Joan, your son sounds like an amazing kid, and a charmer! I am sending you and your son (((HUGSSS)
Welcome to all the new posters! So nice to have new people here!
My daughter is doing better. I made her some ravioli with brown butter for dinner, and she was able to eat. She insists on going to her summer job tomorrow, but since she can only open her mouth 1/2 inch, I don't think it is a good idea! Oh well, she will have to decide.
((((Barbara)))) I hope you're doing better.
-
ravioli with browned butter.??? oh my that sounds good.
-
I still have mine (tinfoil hat, not ravioli) from last time.
-
I never take mine off!
-
Still have your tinfoil hat? Or your ravioli in brown butter?
-
Hahaha! I edited to clarify. :-)
-
Mary .. the ravioli sounds so good!
Barbara .. sending you a big hug buddy!

I read that Blue, which is why I got extremely cross when they started publishing our names form here.
BTW - the mods replied to me - they can't believe it either.

As emailed to another person earlier:
We are fully aware of the greatnonprofits.org website, and had actually posted the link on our discussion boards (in various forums before 1Athena1) because we thought our members would want to share their (hopefully positive) experiences. We were disheartened when we saw the negative reviews come in, especially in the last days. Most disappointingly, there seems to be an organized campaign by members of the BCO community to publicly criticize fellow members, moderators and the organization at large. Many of the reviews on the greatnonprofits.org discuss the issue of “their thread” and even use the screen names of our discussion board members.
It feels to us hard to believe that the members writing the negative reviews appreciate the potentially long-term negative impact such reviews can have on the vitality of an organization, such as BCO. Reviews, both positive and negative, can seriously affect funding, reputation, and overall sustainability of an organization. Our goal is to be able to keep our boards alive and free of charge for the next years to come.... to be there for our current valuable members and vulnerable newbies to come. We are saddened by the concerted efforts of members to take BCO “down” ---- the very site that gives them support, information, friendship and hope.
We are so, so sorry to those who count on our site and the support.
-
Mods - I am saddened by this turn of events as I am sure many other valuable members are also. Many of us stay on this site because of friends we have made and also the desire to "play it forward" by this I mean help out the newbies as we were helped when we first started this journey.
-
moderators, i think it is more the awareness of the review board that has resulted in more activity there, than a campaign. the very thread you are writing on has caused this problem, i hope your post is not speaking volumes about the affiliations here. this board has been invaluable to me, and needs to be in the future for new people who are sick. please take these reviews seriously, it is an indication that there are many people here who are unhappy.

When the same link and the same post is copied and pasted over and over and over again - that appears as to be a campaign of sorts - Just My Humble Opinion.
-
We are also saddened and hurt by those comments on the review site. This is a great organization and has helped hundreds of people whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer. I am sure you are quite aware of where the negativity is originating; a few who have become obsessed and are determined to do this horrid thing. I am not even sure these few are BC patients and have wondered at times if they are jr hi or hi school kids off for the summer.
Mods, please let us know if there is anything, anyway we can help to stop this. I am appalled! -
accusations of faking a breast cancer diagnosis are also rampant here on this board...and i am taking action on that. it is cruelty to imply that so mnay women who are very sick are making up their illness, as we speak, this is being addressed elswhere.
-
Mods, I would feel so bad if the vindictive actions of a few gave this site a bad reputation and led to loss of funding. I'm hoping greatnonprofits.org can fairly easily identify the posts that came from the same IP and remove them. The first review was posted in July 2009, then only a little over a dozen were posted over the two year span between then and now. Then all of a sudden this flurry of activity, which would suggest that someone(s) is making an effort to really defame BCO.
-
continuous accusations of sockpuppetry and multiple ID's are being addressed here and elsewhere as we speak. moderators are working on multiple ID's, as some here are stating they will have to notify mods about., i dont think you realise the impact of implying people are lying about their illness, or that they are one user claiming to be more than one...i really think you have no idea how cruel this is
