    Koala - When I had my TVUS done is was right after he took his smear for the pap.  The machine just happened to be next to the exam table I was on.  It did not hurt at all and I could see the images right on the screen.  In fact, my GYN took the time to point out what he saw and had said right then that he needed to do the biopsy based on the size of the fibroid tumor.  I will be on tamox for the next 4 1/2 years and I know I will insist on a TVUS every year.

    Eph - I'll second that on Elimar - she sure can make you laugh.

    Your are so right, HnS...there is that at least.

    But now that you bring up having more than one crotch...did anyone ever see DEAD RINGERS  (1988) with Jeremy Irons playing twin gynecologists?  Here's my favorite line from the synopsis:

    "..he constructs a set of bizarre gynecological instruments for working on these mutant women, even using them once on a real person."

    It was a regular theatrical release and  Irons won three awards for best actor.  Really.

    Reesie its what me and my sissy call our crotch, I think I spelled that right.  Thats just one of the ones we use.  There are tons more, but I will save it another day, lol.

    Thank you to all of you ladies! I'm so glad I found this thread! I appreciate all the kind words and responses. It's nice to have somewhere to "vent" or just say how I feel..

    JO...I wasn't so lucky, I had to go to the hospital for my TVUS. When you live in a fairly small town, you don't have a lot of choice!

    Actually, I thought that Paula, my kids use that expression all the time (well I guess not all the time because that would be a problem).  I just thought it was funny because I wasn't sure others used that expression too.

    koalakid - I know what you mean.  In this case I got lucky but there are times I feel like I live at the end of the world.  It has been an experience living in deep South Texas - I live just minutes from the Mexican border.  Down here if you are not Hispanic you are in the minority.

    Elimar - I remember that weird movie; I don't think I want to re-watch it!

    All this talk about weird movies and "boxes" reminds me of another strange movie from the early 90's. Did anyone see "Boxing Helena"? It was creepy, about another pyscho doctor.

    No weather reports here!  However, Tamox. user do need to be especially cautious this summer as temps. reach some record highs.  Here's something I found (just from a self-reported data base) about Tamoxifen & Heat Stroke.

    Watered my dying bushes for about forty five minutes this morning, felt dizzy, had to take cold shower to cool my body down.  Blowing off my son's soccer game at 6:15 tonight.  There is just no way Tamox. & I can do it this time.

    Elimar, that's what I do every time I walk in the door! I'm just happy mine's is a side-by-side so I don't have to kneel...

    Glad you posted that link to Tamox & heat stroke - this is my first tamoxifen summer and it's been hell! I can barely cope with the heat this year and I choose to blame the tamoxifen! I was having chemo last summer and it wasn't THIS bad. Of course, it's been a hot summer but I am really NOT dealing!

    45 minutes watering? I can work about 5 minutes out there before I say, Okay I'm done!

    I wonder if the Femara has the same effects. I didn't think about that, just thought it was the horrible hot flashes but I actually get nauseous when working in the flower garden sometimes. Then freeze to death when I go inside! My thermostat is broken! I do think that all this sweating and I mean dripping sweat, dehydrates me to the point of having leg cramps at night. Trying to drink tons of water, then pee all night. Blah!

    Elimar, I have has those abnormal cells found, and I was having a PAP every three months for two years.  My gyno said I could stop when I got 3 clear ones in a row.  It finally happened, no meds or anything.  I think my system was trying to recover from the chemo.  I have have several TVUS for the fibroids or what they might morph into, unlike Jo, they are painful for me so I won't insist on them.  I have had many cervical bx's and I must be one of the women who have plenty of nerves there, I feel like I could faint when he does them!

    Whoever said the TVUS was painful, I'm with you!!! The tech couldn't find my ovaries and dug until I thought she was going to come out my bum! Embarassed I was in so much pain I couldn't even tell her!!!!! I have had a hysterectomy so I guess there is no 'give' at the cut off surgical end of my woo hoo. She almost made a new one!

    He keeps laughing at me because I agreed to get a "real" tattoo with my DD.  And since she told me that it's an experience she really wants to have with me, there's no getting out of it.  Once my counts go back up I'm doomed lol...

    Here's a question & comments for my rads-sisters:  Look close at your treatment side.  Any of you gals getting broken capillaries on that breast?  I noticed a few last year.  Now, noticed I have gotten more.  I am pretty sure I just got injured two weeks ago in the mammo-squisher.  Like the "good" breast can withstand all that pressure, but the treatment side is pitifully damaged and cannot take further assault.  Not to mention additional views.

    My broken capillaries from last year did not go away, so these new ones might be permanent too.  I'm supposed to get one more six month mammo before dropping back to yearly, but I am two years out now already and if it's going to damage me every time, I may not do the six month one.

    On one hand, yes, I want to be monitored.  On the other, some say injury to the breast may actually cause B/C. If my cancer was slow growing, must they really put me in the mammo vise grip that often?  Could it doing more harm than good?  And when do the questions ever end with the "gift that keeps on giving?"

    I really needed a good chuckle this morning!  Thanks ladies!  I went and saw my reg dr yesterday since my surgeon is out of town this week.  She put me on a mild antidepressant and said that the pain in my chest was most likely because of the port I had put in the week before, along with still healing from the mastectomy. She told me to stop trying to be superwoman and that it's ok to cry ( i know it's ok to cry, but not everytime someone talks to me!) I LIKE being superwoman, darn! I just want to feel human again....if only for a little while! I'm going to go pick up the report from my TVUS today, I hope there aren't any surprises....

    I forgot to say (about TVUS) that I thought since it was less invasive, it would not be very painful.  Guess that is not the case, not for everyone anyway.  The endometrial biopsy is a little pinchy, then crampy, and I had spotting for a day, but it was really not that bad.  I'm o.k. with getting that, then, but every two years not every year.

    Well crap! I picked up the report from my TVUS...not what I was hoping for but, I will have to wait untill I hear from the gyn to see if he is going to do anything.....My rt ovary is almost twice as big as the left and it has what seems to be a 20mm cyst (that would explain why I cramp like hell!), and then it looks like a fibroid in my uterus.  I hope I hear from him today.....deep breath! ONE DAY AT AT TIME   If I'm going to be on Tamox for 5 yrs and there is already stuff going on, may as well do a hysterectomy!

    Foxlairfrm....Congrats on the grandbaby! I became an instant grandma when I got remarried a few years ago (now total of 6, all age 5 and under! crazy kids)My girls will hopefully wait a while (13&17yrs)!  Ultrasound pics are the greatest, I hope they gave you one!

    koalakid -So sorry you did not get the news you were looking for.  If it is any consellation - fibroids are non cancerous and can just be a pain in the rear.  I recently had a hysteroscopy D&C for a 1.5 cm fibroid.  My GYN just took a sample for testing which was negative but left the bugger in there

    Not sure what the cause of the enlarged ovary is all about and perhaps someone will come along with an answer.  I do know what you mean about being on Tamox for 5 years - might as well have a hysterectomy done - they can also have my ovaries while they are at it.  I am post menopausal and don't need the plumbing anyway.

    Spending hugs out to you and please keep up posted.

    Jo...my gyn just called and said that we didn't have to do anything about the cyst or fibroid. Thank goodness! I've had enough surgery for one year (actually I've had enough for the rest of my life!). He said we at least have a good baseline exam for when I start the tamox. I will talk to my surgeon and oncologist and see what they say. You never know, they may have a diff opinion! Thanks so much for the kind words! Smile
