PBMX and insurance

Hi

Anyone have a PBMX (brca not known) and insurance covered it? I want to get one but not sure if insurance coveers it. I know they, blue cross blue shield/anthem wont cover my genetic counseling. So I am wondering how to get them to cover my surgery.

Please, any tips or advice

    Lisa- This is on the Susan G Koman site regarding this-

    Insurance coverage

    At this time, there is no federal law requiring insurance providers to cover prophylactic mastectomy. Coverage varies state to state. To find out whether or not your state has a law requiring coverage for the procedure, visit the State Cancer Legislative Database Program at http://www.scld-nci.net/. You can also check with your insurance provider.

    Your best bet is to call your insurance company and ask them about coverage.  Good luck.
