Bloating and discomfort
I have been having some discomfort on my right side, slightly under my rib. This has been going on for a while. I wouldn't say it's painful, but uncomfortable. Also I feel so bloated. It doesn't seem to matter how little I eat...I just feel so full.
I feel tired a lot but just started on Effexor XR a few weeks ago and so may it's making me feel fatigued.
Thoughts???? Do you think this is something to be concerned about?
Thanks
Beth

Bloating and discomfort should be brought to the attention of your oncologist, as it may be symptomatic of something else that needs to be checked out, especially since your breast cancer was estrogen positive.
I would call your oncologist and have it checked out further.

I have pain in my lower left side. My onc did a bone scan, which was negative, than because the pain continued, an abdominal/pelvic CT.
Negative. That was back in December.
Then I started bloating, so five months later, in May, I had another abdominal scan. This time it showed liver mets.
HOWEVER, the bloating is not a symptom of liver mets. There was no acites, etc. It is considered an incidental finding. And, since we caught it at only two mets, my doctor still refers to me in terms of cure. Thank goodness I have a wonderful onc who takes my complaints seriously.
The moral of the story is tell your onc, but don't freak out. Turns out, I just bloated up so quck because of middle age. I've always been super skinny and it caught up with me. Effexor can have the same side effect and cause weight gain and bloating, so it's probably that.
But never ignore a new symptom when you are a cancer patient. At your next appointment , don't forget to bring it up.
I think that's the hardest part of being an early stager readjusting to the end of treatment - when to trust your body again and learning to know what is normal and what isn't.

Thanks Judy and CoolBreeze for listening and replying.
Perhaps it is middle age spread, effexor, tamoxifen (although I've been on it for 2 years) or maybe it's a combination of all. I'll make an appointment with my GP.
CB, did you have any discomfort on your right side?

Nothing wrong on the right side. The liver mets are asymptomatic.
I did get a frozen shoulder post-recon, in November of last year. My doctors and nurses are discounting the idea, but I really think the some of my pain problems are resulting from stress on muscles because of that. I've not been able to lift or move my right arm since November. It feels like organ pain but it's not always easy to tell.
Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine but it's important to check.
