2 Years for Me

edited June 2014 in Stage III Breast Cancer

Two years ago yesterday my doctor called me and said "We made a mistake-you have breast cancer" For 6 months the doctor kept saying nope that is not bc..We did ultrasound and after ultrasound and he kept looking at the tissue and saying it was nothing. He was wrong...I got the call upon returning from Chicago where I celebrated my husbands 10 year cancer free annivesary. I guess I was his reoccurence. My surgery was Labor Day weekend.

Getting that call was one thing but the fact that I was pregnant was a whole other story. I went through surgery while pregnant as well as chemo. I won't say it was easy because it wasn't ...I was a mess... Sometimes I am surprised I made it through..

But here I am 2 years later..I am in the best shape of my life. My company has grown in ways I never imagined. I have received blessing after blessing. I have traveld to Hawaii, Costa Rica, San Francisco, NYC, SC, all since chemo ened. I have new fitness goals that include getting my body in fitness competition state just to prove what can be done after cancer. I am planning on moving my family out of the country for a year to e xperience a different culture. I am living in ways I NEVER dreamed... I laugh REALLY loud..When I smile I feel it with every fiber of my body. I am different and happier in many many ways.

My husband had stage 3 colon cancer 3 weeks after we marrired. My mom had bc when I was a teenager. And then I had bc while pregnant. I have survived all of this and I am still her and better then ever. Two years is not a huge anniversary but I wanted others just starting that you do get through and often times there can be a better life waiting for you.

Blessings:)

Jen, I have to say, you are THE poster child for post-cancer achievment. I think what you've done with your life is amazing. I followed your pregnancy here, rooted with everyone when you delivered safely, and as a friend on facebook, I've really enjoyed your family travel pictures.

All I can say is, WAY TO GO!

Two years is a big thing Pure!  You went through cancer "boot camp" during that time.  You kept your family together and you found the strength to accomplish so much.

    My heartfelt congratulations!

They say that everything happens for a reason and God doesnt give us more than we can handle - I hate those cliche's but in this case...they are true.  No one else could do what you have done and done it so well.  You are a success story everyday in everyway.  I am blessed to know you.

    Jen,

I so love hearing from you!  You've been on my roller coaster ride along the way with me, and I'm just about a month behind you from my 2 year dx, although I can't even imagine what you went through.  The missed dx, then to find out you had to go through tx while pregnant.  If you weren't a mess during that I'd be worried about you :)!!!  But you've made it through and are here to let others know that there is hope at the end of the tunnel.  I know you've had some scares too and are having a tough time with the upcoming surgery, but truly I believe with all my heart that it is totally normal.  You've been to war and back.  I know for me sometimes it's PTSD for sure.

Congratulations on 2 years out and here's to many many more----together!!!

    Love you!

    Jen,

Thank you for sharing your story. God bless.

I have to say that some of the most meaningful things that have happened to me during this ordeal is when a complete stranger comes up to me and shares their CA story, especially when it's a breast CA story.
