Allergic to Herceptin
Hi all, I'm new here, but in looking at many of the posts, it seems to be the place to be to ask some questions and get some feed back. So, thanks in advance. First, I guess the most important is I was diagnosed with ILC in one breast and Ductile cancer insitu in the other breast. In ILC breast they got 5 lymph nodes 2, sentinel and 1 regular had cancer. I am HER2 pos, and end. and prog. positive. Diagnosed Jan. 2010. Had chemo for eight weeks and herceptin every week for 23 weeks. Had to stop herceptin cause it turns out I'm allergic to it, go figure. So didn't make full regime, what does that do to my recurrence probabilities. Also had a Bard Port, loved it, best thing since sliced bread. I just had it taken out (after a 1 1/2 years) 4 days ago and it was an easy procedure but I'm curious. Under where it was placed, there is a mass that seems to be about the same size as the port was. Is this likely to be scar tissue? Or something worrisome.
Thanks all for your time. Of course good luck and prayers from me to you.
Sincerely, Laura

Laura it sounds like it's just scar tissue but call your surgeon or his nurse and ask them.
I had a similar situation after my exchange surgery (that's when the put the implants if for us who have had reconstruction). I felt this lump right in the same post where my tumor was. It moved around so I wasn't too worried. When I met with my onc she felt it too. I told her I was seeing my PS in the afternoon. She said she had no idea what my PS did in there but if he didn't know what it was I should see my BS. She too said it was movable but still wanted it checked out. Saw the PS and he said it was fat from fat grafting. It's all gone now.
Also the thing with Herceptin is they aren't 100% sure how long you need to take it. It's still a fairly new drug. Even still just because you are HER2+ it doesn't mean it will automatically spread. You might not have even needed Herceptin on Chemo. There are many factors, many that they don't even know to consider. Check out this linky. Even that link is old. Remember you only had 2 nodes. It didn't get very far.

Thank you Lago-hugs! :)L

You're welcome. My theory is unless someone tells me it's a problem I don't assume it is BUT you always should check something out if it doesn't seem right.
Hugs back at ya ♥ ♥ ♥
