Unexplained Bruising

Options

Hi all!

I was wondering if anyone else has had something similar to what I'm experiencing...

I have several areas on my body (shoulder, lower-mid spine, shin) that feel like a bruise if I press onto it, but there is no discoloration of a bruise.  THEN, in the last few weeks, I discovered a HUGE bruise on my hip (at least 3 inches in diameter and every ugly color of the rainbow) that I have no recollection of how I got it.  I have since found a few smaller bruises on my legs that I have no idea how I got them.

The bruise feeling in my spine has been there for months.  My onc thought if felt muscular when he examined me, but said if it continued to bother me, we could check further into it.  Well here I am, still feeling this bruising feeling in my spine (and now a spot on my shoulder).  It isn't painful enough that I need to take any pain reliever.  I don't see my onc until Aug 11th, so I will bring it up again, and also ask about the noticible bruises.

Does anyone know if Tamoxifen can cause excessive bruising?  I looked up the side effects, but it wasn't listed.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

Thanks,

Sherrill

    Hi Sherrill...Google Tamoxifen and bruising.

It will give you information and even connects you to some threads here about that topic.

Thanks, Sheila! I guess I didn't look that hard :)  I did find a little info on it.  I was just wondering if anyone else has this also.  I will bring it up at my next appointment

    Hi,

I have had bruising the entire time I was on Tamoxifen. I think I may have inadvertenly made it worse by all the blood thinning supplements I was taking (fish oil, aspirin, etc.) I think it's a fairly common side effect of Tamoxifen.

Sherrill-I have always been an easy bruiser, but Tamoxifen has made it worse.

I would bring it up to your doctor, but I wouldn't worry about it much.

Thank you for your responses!  I'm not too worried about the visible bruises I'm getting now that it can be explained by Tamoxifen use.  I am a little concerned about the bruise feeling on my back that's been there for months, though.  The good news is that it isn't really getting worse, but it's not going away either.
