appreciated and benfitted from thenewme's posts. I appreciate her voice of reason during heated discussions.
-
Add me to the list. I am in AWE of thenewme's commitment to sharing valuable information that could help other women. She is, given her own diagnosis, and full schedule of her life, so generous to share her own research with the women on these boards. I was amazed when her work was so harshly criticized. Thank you for starting this thread.
Long May You Run, is right up there for me, with, I Hope You Dance, and Forever Young. All sent to thenewme with a Big Big Big THANK YOU hug

I do hope she returns to us. I miss her intelligence, thoughtfulness, and sound common sense!
-
You can add me here as well. One of the most sensible people on this board.
-
donna, thank you. i've been stewing over thenewme's departure, because i think she was hounded off this board. she was always concise, calm, and caring. didn't back down in a debate, but kept it classy.
thenewme, we miss you already. hope you come back, eventually.

I've always appreciated thenewme's many contributions to the discussions. I wish her well, and say Thank you.
-
i'm a big fan of thenewme.. not so big fan of the hostility that preceded her 'departure'.

What Apple said!
I ♥ thenew me!
-
Add my voice thenewme is so knowledgeable. She has been a great help to me.
-
Thenewme has been a wonderful voice of reason and good sense. She's searching for clues to keep her going -- as we all are -- but she takes the extra steps searching for verification. Thank you, thenewme!
-
I emailed thenewme to tell her about BlackCat's wonderful post - hope she comes to see it.
-
Thanks Susieq. I know that she has been reinstated so she has the ability to get PMs again.
She had emailed me to tell me what happened and had asked that I give her email address to anyone that wanted it because she did not want to lose her friends and had no way to contact them. She was very upset about this.
The good news is that she has been reinstated.
-
I emailed her too - also a pm - maybe she's away for the weekend.
-
Hope you come back, thenewme.
-
Black-cat, what happened to thenewme? One minute I see her on threads and the next there's this thread ... what went wrong?

-
Melizzard, I sent you a PM.
-
I don't understand what happened with thenewme. She always came across as a decent person who did her homework. It is such a shame that she was targeted.
-
I like thenewme ... I hope she comes back!

those gals are probably wallowing in their delight.. ick

I pm'd thenewme during that last bout of nastiness on her post to request a "Fact Check" I thought she was being harassed and attacked. In some of the most contentious boards she was a voice of reason. There seems to be a small network of bully's on here that enjoy stalking and attacking. I hope they have been banned, and I hope thenewme comes back!
-
I've been in email contact - she promised to "check in" today - after ( we hope) all the sp's are gone -- I sent her a link to this thread. Hope she visits
-
hope she surfaces soon.
-
Wow I'm sorry to hear she left. I totally understand why. The stalking and harassing can be annoying, frustrating and stressful for everyone. I have left certain sections of this forum myself because of it.
I'll never understand why these mean girls act this way. It helps no one. I hope thenewme returns some day soon.
-
thenewme wanted to institute her own personal "fact check" plan on BCO to intimidate people from posting. It was not well received and she either took the thread down or the moderators did. This has happened three or four times.
People don't seem to understand there is no such thing as facts, only information which may be facts today and a misconception tomorrow.
Cheers to all.
-
There's no such thing as facts? I studied deconstructuralism with the best of them in the 1980s but my guess is thats not what you are getting at. You have your own facts, by the way. I know you do. So it isn't the idea of facts that you have a problem with.
-
Now, now, we don't want to get into an argument, do we?
Or I'll have to drag out the cancer "facts" of 15 years ago. I'm sure you don't want that.
Blessings to you! If I don't see you kids for a week, you'll know I'm at the beach
-
Oh I love thenewme. She presents facts in an uderstandable way, but now I see why she felt she had to leave. There are no facts? How about women die of cancer. That is a fact.
-
Thenewme wanted to institute a "fact check" plan on BCO to avoid spreading misinformation. It was not well received, most likely by the people who habitually post misinformation, and she either took the thread down or the moderators did.
Some people don't seem to understand that science-based medicine is just as important, perhaps more important, than a lot of holistic/homeopathic/alternative treatments, and that each patient and their disease is unique, and that very few of us on these boards are qualified to trash conventional therapies.
