I'm sorry Blue was deleted. Can't imagine she said anything that anyone posting here would think deserved deleting. I'm surprised BC.org hasn't done anything to get those stupid "reviews" deleted? Well, I'm done Certainly not my "job" - think we tried hard enough.
Stay cool every one. We're steamy, with Big Boomers this afternoon...
Athena, hope all gets sorted and you have sweet sleep with good dreams.
-
Thank you, CS.
Blue? Are you there??
-
I don't think Blue was deleted, just her last two posts.
The poor in spirit you have with you always. Nothing we can do about it.
-
E, I meant just her posts, that's bad enough. Meant to ask you, have you ever used ARNICA GEL on yoru legs after "exercise" - it really seems to help the healing. I also LOVE Tiger Balm, but the stronger red one does stain....hope you find something to keep you m-o-v-i-n-g.
-
The mods deleted Blues comments .. she's not banned. I'm sure she'll be back when she can. She may be having a hard time typing today with her PD. Some days are worse than others.
Sunflowers .. It's just plain hot again today. I mowed the front earlier today and it was so hot, I have no energy for all my other chores. Sure wish we would get some rain.
hugs,
Bren

I'm still here. JUst doing a little Sherlock Holmes, looking up phone numbers, etc. A few things.

TAKE GOOD care of yourself, really, stress is NOT good for any of us, expecially women with more than just bc to live with - that review site is really posionous! Disregard it, no value, and it's gone on long enough so that someone should have gotten it stopped by now.

C-S
No, I haven't tried arnica gel but I'll look it up! Thanks for the suggestion! I'd love to find a non-narcotic answer to the pain.
-
Oh, arnica gel. I had back surgery years ago, and when the morphine was stopped, one of the nurses suggested, when I got home after 2 weeks in hospital, to use Arnica Gel. SO HEALING. My ps had me take Arnica tablets ( homeopathic) before surgery. It really helps to prevent black & blue marks when bruised. After the injury, I first use arnica gel, then after the first day or so, I use tager Balm.
Homeopathic medicine is given MUCH more respect in England, than it does here. But it's growing in the States too. YOu will find Whole Foods generic Brand 365 Arnica Gel the best value, if there's a WF ( what we sometimes call Whole PayCheck) near you... good luck, Sunflowers

I'm trying CS, but they just won't stop leaving my name out of it. I am trying to mind my own business and haven't named any names, but it still isn't enough.

(((((( Blue))))))) I would be on a massive amount of valium if I were enduring what those &$&$^^# have done these past two weeks. This is just crap.
Athena - I was an insomniac for over 20 years and never could get the doctors to listen and prescribe a sleep aid as they were concerned they are addicting. I was always told if I changed my sleep patterns for 2 weeks it would all go away. Bullcrap! I took every over the counter drug out there to sleep. It wasn't until I got diagnosed with cancer that I was FINALLY able to at least get ambien which works for me. All those years I was so miserable so I do get what you are going through.

Athena~
I have had trouble sleeping for years and I just started drinking Tart Cherry Juice per one of the ladies on this site. It actually does make me sleepy although I do not know why...
-
Just started drinking Tart cherry juice. Already downed a 32 ounce bottle in 4 days, and I have a lot of aches and pains.(old age), and they seem to have subsided some...........not sure if it is the cherry juice, or just a weird coincidence..................guess time will tell, since I just started Femara....................we all know what that can do.
-
Oh good, I'm glad to hear about the tart cherry juice. I bought some at Trader Joe's yesterday -- it was on my list but I couldn't remember why ... I thought it was for a laxative effect (I'm worried about narcotic constipation from my upcoming surgery). Sleeping is good, too ... I'm winding up so much that my squirrel-brain won't shut off at a reasonable hour or stay asleep for long enough.

ducky
check out the AI SE page Lowridere started - it's long but full of good info
Also, another thread in the Hormonal Forum I started Specifics of What helps, or something like that , can't remember - was trying to have site just for specifics , so new users wouldnt' ahve to wade thru so many pages - alas, like other "good plans" - seems dormant - but might have info for you.
Good luck
-
Caerus..........have been on that page, and it does have a lot of info................keep going back all the time.........................hesitated to take the Femara, but took #3 today.................as I said on another thread...................waiting for something to happen................wart on my nose...........a limb to drop off............................wake up bald....................after 3 days I'm holding up, but we all know how that goes......................well at least I started it, after 6 weeks of contimplating, and hesitating........................what is the worse that can happen.......................if the SE get bad I have to stop...........oh well couldn't find that out till I started.....................I'm sure time will tell.
-
Maybe you didn't read far enuf
Enjoy this time, usually takes about 3 months for the SE's to kick in. Have a rest - and maybe you won't have any???? good luck -
Wow.................3days...................3 months................I'm sure they are coming............Honest Caerus............I have read so much about Femara, I am a walking book of knowledge................I know how some get no SE......some get minor SE...................some get bad SE's................some get horrible SE's....................and then there are those who eventually have to stop it altogether.....................I guess its a crap shoot................I also have LE, what the hell...............let's just add one more thing to "cancer".................the gift that keeps on giving".

Our efforts are simply to reduce the tension and hostility on the boards. Thanks for your efforts in helping us with this!

ducky -- almost 3 years of Femara (now letrozole) for me, and still no wart on MY nose! I think you'll be safe from that one
. -
lindasa...............haha...................question lindasa...........................I was talking to someone who is on Femara.............she said she was on the "brand" and she did fairly well just a few SE's.....Not relaizing when it went "generic" she was given that drug.......................after about 6 weeks she began to have SE's that she never had, and the ones she did have got worse....................she talked to her MO, and he asked for her insurance company to allow her to get the "brand" name drug for the same price as the "generic"................they okayed it, she went back on the "brand" Femara, and within 1 week all of the new SE's went away, and the ones that got worse...........improved...................she questioned her MO, and he told her that even though the compounds are the same with "generic", and "brand"............at times it can be the difference in the makeup of the other ingredients in the "generic". that can cause problems.......................all things are not equal.............they just have to use the same compound............not the same fillers, and that is sometimes the problem.
I worked for a Pharma company for 15 years...............called one of my counterparts, and asked that question, and he told me............your MO is right................all things are not equal, and sometimes the difference causes problems for some people........

Ducky, that is exactly correct. I had the same type of problem many years ago with birth control pills. My gyn put me on Ortho777 and it made me crazy -- gave me a monster case of PMS (psychotic monthly syndrome). I thought it was just a fluke, but the second month I had the same thing -- turned into an axe-murderer! Then she put me on TriNorinyl -- same active ingredients, different company, different color and -- *poof* -- no more monsterLibby. My secretary (who was a chemistry major) said that the manufacturing process produces minute levels of industrial byproducts, and apparently I didn't get along with Ortho's! So you never know about generics ...

Ducky -- thanks for the confirmation. I'm seeing my onc in September and am going to ask her for an Rx for Femara, and no substitute. Even after sitting down for a few minutes, when I stand up my legs are SO stiff and sore -- takes awhile for normalcy to return. And my plantar fasciitis is worse than ever before. Haven't changed anything else -- just the switch to generic.
Well, looks like I'd better take extra-special care of my ovaries -- can't afford to have (any more) cognitive problems

Cindy -- was it a visual aura? I've had that -- turns out I have a version called "optic migraine" or "scintillating scotoma" -- about 2 hours worth of visual field disturbance, followed by total exhaustion -- but no head pain.
-
I had several "visual" migraines while I was pregnant.
Now that I'm going thru peri-menopause and am on Tamoxifen, I've a had a couple as well.
Very weird phenomena. If you google "visual migraines" you can actually see a simulated video of what they are like. At least what mine are like. I have no pain whatsoever-just a sparkly circle in the middle of my field of vision that gradually goes away. My opthamologist told me that if the circle appears in both eyes' field of vision, that is a migraine. If it was only affecting one eye, it would be something else.

Cindy .. is an aura considered little lights that you can see .. something like if you stand up too fast in the heat? (Happened to me this a.m. when I was working outside.) I don't always get them, but I can tell when a simple headache is going to be migraine status. When that happens I take a pain pill ASAP so I don't get behind the pain. Usually takes about 3 pain pills in the day to get rid of it. I don't get them very often so I haven't talked to my doc about Imitrex.
I'm so glad your aura didn't turn into a full blown migraine!! Still .. it sounds kind of scary.
hugs,
Bren

Ducky .. you may not have any SE's from the Femara, especially if you have already been in menopause for awhile. My SE's of nausea, vertigo and vomiting from Arimidex were immediate and started the very first day. I kept taking it for a week to see if they would stop .. and they didn't, so I quit taking it. I had the same problem with Tamoxifen. I wish I could have taken the medication as I'm 100% ER/PR+.
Hang in there .. hopefully, you won't have any negative reactions to the Femara!
hugs,
Bren

Uh oh- I have been on Femara, then the generic for two years. And lately I got a white spot on the end of my nose. It was there for a few weeks and seems to be on its way out. Was it the wart on the nose Ducky was fearing?!
Ducky - what I have found is that whatever side effects there are, they change. Trigger fingers come and go, creakiness ebbs and flows, fuzzy brain has lucid moments - every day is an adventure.

Moderators
I think it is OBVIOUS there IS NO hostility on this thread. I'm tired of the accusations, and the people posting on this thread are not causing the HOSTILITY. I am also done trying to "defend" BCO on the "review" thread, when the only action taken seems to be taking this thread off the active list.
Also don't care if this post is deleted, or copied by one of the Gretas.
