Thank you Blue.
I am with you , Blue, on letting it go and moving along.
Looking forward to lunch since dinner was of the liquid variety.
-
Oh, Anne, I so hope your kitty is just carousing.
-
It's 9 am and I've already done 2 loads of wash and just finished cleaning the glass (inside and out) on our storm doors. Yesterday, I struggled getting to the onc's office by 11. This is after 3 hours sleep. Think the steriods in my premeds are working! I know I'll crash tomorrow, but may as well take advantage of them today.
I didn't post last night, but read every word. Good thing, because posting on steroids comes close to posting while drunk. I agree that we all need to let it go. Let's try, OK?
Barb, so very sorry about the job. I've also been there. Last week, I found a 12 year old letter that I wrote to a former boss. Never mailed it, but it made me feel so much better just to write it. I was tempted to send it on to him with a note that I still felt that way. Ha - I'm sure he's forgotten all about me - I sure need to let that go!
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
-
Glad to see we are still here, almost afraid the "other site" was going to bring its negativity here and implode. I do my best to avoid toxic relationships, so I use the ignore feature very quickly when I realize that person is going to push my buttons. That way, they can exercise their freedom of speech as much as they want, and I don't have to deal with the stress of wanting to argue with them. It leads to a peaceful existance. We are a diverse group of wonderful women that are doing our best to make lemonaide out of the lemons that life handed us. Throw in a splash of champagne and lets start off the morning with mimosas and just celebrate the fact that we are still here. Beats the hell out of the alternative!
Barb, update that resume, and float it out there. I know its a tough market, but any employer would be lucky to have you.
Ann, so sorry for your worry over Murphy. Hopefully he just met up with some fat cats at the pub and will be on his way home to you shortly. Hugs to you. My daughter's ragdoll has assumed his usual position almost on my keyboard, will roll onto it shortly and destroy everything. I sometimes wish he would party elsewhere!
-
Barbara, sorry about your job - I've been there and it can really ruin things and do nasty things to one's well being. I hope things improve.
Anne, so sorry to hear about your cat.
Blue, I'm with you!
-
I just posted a review. I think it's important to remember that BCO is more than just the community forum. It's OUR vital link, but there's so much more. The nastiness is about the forum, it seems.
-
Anne - hope Murphy's o.k. I hate when they do that - do you have any neighbours close by or a shed that was open yesterday and then closed last night - have you checked your utility room, did anyone have a plumber or electrician in - twice we lived in neighbourhoods where the cats were locked up by mistake - one was found in our garage after 10 DAYS - he was alive but hungry - the other one was found in the next door neighbour's basement - he got in with the plumber and was stranded for three days - he was also o.k. - neither of these were our cats - our cats were always wound around our ankles.
-
bluedahlia, take off your boxing gloves and you will find that you wont get half as much attention as you do at present, and as you have for years. or is it the attention you want. if you accuse women here of trying to take down bco, and not acknowledge that people are expressing their tiredness with domination tactics eminating from this thread, you need to be aware that you will be held accountable for your accusations.
-
BarbaraA- Glad you're feeling better - wish your job situation would improve (I've been there too - I think we all have) - bet you're looking forward to lunch!
-
that's life - I have been ignoring your interventions for a while. But this most recent posting really is over the top.
"Boxing gloves", "domination tactics", "you will be held accountable". Does any of this sound like it affirms your tag line about being part of the universe? Remember that the Desiderata which you quote starts with:
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others, -
Thanks, Sandy, I had a clementine to tide me over. But I could eat a horse (but I am waiting until lunch).
-
lassie, yes, exactly...i am speaking my truth quietly and clearly. thankyou.
-
Good morning, all. Just caught up reading. I'm feeling very Zen this morning and don't want to spoil the buzz so just jumping in for a moment.
Anne, I hope Murphy turns up fine. Barbara, big hugs. I hope you stumble upon a new opportunity or that there is improvement in your current employment.
-
that's life, that was a threatening post and I have reported it. I'm really sorry it has come to this. I don't understand what anyone here ever did to you.
-
No comment.
-
athena, it was not a threat, it was a statement. do you really think i would tolerate this bombardment of abuse and tactics silently? abuse and accusations that have gone on for months? do you really think no one is listening to this? or documenting this?
-
(((Anne)))) I hope your furbaby returns soon!
Eta--it seems I can't spell this morning!
-
athena, it was a statement. not a threat. if all parties are innocent, then there is nothing to fear re repercussions. if you believe you have been a kind and fair and considerate member of this website. then i do not see your concern?
-
-
Anne .. I'm so worried about Murphy. I hope he comes home. ((( Murphy )))
Lassie .. that was a beautiful post. I love the verses you wrote. They are so calming.
Speaking of domination, I can't get my dogs to listen to me, much less force my views or thoughts onto other people.
Blue .. honey, I know you have a heart of gold. You have talked me through some tough stuff in the past and I love you! I know you're just a phone call away!
Well .. it's hotter than hell out and I've been mowing. I've hidden from the heat for so long, I had a huge mess in the fields. I managed to mow two of them and then called it quits. I didn't see any snakes on the paths Alpal .. but I was looking! Didn't see any turtles today either. I do enjoy seeing them.
Hope everyone has a great day ... and Barbara that your's is getting better by the minute.
hugs,
Bren

h i have only responded to bluedahlias accusation. and i have ignored her order to stay quiet, as she herself said she was ignoring her order to stay quiet to accuse others of trying to bring down a website that is important to them. it is this bullying thread that people seem to be offended by, not the website.
feeling beat up on?...i dont feel that at all. that must be how you would feel if it was happening to you maybe? please dont start on the 'emotional' bit. i have seen that used on many members before, im not in the slightest bit emotional here...feeling very rational and calm actually. despite the attempts to make me feel isolated.
-
Thanks for the credit BinVA, but what I posted was from the same poem that thatslife has quoted in her tagline - the Desiderata by Max Ehrmann. (and where or where is the apostrophe that rightfully belongs in the name thatslife?!)
I was hoping thatslife would notice the part about going "placidly" and the part about "remember what peace there may be in silence." and especially "As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons." Apparently I was unsuccessful. Pity.
(edited to add the poet's name)
-
i think all could take the words of that poem and apply it here....
gosh, the more you post the words of that poem, the more apt i feel they are..
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit... -
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should....max ehrmann
-
That is a nice peom.
-
thats-life, Thanks for sharing the poem. I love the words.

Barbara, I think we had that horsemeat discussion a few pages ago? Maybe you could start with something lighter, such as a ham & cheese sandwich. OTOH, I would love a clementine right now!
I would hate to have had a job I truly disliked. Mine was mega-stressful, but only at certain times of the year and mostly because I took things too personally. Academic jobs involve a lot of direct criticism, from students, administrators, journal editors, granting agencies, etc. It seemed like every time I turned around, someone was handing me a critique of my performance. I bruised way too easily. I do agree that, if you can dust off and circulate your resume, it will probably make you feel better about going in to the job you have now.
OTOH, I was stuck in a less-than-healthy job situation once. It was a short-term job (2 years) at which I loved the work but was being treated badly by my boss. This wasn't anything serious, like sexual harassment -- it was just a major personality conflict.
I talked to a career counselor about it, and he pointed out that I had 3 choices: 1) I could stay in that job and continue to be miserable; 2) I could quit that job and find another one, hoping it would be better; or 3) I could stay in my job, acknowledge (to myself) that my boss was a crotchety old jerk, and figure out how to work with what I had. In other words, I should devise ways to "help" my boss do a better job himself. It actually turned out to be pretty easy, once I got past my resentment of the situation.
Anne, I'm so sorry to hear that Murphy is missing. I hope your search has a happy ending. I know it's scary, though.
I am going to take E's advice. Life is way too short to waste any of it on unnecessary conflict.

My daughter is doing much better today. Her face is still a little swollen, but the pain is not getting worse. She will be going to her summer job this aft despite me telling her to call her boss and tell him that she still has a hard time opening her mouth fully.
Anne, it is so nerve-wracking when our furbabies are missing. I am hoping Murphy comes home soon.
Does anyone know if I can book a walking tour of Soho/Gramercy Park/Meat Packing district? Any one here from NYC? Anne?
BTW, we are stayng at a Trump hotel...UGH! I didn't want to stay at ANY Trump property, but the prcie and location was good...so....
-
Barbara, I'm so sorry about the job stress. I do hope things can work out for you.
As a teacher I do understand stress.
