I agree alamik. I don't see why this site cannot be both serious and lighthearted...

Amen my darlinnkk!!

thats-life-
that was absolutely not a joke on WornOutMom's thread -- it was a very painfully true probability that there would be few long-term survivors who were diagnosed as Stage 3 and HER2+ who chose no chemo and no herceptin. This is a very painful thing to say -- I myself couldn't bring myself to say it on WornOutMom's thread -- but I consider that wimpiness on my part! The women who said it were not joking and certainly not making light of WOM -- they were deeply, genuinely concerned for her.
I'm so sorry you perceived it as a joke -- I don't know anybody here who would joke about something like that.
-
regardless of their intent annnyc, they drove the original poster away.
maybe she wasnt able to handle the 'tell it like it is tone' used
maybe, it wasnt necessary to bombard the thread, as was done, if what you say is true, it would have become self explanitory?
so the intent, of many members, defeated the purpose?
-
p.s. how many members here are oncologists? to have the audacity to frighten members with 'you will die' posts...i honestly cant understand how people are not getting this point?
-
and that is my point. chemo does not necessarily save lives, nor does alternative therapy, there are exceptions to this on both sides. good responses to treatment and amazing remission in some who attempt either. my point is respect and kindness when a new thread is trying to unfold. period.
-
thats-life-, I've just been looking at WOM's thread -- she posted on February 22 and was deep in very thoughtful discussion at the end of April (midway through the thread). She was very eloquent about her other health issues, and a lot of people were exchanging information with her about the possibility of getting Herceptin-only (which I really wish she could have done, and hope maybe she has been able to do -- she really wanted Herceptin).
I totally agree that there should be kindness. I do try to extend kindness -- and sometimes I "get into it" with people because I think they are being harsh or hurtful. But usually, lately, I try to just PM the person the harsh comment was directed at, to offer support.
-
WOM wasn't driven away, she made her decision and I hope she's happy with it. She got no reply to her question because no one with her stage and type of bc would refuse chemo/herceptin if they were sensible. We did however, get some posts from a woman who did choose to go alternative and ended up in a dire situation. We also got a post from someone who wasn't offered chemo with DCIS with a microinvasion who ended up Stage IV 2 years later. My heart goes out to anyone who wasn't given that opportunity, especially anyone who is Stage IV right from diagnosis. Life is SO cruel and we should all try to support each other.

'Morning all - Wow - to the Mods: this is very painful for those of us who have depended on BCO for support, knowledge and friendship - and who have donated to the organization. What the reviewers over there forget is how they once came here for support and received it. In fact, many of them, who gang up against BCO, met and became friends HERE.They are dragging the site's name through the mud because they cannot bully from within. They can no longer report posts with impunity or operate sock puppets that agree with and praise each other. There is nothing but ill will and absolutely NO intention of offering the public any real insight into BCO. Very cruel, and very defamatory. Legal action could probably be taken or at least a cease and desist letter brought to bear. Those people are playing with fire.
I am very sorry to see Melissa targeted and falsely accused of being in cahoots with anyone. Melissa, you have bent over backwards to not take sides.
Thank you again mods. You have always been helpful and responsive to me.
And this thread is for everyone on BCO. We are not an exclusive group. We are public, anyone can post and we are more likely to welcome people seeking refuge from being harassed elsewhere on the board than anything else.
Also, checking in on ((((Barbara)))) this morning.

Athena - don't forget Judith was mentioned there too. She also deserves our thanks and support.

this is very painful to members who would like refuge from being harrassed too

Can I gently suggest that instead of rehashing past exchanges, we move on? (It's too early here for me to offer anyone a drink from the BCO B&G, but maybe a virtual yogurt parfait would be in order? With blueberries, maple syrup and granola!)

That's-Life - you don't know the history behind that statement so don't take it as read. Blue was being harassed long before you or I joined this site.

do you know, i just looked at an old thread from 2007 called ' time to circle the wagons girls' ..amazingly, i saw that fighting has been going on since then, with members of this thread...and multiple deletions by mods.....i am shocked and amazed.... that this has been allowed to continue for years...maybe this is why there is a negative culture here? old ways of relating need to be replaced with a new, progressive, tolerant chat site.
-
Morning Gals!
Lots going on last night and this morning.
thats-life ... funny you should bring up the Wagon Circle thread. Yep, we had some disagreements from time to time, but we were also very close. Last fall, I had 15 survivors to my house for the weekend. We were all friends from the original Wagon Circle thread. Those friendships lasted over five years .. quite an impressive thing .. and we're all still very close. We no longer post on that thread, but elsewhere.
I sure hope this thread doesn't turn into a long drawn out discussion of who did what on what thread .. I prefer to talk about our daily lives and ups and downs.
Hope everyone has a good day,
Bren

Morning folks from hangover-land. Sheesh, I go to bed early and look what happens.
Mods, I want to thank you personally for the very difficult job you do here. I also posted a review on the other site but one poster added her comment to my post as well. In fact, her negative comment was added to EVERY post. Just wrong and smacks of a campaign to take down BCO. I am most apppreciative of BCO and will be making another donation today.
That's life, no group of people agrees all the time. Period. If you are searching for a 'progressive chat site' where there are no disagreements, good luck finding one.
Thanks for the hugs, gals, I am hating my job big time and not sleeping much. I do feel better today, thanks.
-
Barbara .. hope your headache goes away! I am so sorry your job is such a big problem right now. I do understand, as I worked in Human Resources in corporate America for a very long time. I know you have to travel a lot .. and that is so hard on you.
Sending you big hugs,
Bren

Hi Girls - DH and I have been counting up the money we don't have for our trip. I have been able to work out how much of my pay will be spare, so that looks good. I should claim it as spending money for me only
I just wish the people that owe him money would pay up and we would be really happy. We have had to arrange a personal loan just in case they don't pay, but at least we can pay it back quickly when the cheques arrive. Only 2 weeks until we leave - eeek!!! I am SO looking forward to visiting every patisserie in Paris
Time for bed..will catch up tomorrow.

Hi Mother ... the mods posted the link at the bottom of the Thank You thread. The thread is in the moderator forum at the bottom of the page.
Hope this helps. If not, let me know and I'll copy the link for you.
hugs,

Honestly and objectively, the negativity comes from both sides - those who hang out on this thread and those who don't like the people who hang out on this thread. I know I've had my moments. There's a long history behind the animosity on both sides and unless we all let go and move forward, it'll continue unabated forever. It reminds me of conflicts in the Middle East and elsewhere - conflicts rooted in centuries of inherited hate.
I'm going to try my best to let it go and move forward. I hope you'll all help me with that.

yes all, i will let you get back to your frivolities.
and yes enjoyful, i will assist you with that.

Good morning, everyone!
It is cloudy and warm here, and I am enjoying my morning latte.
My hubby and I are planning our trip to NYC next week...woohoo! One of our daughters was supposed to come with us --the one who had her wisdom teeth removed--but she can't take time off from work. So....just hubby and I....mmmmm wonder what we will be doing?

Barbara, I hope you're feeling better.
ETA: I agree enjoyful!
-
E and TL, I am letting it go also, and putting one foot in front of another.
Mary, sounds like a great trip! Hope you have lots of fun.
I am feeling better today but need to do something about my stupid job. Working on it.
-
(((((Barbara))))) I've had jobs like that. My two thoughts on them were: "I can't control how they treat me, but I do control where I work" -- and it always made me feel better to apply for other jobs, because at least I was taking action on my situation. Don't know if it works for everyone, but it worked for me. Glad you feel better today!

Sad and worried. My big kitty boy Murphy was not waiting for me when I got home yesterday afternoon. Always he's right by his food dish, in anticipation. He doesn't venture far off the deck. He's still not home. My other cat (who'd be outside all the time if I let him!) is too nervous to go out. I'm afraid some big critter got Murphy.
In our mountain neighborhood, a missing cat is a dead cat.
Sigh. And I just spent big, big bucks on blood work and his dental care...
I'll keep you updated here or on FB...
-
(((((AnneW))))) I'm so sorry to hear about Murphy! I'll keep my fingers crossed and send "come home Murphy" thoughts west to you. Forrest and Peaches (my kitties) add their "come home Murphy" thoughts as well.

Good morning. Batbara, hope today is better for you.
Ladies, let's ignore the negativity. It is quite obvious that jealousy is the motive behind the nastiness, both on this thread and on the review site. I'm not gonna take my own advice just for this post. These are the facts. They tried to shut down the thread. IT worked twice but not the third time. Then they tried to have me banned. Didn't work. Now they are trying to take BCO down. That won't work. This goes way back. Let's move on and just ignore any negativity because there is a motive behind it....and they wonder why we change to topic to food.
I have made a lot of good friends on this site and you have all been there for me not only for breast cancer but for my PD as well. The fact that my name is mentioned so many times on the review site speaks volumes. I'm not the type that will sit back and take it.....always have a retort at the ready, but they are not even worth the energy required, which is minimal.
Oh, one more thing thats-life. THat post you quoted is a direct response to pm's sent to Patzee badmouthing me. How supportive was that. Please don't post things out of context.
