Good one Chabba!
-
I couldn't motivate to get to the real beach..so went in the back yard
-
Faith - congratulation! That is really a big honor for your book to get.
Chabba - great pics.
Lisa - Wish I had a back yard with a pool. Our HOA won't allow pools, other than the blowup kiddie pools.
-
wow Faith congrats. Isn't it nice when all your hard work pays off. Chabba nice shots.
We are back on the mainland today my DH is after more puffin and eagle shots.Must wait to post photos when I get back to my big computer. We took alot of scenery shots in Newfoundland the birds were very scarce at this time of the year.We were unsuccessfull in finding the Artic Turn or the Pipping Plover for my DH's photo collection. It was quite chilly there the locals were complaining that they never really had a summer this year.Aug to them is already the start to their fall.We spent 2 nights in Grose Morne National park the scenery was magnificent.Photos to follow.

Thanks for the congrats team.
I'm still floating on air. Thanks especially for those of you who were able to navigate thru the crazi prompts to leave a comment on the post itself -- that's a big help!
Yesterday's posts are a big thanks to all of you here at BCO for keeping me sane over the last several years...... complete w my sandy beach (haha: WI sand) writing.
Here's that post: http://rainbowswithinreach.blogspot.com/2011/08/indie-award-reflections.html

Faith I tried my durndest...honest!! I just couldn't get a post to post!!! I used a bunch of different combos but nothin' stuck!!!
Hat's off to those who made it throught the cyber traffic jam that I got caught in!
-
way to go faith..
mum..glad you are back
this little guy can't decide whether or not to jump in
-
mum, any idea what this bird is??
-
It's so weird to see a picture of a fir tree where there are palm trees. Just seems wrong!
-
I took that up north, but we do have pine trees
-
we have mile high mountains 45 minutes away
-
Lisa the bird is a Snowy Egret.Quite common and found all aound the world. There was one in Jamaica that hung aound the Jerk pit waiting for scraps.Very unusual because they usually eat fish. But this one is not fussy.
-
So I'm thinking that bird probably thought that was one nasty tasting fish!
-
Barbe - I had to hit Post 2 times then Preview then Post again to get my comment to post on Faith's page.
Lisa - love the pics of the egret and the other little birdie. Wish I knew what the little birdie was. I may dig out my bird book and see if I can find out what he is.
We are headed to Monterey tomorrow so we will be going to the beach with the grandchildrem while we are there. I'll try to post some pictures while we are there, if not then I will get them when we get back home.
-
The other little bird is a Grey Jay.
-
thanks mum

Weird that blue and orange are opposite on the colour wheel, they look so good together!!! (I know, I know...they're complimentary colours - and for a good reason!)

We have a new Grandson finally!!!! Micah James Meeker, 8 lbs. 11 ozs., 21 inches, born August 6th, 2011 at 1:53 p.m. PST. He was born just as we were taking off from Raleigh to go to Monterey so we did not know until we landed in Las Vegas and could turn the cell phones back on. Mother and baby are doing great. Headed to the hospital in a few minutes. I will be MIA for a while as there is a lot to do around here before they come home. I'll post pictures as I have time.
