Gabapentin for RAD nerve pain

Hi ladies,

My primary care doc gave me Gabapentin for my nerve pain in the breast.. I also started arimidex this week and being hubby was out of town I haven't tried the Gabepentin yet... with all the other drug allergies I have had in the past, I wasn't going to try it while I was alone... He is now home and the pain is so bad today, I think I'm going to try it tonight...

Has anyone else used this med for nerve pain??? Just wondering how it makes you feel at first... Thanks ahead of time for any responses...Laughing

    I just started it for hand and foot neuropathy.  I'm on 300mg 3 times a day.  I started it a week ago and had "fuzzie" thinking.  Didn't drive until I got used to it.  It was a drug that was used for seizures before but they discovered it helped with pain.

    The vet gave it to my beagle for his epilepsy last year. I wish I could give you first hand info but he didn't get dopey or sleepy on it.



    Have you tried cybalta?

    Beaglesgirl: no I haven't - will be actually going in and talking to my PCP weds next week..Wanted to go in with some amunition so to speak..

    Sewingnut: That helps..thank you - they started me on the lowest dosage and only at night to see if it helps and make sure I'm not allergic to it... My worst time for nerve pain seems to be at work and at night.. so will be trying it at night first..

    THis is a drug they gradually increase until you get to a therapeutic dose.  It has a short time that it stays in your system, thus the 3 times a day.  I hope you get some relief.  The numness was one side effect I hadn't anticipated with the chemo..

    Beaglegirl and sewingnut: I finally took the pill.. Gave the arimidex a few days before trying another... I didn't have any allergic reaction Smile but even with the small dose I was really sleepy... does that go away after you take it for awhile?
