Alternative or Complementary? Which Forum? Votes Please

Options

I was a little surprised at the choice of threads that were transferred to the Alternative forum and others that were left in the complementary forum.  I'd like to hear from others as to where they would like different threads to go so the moderators can move threads if that is the consensus.

-The thread "Understanding alt med "testimonials" for cancer cures" has an OP by an anti-alternative blogger who is patronising and not compatible with our beliefs even though it's one of his milder blogs.  I don't like the way he's characterized us as not logical in the OP.  We're no less logical than the average person with a wide variety of people of different abilities, just like the rest of society.

-Alternative Health Supporters' Haven is my new friendship thread that I started in the friendship section. I would have included the word friendship in the title if I'd known it would be moved.  I have mixed feelings about it being in the Alt section but as long as others are happy with it and it doesn't start attracting medical talk then that's OK with me.

-natural girls is a mix of talk about both alternative and complementary. It was originally a place to chat that wouldn't attract people in active topics who found our ideas challenging.  I'll leave it to the regular members to decide where they want it.

-The new documentary about Dr. Burzynski and the other Burzynski thread seems more like Alt to me as it's usually an alternative to chemo.  Is this OK with others?

-DCA and Alternative drug to Arimidex as above, probably Alt.

-The Fungal Theory was a controversial thread when it was in full flight.  Again the main contributors may want to decide where they want it.

-I thought there was a thread on the Budwig diet, or FOCC (Flax Oil and Cottage Cheese).  That is generally thought of as Alternative but feel free to disagree.

-The Holistic thread, Alternative.  I thought holistic was more an alternative option rather than complementary which includes things like chemo.

Anything else that people care to have moved, feel free to add your view.  I'm happy that people's choice is being taken into account.

I'd like to add that I'm happy with society's improved attitude to complimentary treatments lately as reflected in the enthusiasm in SusieQ's popular thread, Survivors who have used chemo etc.  I look forward to seeing what people vote for.

Thanks Joy...The fungal theory is the thread I'm mostly interested in right now. It can be alternative and complementary depending on the choice of treatment you choose.

I haven't seen the Alternative Health Supporters' Haven. I will have to check it out.

The Natural Girls seems to embrace both the alternative and complementary.

Burzynski is alternative, but may one day be conventional when approved by the FDA.

Understanding alt testimonies by Black Cat...read a little and decided not to go there ... seems to lean more toward the conventional approach...I wouldn't put that thread in the alternative.

Holistic Thread ... alternative (not intended to be conventional friendly).

The one about conventional and alternatve...right place.

It would be nice here to have a alternative thread without the fear of being attacked or called names for making alternative choices. I appreciate that the bco monitors are cleaning up the threads and making it a more pleasant place to visit. Thank You :)

I think folks should give the semantics a rest.

The fighting is worst when women make inaccurate statements and are cruel or mean spirited. I will still hold, there are trolls on these threads whom the Moderators are unable to exorcise.

I think the very idea of voting is part of the problem with the boards at present.

    Hi Joy,

I thought that thread looked familiar, the one you started as a friendship thread that was moved into the new alternative section.  I think it's a big thumbs up from the mods as an indicator of what kind of tone they'd like to see in the new forum.

As for moving any more threads, I think enough threads have been moved already.  The natural girls thread, for example, is well embedded in my brain as to where it's located.

    yeah really..

just start new threads.  if there are threads that are considered private where members are unwanted.. they could be discussed via private message .. or email.  I don't like exclusion.

Joy, I totally agree with your comments. As usual, they all make sense.
