    Riley .. Dammit all .. that sucks big time.  They could have made an exception for her.  Human resources can do anything they want.  I am so sorry this didn't work out for her.  Dammit all to hell!  Hadley's supervisor sounds like an evil person and not very caring to at all.  She could try to help make this work out if she wanted to.

    WONDERFUL!!!!!  And no hormones - you are going to feel SO SO SO SO good.  Glad you got a little Herceptin, and sorry about the SE's - but your THUMPER is thumping well...thump, thump, thump.  And now you'll be SE free.  Whew - what wonderful words - SE free.

     You only gained 10 lbs.  Again, you are in GOOD shape.  I can't alk about weight, or Arimidex, cuz it makes me cry ;-))))  BUT I am so grateful too, to have the option of taking a med that seems to be working so well.

    Rosemary -- So glad you're normal!  (Not that I ever thought otherwise:) )

    Riley -- Hadley's supervisor is not the head of the organization.  There are ways of going over her head, because hospitals, of all places, should be compassionate towards their employees' illnesses.  And you're donating those precious hours, for heaven's sake, so who loses?  No one. 

    Unless, of course, it will make her working environment difficult for Hadley in the long run...

    Hmmmm....that's what she TOLD you, but is thems the rules?  I'd check to make sure, and see if there are exceptions granted for hardship cases.  There must be some way to help Hadley!

    Oh Riley - what a bunch of....! Why is it always the healthcare organizations that treat their people so badly? It seems you hear about it all the time on BCO. Every time a sister gets fired or mistreated for being ill, it is a healthcare group. I am not trying to make generalizations and I am sure some are wonderful employers, but it's shocking that it should ever happen.

    CEO of the hospital should be informed about Riley's being denied the opportunity to make a contribution to a friend with bc.  Also think emails, other supportive letters would make a difference.  ESP. if CE sees they come from all over the WORLD ;-)

    Would be happy to help you "word" the letter you write ;)

    Riley---in agreement here. Go above her head and remind that person what good free PR the hospital would get. BUT don't imply you might go to the press for negative PR--that will just make everyone harden their positions. . . .



    one has to wonder if the person making the decision just doesn't like Hadley (we can't be liked by everyone we meet) and now is having twinges of jealousy that you would be willing to step up and help a virtual stranger. . . .

    Riley -- that's SO awful.  Evil beyotch.  Hope HR can help out. 

    (I have worked in a hospital for 25 years, and experienced the truth of what Athena said, in the person of my bosses at the time of my BC dx -- a woman doctor, and her research collaborator/boyfriend who were just horrible to me.  Luckily for me I had hundreds of hours of my own banked PTO (due to vacations I never got to take) AND the support of a lot of nice people in our department and at HR who all hated the b*tchy doctor and psycho collaborator/boyfriend...  Maybe someone in HR feels similarly about Hadley's supervisor????)

    I worked in HR for a fortune 500 company for 13 years.  I know they can fix this situation if they choose to.  Ann is right, there could be numerous complaints already lodged about this supervisor.  It's very difficult to get rid of bad supervisors .. they just get shuffled around, and in lots of cases, promoted up the ladder. My guess is Hadley's supervisor is probably lower management and there is definitely someone higher up who can help.

    This will take some careful treading. Depending on the type of person Hadley's boss is, she may resent efforts to intervene on Hadley's behalf. Make sure you document everything, Riley, and take notes of phone conversations if you decide to move up the chain.

    Oh, Riley, head up the food chain carefully. I will write a letter to the hospital CEO on Hadley's behalf, if you'd like. I can write a mean letter (when I bother to do spell check).

    Anne, again, my condolences for Murphy.

    OK, off to the beach bar shortly to see DH rock the place. Dinner was leftover zucchini lasagne and man oh man was it ever good the second day!

    I'm with Apple - and of course, will drink to that!  Ignoramusi.....I love it.  Still, I'm surprised, that anyone, even an ignoramusi would be surprised that people would want to know WHO was so viciously attacking an organization ( BC.org) that is dedicated and DOES help so many women all over the world.  With the Duck - I'm thrilled to now Sealed

    Dinner - fresh sugar snap peas, just picked in my garden.  Salad, and sauted shrimp.  Yummy. Lots of fresh ginger, garlic, and "hot pepper" finished with Toasted Sesame Oil.  Munch, munch, munch.

    Riley - I hope Hadley is ok after the surgery. I'm sure you will do everything you can to help her - good luck. Also hoping for B9 results!!!

    Rosemary - good news on your heart test!!! Herceptin can cause some damage but not permanent. I refused Andriamycin because that does do permanent damage - not that my onc was going to give it to me anyway.

    I'm @work - just finished my scone (I think you call them biscuits) and am drinking my hot chocolate waiting for this damm development software to start up - same routine every morning - sigh.

    O.M.G.  The heat index is at 106 and it's 6:30 p.m. Tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter.  Yikes! 

    I had a granola bar for dinner.  Nothing else sounded good, except Barbara's lasagna.  I did have a very healthy salad for lunch though.
