Ellasmom....
I am from Bloomington. My honey (Dave) was from Grandview and his mom is in a nursing home in Springfield now. He comes down quite often to visit her on Sunday afternoons and sometimes I ride along. It's only about an hour's drive, so we're pretty close. If you want to talk, just PM me your phone number and I'll give you a call. Welcome to this thread. The women here are awesome and they'll certainly help you through your journey.
-
WendyTY - I'm so THRILLED to hear your good news. Keep up that positive momentum!
Marina - That laser treatment sounds interesting. I've never heard of anything like it. It's great that you got to visit family a little while you were there too.
Lago - Thanks for posting those nipple links. Now that I'm getting back on the MX/TE bus, I'm starting to think about what to do regarding nipples. I joked to my husband that maybe I'll just get a Superman tattoo done in place of a nipple. He smiled, but I could tell he was worried. LOL.
Robo - Welcome, and sorry you had to join us. I notice that we have very similar tumor stats, and you are 6 years to the month after me.
EllasMom - Welcome to you too! There are ladies scattered all over this state. I'm sure someone is in your vicinity.
Joan - Belated condolences on your aunt's passing.
Jackie - You really are Maggie's angel. Which doesn't surprise me.
Wendy - Wow, DH gets bonus points for the hair comment!
mdg - I've always wanted to see the Outer Banks. I'd love to read a trip report after you return.
I'm still sorting out the details of my upcoming surgeries. I was almost going to wait until January, until I realized that my max out-of-pocket was close enough to being met that it makes more sense to do it this year. I'm hoping to schedule it the week after I return from my Labor Day trip to LA with my daughter.
It's been a long time since I did my rt. MX and I honestly can't remember this. So, how long was it between the MX/TE and the exchange for everyone?
-
My BMX was Aug 31st. Exchange was June 24th but I did chemo in between. My PS wouldn't do expansions during chemo. He wouldn't even start the expansions again till he got the OK (white counts were normal) from my onc. Not that I ever had a white count problem. I was scheduled for April 13th but then I got shingles so I had to wait.
So that makes about10 months. Shouldn't normally take that long if you don't have chemo or rads.
-
YUM Lago, both those look really good!!! Sun Wah interested me with the hanging animals, were those pigs??? Lol. And they have their take out menu also listed in Chinese....gotta be good!!!!
Hi Rene....I joke with my DH that I'm ok not getting replacement nipples....surprisingly I don't miss them??? I might actually order from Lago's linky to see what I'm feeling, BUT I'm a ways from my exchange and nipples....I start chemo this month. BOO!!
My long awaited boomerang pillow came today, could it be the miracle I've been looking for?? And Lago, it came with a plain white L shaped pillowcase..cotton and actually after I washed it is pretty soft. we'll see how it goes or I'm gonna boomerang it out into my front yard!!!
I wig shop tomorrow afternoon.... Not really looking forward to it. I have a feeling I'll need a xanax and a good cry!!!!! I also go get another fill at the PS in the morning, probably another 50 cc's, seems like all I can handle at one time.
So, I *think* my DH and DD and I might go to Naples, FL this February to celebrate the end of my chemo???? DH and I are discussing now, I have family (my grandma) there with plenty of space....I think I might need it after my next 6 months? -
Madmom my expansions were 50cc too. The one time they went "a tablespoon" more I was popping the Aleve for 2-3 days… and I'm the gal that did no meds after BMX, no tylenol or pain pump, nada.
Hanging animals are usually ducks, squid and chicken. No squid in that photo though. Sometimes they have a huge suckling pig too.
-
Rene23: I had BMX in June of 09 and exchange March of 2010. Onc said I had to wait at least one month after last chemo tx but I waited longer. I just needed a break. Just now looking into finishing the process. 3D tattoos scheduled-- 1st appt of 3 in September.

Hi Robo.... I'm hoping for a start date the week of august 22....I take my stepson to college on Aug 16/17 so I need to do that first. I have my Muga scan a week from today!!! My pillow helped some, I slept from midnight til about 5:30 nonstop, than it was restless.... I'll keep it!
Lago, I'll try that....
New all time record for in and out of the shower.....(my showers have averaged about an hour start to finish since my BMX and AND).....30 minutes, woo HOO!!!!! So glad I ditched a little hair last week. (still wanna keep what I have though!)
I'm off soon to pump up my foobies.....driving myself, another milestone!!!
Great days to all! -
watching "american greed" on cnbc world-channel 137 on comcast. greedy ass pharmacist robert courtney diluted chemo drugs taxol and (another one can't recall name). an onc caught on to his game and turned him in to the fbi. they asked why he did it and is said "greed." boy is my blood boiling!
edited to say that it was over 72 drugs...for cancer, diabetes..fertility..etc.
-
Since I have two less parts to wash, my showers are real fast!
LOLNever heard of Robert Courtney...scary!

Good afternoon everyone! I hope everyone is doing well today!
madismommy, I hope the wig shopping went well today. It can be such an emotional thing. As soon as I learned that I would be doing chemo, I went to the local wig shop to just "look around." As soon as I got inside the door, I just started to cry. This really nice sales gal gave me a hug and told me that it often helps to bring a friend. I left without really looking. As it turned out, I didn't need a wig because I did CMF chemo but I'll never forget that feeling of initial despair.
I've spent the entire morning playing with my new smart phone. I'm not so sure I'm smart enough to operate this gadget but think I'll enjoy it if I ever get it figured out. I'm just so darn proud of myself when I get something downloaded or tackled. WHEW! It's hard to change when you get old!
I really like today's quote, Jackie!
Well, I need to get regrouped and get something accomplished around here. Hugs to all of you.

determined3 I saw that episode when I was in the middle of chemo. Scared me because after my 3rd chemo I had the least amount of SE. For those of you who don't know the story google his name.
Laura I have less hair to wash and style. Saves me at least 1/2 hour every day. I good with that. So how big were you old boobs anyway that took so much time to wash?

Ritajean I have a stupid phone and hate it. I'm getting an iphone once I land a job. Speak of job…
Filled out information for background check. Going for drug test at 4:20 today. Have a 2nd interview from the other day set up for Tuesday. Yes the one I was 50 minutes late for. Guess I said something right. I hope I only have to pee in a cup. No way are they poking my arms. These places won't do blood draws from feet.
BTW I met robo47 today. Yeah she is a cista. We had fun chatting up a storm.
-
Lago, I'm teaching myself a valuable lesson....don't go over the normal Cc's....ugh, I agreed to bump from 50 to 60....barely made it home driving than had to ride all the way to Willowbrook and back, with ice packs in each armpit.....oh my goodness!!!! I'm in pain....

-
MadMom Aleve took the edge off for me that time they added the extra tablespoon.
(Hope you don't mind me calling you MadMom. When I first read you screen name I saw "Mad is mommy" I like you better "crazy" mad then "angry" mad

Happy Thursday to all....Well count down to school starts officially on Monday next week. I need to get in early and do all that computer data entry work yuck! And I am getting early childhood kids 3-5 yrs old....so my days are going to be super busy. I would not have it any other way. I just love my kids.
Lago...good luck on your new job interview. Slam dunk it. Then celebrate. Most companies only do urine drug testing. Never eat poppy seed bagels before testing...you come up positive. lol
Rita....I love my iphone. It is very easy to use and I love all the apps you get. I just got the ipad2 for school and love that too. It is a bigger version of the iphone but faster. I can do faster reports on it. If you need help just jingle.
Laura...how is the forest cleaning coming? Did your bro help alot. hehe
Wendyty....thinking of you and hope you are feeling better. Hope you are enjoying your goodies from Rita.
Makmak....how is Florida and your txs going? Hang in there. You will be home soon. We miss you.
Hi Robo...welcome to the Illinois gal place. We are a very chatter group.
Well this is a quick hi and now I gotta run. Take care....

It was just a pee test. Right down the street (less than 10 minute walk). I still don't know if the background check/drug test is for the same position I'm going for the 2nd interview. I also had 2 telephone interviews for a different position last week… and of course the ones I applied to yesterday. Funny if I get more than one offer. Ya right. Dow was down how many points today?
-
LOL Lago, nope I don't mind!
ha, it does look like "mad is mommy" it's technically "madi's mommy". Or just call me Jenn?
am I the only Jenn? That's rare....
I can barely move.... It's crazy. I have to pee (I'm sure TMI, sorry) but I think it'll hurt too much to pull down my pants.... I'm yet again, a hot mess!!!!
Although....I found and ordered a wig!! It wasn't too bad of an experience (minus my upper body throbbing!)....that place was great!!!
Sounds like good things are happening with job interviews and such....they must be interested if they asked you to pee in a cup???
Hi BJ, I'm on school countdown too....but me because my house needs "routine" back....summer can be so exhausting.. So do you work in a school than? -
Lago - I exaggerated a bit about the boob washing time! My ex's were itsy bitsy! LOL Congrats on the job stuff - GREAT for you!
-
The rest of my August is packed and it makes me sad. Like BJ, most of my friends are going back to school. I most definitely do not want to do that, but we are putting all these dates to do the stuff we didn't get to during the summer. Some are joining me at Nihari's.
Thank you your note, Jackie. I love reading your lovely thoughts.
Wedding this weekend this one in Naperville. There is a 4 hour space of time between the wedding and the reception. Why do people plan it that way when most everyone lives more than an hour away? I think I would like to get a hotel.
Have a good evening.
Susan

lago...The job front is looking more promising every day. I hope you land the one that's best for you. Good luck!
BJ...I downloaded a weather app and a golfing app that keeps your score while golfing, as well as facebook, of course. Do you have any other favorites that I should check out?
Zap, it makes me sad that summer is nearly over already. It sounds like you're going to be quite busy but busy is good, especially when fun things are planned.
Today has been a lazy type day around here. Sometimes they are nice, too.
Hope everyone had a good day.
-
Hello everyone - trying to catch-up on all the posts I have missed.
Welcome to the new members.
Lago - love the "linky" and congratulations on the job front - crossing my fingers for you
-
Morning! 67 on my deck, bit hazy and cloudy...high around 84. 20-30% chance of rain thru the weekend tho...
Lago...fingers crossed on your job! I bet you are excited! Also...have a wonderful trip!
Susan...yeah, those gaps between are hard to fill so why not get a room? Lots of choices in Naperville. Enjoy your lunch next week!
BJ...when do you start? Hard to believe the summer went so fast! Isn't it strange that we were chatting about the market in the am, and then it falls over 500 pts? Hope we didn't do that!
Robo...sorry but I don't think I welcomed you...so welcome to our little group which unfortunately keeps growing...
Rita...I have lots of apps so of which I have already ditched. I will look to see what I really use...I do have WGN and USA Today, DH has CNN. Those were free. Also...play scrabble with friends including BJ and JanClare..it's Words With Friends...lots of fun! Also Groupon, my cable co guide, Redbox, Amazon, and of course....Angry Birds! That is a MUST! Hours of mindless fun !!!!!
Jackie...how's Racoon Lake? With all this rain is it flooded?
For you girls getting fills...does not sound like much fun. Does the pain last til the next fill or does it ebb in a few days? I guess I could do it but you guys really opened my eyes as to the very real pain involved. Was laughing tho MadJenn...about the ice bags in ur pits while picking out a wig while trying to figure out how to pee...and driving to Willowbrook! And laughing about it all! Wonder if men could do this stuff? Yeah....NO! IL Women are strong...and you rock!
Skipping the gym this am as I mowed and whacked last night and I am counting that for today. Onc appt later which of course I am dreading ...not sure why as it is basically a px exam and chat and I have been checking the girls and just about every node I can find for the past 2 weeks, at least once a day! Some things will never change and fear of onc offices is one...just the waiting room puts that dread in my heart, as there are so many young ones now with that abject fear in their eyes. Oh well...onward and upward!
Have a lovely Friday...Lago, have a linky for the Friday Happy Dance? -
Welcome Robo47 to our wonderful little neck of the woods!!! I'm a port HATER who had a very bad experience, but now need to get another port.. but I'm in a different situation.. I would ask your chemo nurses to look at your veins and also tell you if it's doable.. I know taxol or taxotere are both very bad and will burn your veins.. However, with only 6.. I would recommend looking into a Pic line instead..
My last day here today... Treatment in an hour then off to airport. Not sure if it's doing anything, but I am much more relaxed and sleeping like a baby.. which is this Dr's belief for any healing to take place my Mind and Body need to be calm.. will see how that goes once I get back to the craziness of home...
WendyTY how are you feeling?
Hi to everyone else!!!!
-
Robo I'm pretty sure they do MUGAs for people who are getting Herceptin and/or Adriamycin. Both can have heart issues associated with them… especially if you are doing both. I had an inital MUGA but I am doing Herceptin.
wendyk13 I had 10 expansions and it was only the last 3 that I had discomfort. It lasted 1-2 days. I took Aleve for it. That 8th one was the worst. They put too much in. The 9th one I actually met you gals for lunch right after (driving from Chicago-Schamburg). The trick was to take the Aleve before I left the doctors office!
robo47 you'll get a lot of use with those yoga pants. I had fun too yesterday.
Thanks everyone. You're not going to believe this but after I accepted the time for the 2nd interview for the 2nd job I applied for the first job (the one where I didn't think the telephone interview went very well) called and offered me the job yesterday at 5:30pm. What concerns me is they have never met me in person (for a sales representing Apple in Best Buys). I have never met the boss in person. The boss wasn't even the one who called and offered me the job. It's 29 hours only weekends and nights, only benefits is 401K and option to buy company stock. (No health, days off, they didn't evne talk about product discount). This is also the job that did the drug test/background check before they even offered me the job. The hourly rate wasn't all that exciting but I could wave that if there were benefits. This is a new pilot program. I asked if I could have the weekend to think about it and the guy said I had to tell him by tomorrow.
I just don't have a good feeling about this "rush" offer. Being a new pilot program my gut is telling me they don't have things all worked out based on how they are hiring me. I don't want to be put in a position where I'm going to fail. When interviewed the boss said there were goals that had to be met. Still have not heard specifics on that. What do you guys think?
Anyway I'm going to tell the guy today that I have already accepted an invitation for an interview on Tuesday and I want to be fair. I can give him an answer late Tuesday early Wednesday. I may lose out on the opportunity but to be honest I don't feel good about it. Tuesday interview sounds much better. They are going through the interview process properly. No guarantees I will get it but I think I have to go for that one.
Here's one that I haven't posted yet. Something very feel good about this one too. If the link don't make you feel better take an Advil:
