Acupuncture Working For Me!!!
I am willing to try just about anything rather than go through the aggravation of wrapping, massage, etc. My latest foray had been with the cold laser, which worked exceptionally well for me. No bandaging, no sleeve, etc. The only problem was that I had to go for maintenance treatments every six months. (I told you I'm lazy.) Well after checking with a phenomenally gifted acupuncturist in my state - he's an ob-gyn to boot but really sold on Chinese medicine - I was convinced to give it a try. I've been going to him for about two months and my arm is definitely smaller. Not only does he use needles on me but he uses them on the affected side. He told me I will be with him for at least seven months if I want the condition to be reversed permanently. At the same time, He's treating me for everything and anything else that ails me - allergies, poor circulation, sinusitis (along with cancer prevention).
Though he doesn't specifically list LE as one of the things he treats for, he did tell me that he had treated a variety of patients for LE, and all cases had successful outcomes.
In case anyone lives in the NE area and is interested in knowing more about the doctor and his center, this is the website. Feel free to PM me with any questions. I am a definitely a hit and run poster!

It worked for me as well. I have also felt relief on my hot flashes. Yay accupuncture.

SO GOOD TO HEAR YOUR GOOD NEWS!
We can send your "lymphedema" to the same place my Acupuncturist sent the joint pain from Arimidex. Lovely to hear of another bc sister finding this healing.

YAY ACUPUNCTURE! is right!!!
This doctor is phenomenal. You should see the size of the center and how crowded it always is. Plus the place is wall-to-wall testimonials. You can't even see what color the paint is because every available inch has patient testimonials.
Something kind of funny. I was supposed to start my femara trial last week. Well when I told my acupuncturist about it, he told me he wanted me to wait at least two more months because otherwise it could skew his results and he really needed to be able to know how well I was in balance without anything interfering. So I actually had to call Dana Faber and tell them that I was putting off starting the trial on the recommendation of my acupuncturist.
Think about that for a minute!

HappyTrisha - This is great news! I found that acupuncture didn't help my LE so much, BUT that it helped with just a slew of other things I had going on! I wish it had helped, but there is not too much that works for my arm other than exercise - and that helps keep it maintained, even if it does not decrease it. Also picking the right sleeve helps... and that has been a learning experience in itself. And I am with you - I will try most anything for my LE... considered, considering and will consider surgery at some point in the future... but not ready to jump that fence yet - I continue to wait for them to make it safer... Someday they will grow me new nodes in a petri dish and transplant them - but I may be ancient by then!
Anyway - congrats on your improvement! Always great to hear!

Nordy, I had also been reading up on the node transplant but was definitely on the fence about that - wanted it perfected a bit more, and I'm really surgeried out at this point! I wish you lived in my neck of the woods because I guarantee you that this doc could have helped your LE. Did you go for many treatments? The way they explained it to me was that the first thing that you see is symptom abatement but if they don't continue to work on the problem itself, the problem will return. They also told me that it might get worse before it gets better - and I did have a few days where it really swelled. But now it seems to be getting better and better. I'm probably into at least 5 more months there, but I don't care. I started off having to go three times a week, and after next week I will have graduated to only twice a week! YAY! The doctor does a major re-exam every 12 treatments and that's how he knows what's working and what isn't - plus every time I go there he feels my pulses and looks at my tongue. I swear the guy is a genius. Again if you look at his testimonials, he's treated people for just about everything. I had heard about him by reputation a long time ago because he had successfully treated some big whig who had stomach cancer and was just about hanging on. He told me he currently has some stage 4 cancer patients, and he has also treated women with breast cancer. But I'm certain he believes in both western and eastern medicine - as do I.
