Ladies - please remember that we have an "ignore" button that we can use.
Or simply a
would work. -
The answer is to each pos ONE positive review of bco. It does seem that the negative posters have a campaign going on but if we each post about our experience that could help counteract some of the negativity. Although I am puzzled by the one comment that is...
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
It really makes me wonder about the poster.
Please, do those who are negative really believe the world would be a better place without bco or do they just have to have their way no matter who it harms?
-
I've been accused of not having BC on that site and also that I'm not Canadian, among other things. I guess that's OK because I don't bleed when cut, eh?
-
Not that it bothers me, but thats life you brought it up. I just consider the source.

The source who postsxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx?

when women come to this board SICK, and are treated with suspicion, and questioned on their dx as i have been(maybe because i have NEVER asked for my path report, it scarred me too much to see, and my scan pics, which they offered to show me, but i declined) because maybe my lingo is not hi tech yet, or when one voices an opinion only to have it dismissed as an alter ego of someone else...how do think that feels for the members who go through this?...5 yrs here may have given you a tough skin, but im new...ish.

We at Breastcancer.org are listening to you and care very much about what you are saying. We are indeed often challenged and surprised by the highly complex community conflicts on the discussion boards. We are writing new rules of conduct and implementing technical improvements to allow us to monitor the boards more effectively. A "clean up" of the boards is necessary, but it is a huge task that needs to be done fairly, thoughtfully and carefully.
At this point, to save the threads that mean something to you, and keep the community live for you and the newbies who we care deeply about, we ask you to please encourage members to resist posting the negative comments and resist continuing the destructive public discourse. If you feel so compelled, also feel free to share other, non-negative, experiences in this public forum. If you are trying to shut down the boards, and this is your mission, and we have not offered you enough value in your breast cancer experience, that is your choice to hurt us. We are choosing to fight for you, our boards, and our valued members---- to keep the boards active, alive and free of charge to all of you. With great dedication and concern, The BCO Team -
And why would you hold me responsible? Because I started this thread? That's creepy!
-
i too am greatly concerned. why would my personal intention be to shut down the one site that has been a life line for me? it is the opinions of many, that has bought this issue to a head, and i am only one voice, standing up for something i believe is important.
-
what do you mean bd?, i am holding an outdated culture of abuse, self policing and free for all on other's opinions here responsible for it continuing, i see no move towards kindness and acceptance on this thread, just continuing taunts, plans, scouting, and goading.

Oh Moderators
Once again thank you for doing and doing well I job I could never handle.
I have posted a positive review on great nonprofits because bco has been so valuable to me.
-
I can't control how others perceive things. I like to laugh and use humour in a lot of my posts. If that is perceived as bullying then what.........
-
It is a shame that we are dealing with negative posting on this thread as of tonight. It is obvious to myself and I am sure others that this thread is suddenly being targeted so that the mods will shut it down.
I could say a lot more but better if I just

-
I have also posted a positive review.

Jancie:
I agree but the only way to stop this is to ignore it - all of us - we have many things to discuss that don't involve this negativity so let's all agree to ignore it and get on with our usual conversations - brussels sprouts anyone?

-
Sounds good Sandy!
-
Thank you for your help with keeping our boards up and alive, and understanding the gravity of the negative reviews to our sustainability. Your (positive) comments, and patience with resolving the complex issues on the boards, is invaluable --- especially to the women and support persons who are really counting on us being around!
On behalf of the hundreds of invaluable members, and future newbies, thank you.
-
thank you mods... hopefully this is a short bit of trauma to deal with.. an operation to recover from, for instance and not a late stage diagnosisro suddenly deal with.
Thank you so much to try to change things. I have been quite bothered by the attempts by some to take advantage of this forumllately. I hope your recent actions help This is a great place.
I hope those who are still disgruntled come to realize it is not important to argue or win arguments. life is short. as bobby mcfarrin sang... don't worry be happy. might as well be happy.
I think it is very helpful that holistic, alternative and complementary threads are open to the general community. and not over run by the exploitative sellers of alternative therapies available 'for sale'. I think our suggestions, helpful links and discussions would suffice wihout a constant barrage of links and pasted articles to links.
peace and love, apple / Mary

I'll have mine roasted, with balsamic vinegar. Also, a glass of Shiraz please?
-
for the record, i love to laugh, but not at other's expense. at stage IV, i am very aware of limited time on earth. i would suggest you all find better ways to spend your time. at least i can hold my head up.
-
Apple, we hope so as well. Regrettably, we aren't sure people necessarily understand that such hits to an organization on a site such as greatnonprofits.org can have very long-lasting, if not permanent, negative results.
-
BarbaraA:
Did you ever EAT dinner tonight? Are you feeling better? Hope so.
-
it's just a site.. the rather obscure review site.... who would check it before checking this site out?. not me. I personally would never investigate a forum for viability. One can in an instance decide if a forum or side is of interest.., is great or not.
heads up. this is a wonderful place.
-
I think she passed out after the third drink! Lucky her!!!!!!
-
moderators, i think the many who found they did not have a voice here, or were hurt by their experience here, or are afraid to post their opinions here actually are aware of the impact of those 'hits' to the review site. if it encourages change on this board then that is a good thing i would imagine. whether i am a part of the board in the future, or not, i hope it continues to become a progressive and tolerant place to discuss personal treatment choices.
-
Hi, all! Rutabagas, I say!
G'night.
otter
[Edited to clarify that the word "Rutabagas" was not directed toward anyone on these Boards... most notably "thats-life". It's just a word I like because it sounds funny, especially if you imagine Daffy Duck saying it.]
-
Changes toward the better are coming regardless of the reviews. In fact the negative reviews may slow the process of imlementling positive changes --- with the goal to bring us back to a more supportive, loving, respectful "sister-hood" environment.
Apple, as a breast cancer survivor, support person, who someone concerned about breast cancer, it is indeed rather unlikely that they will check out greatnonprofits.org before joining our community. However, funders, and overall reputation, rely very much on such review boards. If you end up with only very few stars, if can truly affect how you are viewed, and whether you receive the necessary support to survive and thrive.
-
i believe that yet again the issue has been diverted. it is this thread and the people who frequent it to discuss other members and alert each other to topics they disagree with, and then pursue those topics/members, that has upset so many people. it is not bc.org, it is not the many wonderful women and men who post here in support of others. it is the small culture of 'domination' that upsets people who come here....good luck with your pursuit of laughter, i know i stand alone here, but as i said, i can hold my head up knowing i have stood for what is right.
-
I am HORRIFIED by what I read on the other sight. Now I know what you are like and have apparently wasted so much time enjoying this particular thread. Ladies keep your chin up and know that everyone doesn't have the same nasty attitude others do. I adore you all!!! I'll be here "lurking" tomorrow kad2kar
