Surgery date set
Well, I will be having bilateral mx on August 8. they plan try and save my nipples. And do the tissue expanders immedately after. I had my MRI last week. And unfornately I was one of the rare people that the MRI is no help. Could not see tumor. My lymph nodes did light up but he said my be irratation from the stero biospy but it highly suspious for ca. So All I know as of now is I have IDC with at least 2.4 tumor size (stero biospy was positive on both ends). I am est/prog postitive. I am waiting back to see what my results are of Brca1/2... should fine out tomorrow hopefully. I am have been rollarcoaster of emotions.. I am good at one moment and feel really strong... to crying none stop the next.
I meet with the plastic surgeon today. He made me feel good. Saying feels good about making me look good, He said I have good skin, lots of skin so I am a really good candidate. I thought I was a middle B or maybe even small B.. And he clarified to me a couple of times. no you are defineatly a C. I,myself am trying to look at getting some perky boobs as a benefit... I feel like everything has been bad news so far.. So for me.. I am trying to look at the implants as positive... I dont know if anyone feels like that or not.. But please dont hold it against me...

motheroftwins- No one would ever hold it against you that you are trying to find something positive out of all of this. We've all been on that roller coaster so we understand what you're feeling. It can be so overwhelming in the beginning as you try to figure out how the heck to navigate all this while learning this new foreign language, breast cancer. It sounds like you've got a good plan in place, though. Being able to have a nipple sparing mx will go a long way towards feeling whole again. So much less disfiguring. The reconstruction will never feel like our natural girls but it is a whole lot better than what our mothers and grandmothers were offered. (Just wanted to add that you may want to check with the PS and ask him where he will be placing the incisions. Some put in under the fold of the breast so it becomes barely visible. But others still insist on taking it right through the center of the breast and skirting the nipples. (Why in God's name they do it this way I'll never know.) So you may want to ask about that.) There's some great threads on here about how to prepare for the mx (what to buy, pack, etc.) I think you'll find that once you get everything in place and are prepared (as much as any of us can be) there will be a lot less anxiety. And this site is such a great source of information and support as you go through the surgery and recon. There is also another thread I post on for those of us who have had NS. I will post a link for you. I really wish you the best of luck with everything.

I just had bi-lateral mastectomy and new boobs is definitely a silver lining in this whole thing plz don't worry about that. We all need to hold onto something positive in all this!!! the thought of that help me be able to look at my bald head with no breasts. My son cried tonight as he looked at our family pic with my long hair. it is hard to stay positive. Your doing gr8!!

You are doing the best you can do..no judgements from any of us here! This is crap to go through and it's hard. I had BLMX and did reconstruction with TEs and then implants. I am happy with my decision and got my implants a few weeks ago. They are a little bigger and perkier...that is a bonus.
