Weight loss
Hello everyone,
Has anyone experienced loss of appetite and rapid weight loss (without trying lol)? Don't have a scale at home, but try to get a reading approx. once a month at the drugstore since dx. Have been at 140 lbs for the last 20 years at least, very stable. During treatments, weight fluctuated a couple of pounds, nothing more. Went for a reading today and I'm down to 130 in just a month. Should I be worried (
Thanks a whole lot for reading me

I believe unexpected weight loss should always be checked out.

Hi girls, thanks
Sherri, do u think your gallbladder problems might have been related to ugly TAC ? I,d really like to know how our organs are affected by chemo and all the meds. I,m guessing it might be an individual aspect of treatment, but i suspect our organs took quite a beating. Do u remember any other symptoms from your gallbladder going bankrupt, like nausea ? How are u doing now without one, must not be too much of a problem as you always sound so upbeat, thank you much for that, hugzz

I've had a lack of appetite since tx ended also, only lost about 7 lbs but I just hit my year mark so if this keeps on it will be more. I thought it may be that I'm eating healthier now.

Hi Jennyboog, i wouldn,t worry if i were you. It makes sense that if you,re eating healthier, you would lose some weight over a period of time

I am having the same issue of losing weight lately. I know it is one of the first questions my onc asks me at my visits. "Have you lost any unexpected weight lately?" I actually see her tomorrow and will see what she says.
I am also very tired lately. I am hoping it is the heat, work, and allergies.

Hey girls,
I have had those same concerns. Considering I have had my ovaries out, and I am on tamox,
I have lost 40 pounds since stopping chemo last june. I suppose thats not considered rapid weight loss, However, I do eat, and you all know I have my glass of wine with dinner, and I only get in about 3 days a week of excersise. I am continuing to loose, I hopped on the scale yesterday, and it keeps going down. I did stop eating meat mostly just fish , But still get in my calories!!
My Bs did ask me last time I saw her, to stop loosing weight, I told her I was not trying, What do you ladie's think the lack of appetite is? I think it's canceritis, we don't want to put anything in that causes it, so nothing sounds good!!!! Luan, talk to your doc about it, but it's just probebly due to
all that you have been through, your just not hungry right now. make shakes or force yourself to munch on something , it does not have to be alot, you just don't want your Immune system to get low, take your vitD3, you have to take that with food for it to be affective!!!!
love to all, I guess this is not the worst problem to have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As long as we are healthy!!!!

Hey gurlzzz, thanks for your posts, much appreciated
Sherri, thanks so much for all that info, I did for a while have that flank pain you describe on the left side, gotta check if the gallbladder is on that side Lol lol, but it seems to have disappeared, I thought it was my kidney, had an abdominal scan, nothing showed up. You had sooo many scans and nothing ever showed up, that's scary. I'll ask to be referred to a gastro, my oh my, I must have at least 10 doctors I need to see, ouf, cancer is a full time job, between here and the appointments....
Pip, I also have an appointment tomorrow (with the palliative doctor) don't know what she'll say. Sure glad my onco is not addressing this issue..... have the feeling it's not normal, because I've been so stable throughout treatments even
Hey you, Faithfulheart, now I know how you're doing
40 pounds in a year seems a lot, I hope it's your healthy habits and new lifestyle that's to blame, get it checked out though if you keep losing. Yes Mam, will do, luv and hugzz
Ellen, I was eating like a pig...huge appetite, but I do not feel the hunger anymore, I can go 8 hours straight without eating, that is so no like me, always munching on something because of hypoglycemia. I have to make a conscious effort to eat then get full really quickly, i.e. a banana . Sorry you had TAC, Sherri and I did too
((
God, we really have to be our own advocate, THANK GOD for you sisters, hugzzzzzz

Ask to have your thyroid checked along with a" thyroglobulin antibodies" level as well. Could be the culprit

When you do eat a bunch (even if you don't feel like it), does the weight come back on? Sometimes a person's metabolism just changes after treatment (but of course, get it checked out).
