Bee Sting

I was heading out at 5:45 AM (!) to get in a long run before the heat got bad and I was stung by a bee just above my compression sleeve.  I immediately put cortisone cream on it.  So far only slight redness, but I obviously don't want to aggravate my LE.  I called my LE clinic and they advised to continue with cream, add a little antibiotic ointment to prevent infection and keep an eye out.  Any other advice?

    I am an amateur bee keeper (16 hives). My dad is the Bee Man here, and I've been helping out this year. The first two stings were quite concerning, they swelled to about 3 inches across and itched like crazy. One on LE arm and one on the other arm. Took about 3 weeks for them to go away totally. Last night was stung on my eye lid, and it was the most painful for about 10 minutes. Thought it would be nasty this morning, but it is almost non existent! Mom put aloe vera on it last night.



    Didn't use anything on the first two stings. The Oncologist did give me an epi pen in case the reactions got worse (there will be more stings, not going to stop as it is fun, last night we were harvesting honey - got almost 60 pounds from two hives!).



    I will keep some aloe vera at the ready from now on.

    Scuttlers, your eyelid?! OUCH! Aside from the stings, it actually does sound like a delightful avocation. And what a great harvest -- yum!

    MOTC, you done good.Cool Beyond that, just the usual suggestions: elevate as much as possible, deep breaths, and stay really well hydrated. And of course keep a careful watch for infection and act fast if you suspect it.Undecided Get well soon!

    I make a paste out of Meat Tenderizer with papain in it...it breaks down the protein of the poison
