    Kitty .. glad to hear you are back at work.  What is the next step?  Will you have rads or chemo?

    I'll find out on Aug 9 when I meet with the ONC.  The surgeon did not think I would have chemo but did think I would have rads.  I fit the profile for the Oncotype DX test to check if chemo would do me any good (or be a waste of time/money/SE's) so I think I'll ask for that just to make sure.  I also saw in my path report after reading carefully that "some areas an in situ component is suspected".  So I'll be asking about that also.  Seems like I need to keep reading and questioning and getting the clearest answers possible no matter what.  The ONC is 4 star rated in my area and from the Mayo clinic.  Doesn't get much better.  Cross your fingers things work out.  Kitty

    Hi Kitty .. Sounds like you have a great doctor.  Yay!  I was also Stage 1, Grade 2 with no nodes.  I was ER/PR+ as well.  I didn't have the onco test, but chemo was not recommended as I was 51 years old at the time, and my tumor was small with no nodes.  I did have 36 radiation treatments, which started about 3-4 weeks after my lumpectomy.

    I also had IDC, DCIS and LCIS, so it's possible to have different kinds of cancer in one tumor.

    WOW, I didn't know that was possible.  Demon child this BC!  Was wondering also if anyone has had the Brachytheraph radiation?  That was also mentioned as a possibility.  Kitty

    Can't help you with that .. I just had the regular kind of radiation. 

    If you get a chance, post your question in the Radiation forum, and hopefully there will be someone who can answer your question.

    Hello ladies - I have often passed by and thought it was about time to stop off and say hello! I am life scientist and unbeliever from down under - I have noticed a few other Aussies in here as well! But do enjoy the conversations and tolerant tone that take place here!

    As a happy grandmother of soon to be 3 I have enjoyed the freedom of a religionless life for all my adult 47 years and given my two daughters (27 & 13) the freedom to determine their own life philosophy without judgement. They have grown into kind & generous young women that I am very proud of! I never pronounced atheism in our home- religon was just absent!

    Having BC - it is just an illness- without a god to blame for the trial to 'test faith ' there is no anger or questions why. As a scientist I marvel at the cellular machinery that brought each of us into consciousness and count myself so lucky just to be here!! It is amazing that our bodies work so well for so long compared to other animals lifespans!

    So sorry for a long post- musings!! I can always blame the chemo!!! Lol

    Welcome Robyn.  I see your diagnosis is similar to mine.You must be in the middle of treatment.

    I have two sons, 19 and 23.  The eldest is an active atheist but the youngest has no interest so I guess he's atheist by default. They're both still studying though the eldest is finishing his last subject at uni while working four days a week.  It's great to see them make their way in the wider world.

    What do you two ladies think of the census debate over whether one should tick the Christian box rather than Pastafarian/Atheist/Other in order to leave a larger non-Muslim footprint on our country?

    Hi Sheila, I hadn't even heard of that debate so thanks for alerting us to it.  It sounds like some sort of religious war, or religious discrimination.  I'll google it.  I'd like to know what other options they would accept.  I would never tick Christian. No offence to anyone but no..  no.. no. 

    Enjoyful, Sheila is referring to the upcoming Australian census.

    Robyn welcome to this thread!  I have two sons (30 and 27) that also grew up with no pressure to "believe".  They are happy adults without any need to comform to a religious corner.  I find that an open mind is refreshing and is more positive about everything around us.  Even with BC I too see no need to apply blame either exernal or internal.  It's just the science of the body.  Kitty

    Back to work week has been okay.  Today (Wed) I now feel tired and took a nap when I got home. Good thing I had plenty of leftovers for supper!  DH works late so I think he'll come home to my snoring rather than my smiling.  One more day of work and then Friday is the follow up check with the surgeon.  Can't hardly wait to go swimming!  Kitty

    Hello Joy and Sheila! yes with the census coming up I could never tick the christian box - I had not heard of that debate but I take the tact that while I may not agree with the tennets of the various religions we have here, I will defend anyones right to believe what they wish to. I detest the current affairs/anti-muslim movement at the moment which targets people who in the majority are decent and peacable. The extremists of any religion who try to impose their choices on others get my contempt - the JWs in my area will always get a spirited debate on creationism whether they like it or not if they ring my doorbell!

    Joy- you and I do have similar a diagnosis -ILC is such a sneaky beast!  I am currently doing 3xFEC 3XTax with the last T in 10 days time - yay!! Then 25 rads...then reconstruction...I had been sailing through but find I am struggling with fatigue at the moment which I was happy to trade for the FEC nausea but find much more debilitating. When did you feel healthy again after chemo?
