DCIS,BILATERAL MASTECTOMIES, AND MORE TESTS

Good Morning,

I have a question.  After recieving more testing to check my implants the doctor saw some cysts in my breast after my mastectomies, but no abnormal calcifications.  Is this normal?  I will talk to my doctor and find out what he means by no abnormal microcalcifications. Can you still have microcalcifications left behind that are not normal?  This is beginning to scare me a bit. Can you still have cysts or can they be new if you are not supposed to have breast tissue left?

    I don't really have an answer to your question but I do know they can never remove 100% of your breast tissue.  That's why there is always a small chance for recurrence with a BMX.  Hope you get some answers.

    It is true that even with a mastectomy they cannot remove every single cell of breast tissue. That said: 

    What I learned from StupidBreastCancer:

    Bodies grow Stuff.  Inside every organ and all over.  Stuff in your liver, stuff in your lungs, stuff in your thyroid, where ever. Cyst stuff, Nodule stuff, tons and tons of Stuff

    And until they start sticking you in machines and looking around and announce "Hey there's STUFF in your liver," you have no idea the Stuff is in there because, well, its just there.  Its not doing squat. 

    Don't panic yet.  All my stuff---and after MRIs and CTs and Mammograms, we are talking LOTS of stuff--turned out to be NOTHING.

    Including the cysts in my liver that I was sure were a sign of immenient death.  Including the cyst in my thyroid that was not cancerous.  Including the nodule in my lung.

    is it possible that he found some fat necrosis which, if I understand it correctly, is just benign tissue that is found in healing breast tissue? Perhaps its near your scars? Or perhaps the cysts are pockets of fluid from the surgery? Definitely don't panic, just work with your doctor to figure it out and breathe.

    The clinic doing the testing sent out a form letter: non malignant calcifications and some cysts seen.  I talked to the nurse in a panic and she reasured me that nothing was seen and the letter is  standard for them.I think its a crazy form letter.  I thought there was something there after reading the report.  I hope all is well with me. Once again thank you everyone for responding to my panic post .  Let see what my oncologist makes of it..

     standard form letters should be banned, they lead to misconceptions

    I was searching the topic "lung nodule" and came across your post. I just wanted to say thank you for the comic relief! I have a 6mm lung nodule that they are 'watching' I am getting close to my rescan date and am once again having major anxiety once again. Reading your post from 2011 has allowed me to relax a bit and laugh! Take care!
