Women need real moments of solitude and self-reflection to balance out how much of ourselves we give away. - Barbara De Angelis

    Celestial Queen Floral Design

    Preparing to Greet the Goddess

    Do not think of her
    unless you are prepared
to be driven to your limits,
    to rush forth from yourself
    like a ritual bowl overflowing
    with sacramental wine.

     Do not summon her image
unless you are ready to be blinded,
     to stand in the flash
     of a center exploding,
     yourself shattering into the landscape,
wavering bits of bark and water.

     Do not speak her name
     until you have said good-bye
to all your familiar trinkets --
     your mirrors, your bracelets,
     your childhood adorations --
From now on you are nothing,
a ghost sighing at the window,
     a voice singing under water.

            Dorothy Walters (1928- )

"Love makes the brain," writes psychotherapist Janov (The Primal Scream; Why You Get Sick, How You Get Well) in this analysis of brain chemistry and emotion. Neurological research, he argues, confirms his theory that trauma from infancy, birth or the prenatal environment irrevocably damages brain functioning and leads to a plethora of physical and emotional ailments. Fully loved infants, however, develop healthy brains that enable them to cope well with life. Everything from autism and allergies to dyslexia, ADD, cancer and heart disease in later life, and even homosexuality and intellectualism (conditions Janov apparently considers aberrant) can be traced, in his view, simply to lack of adequate love."

    ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE

If there was ever a time to dare,
    to make a difference,
to embark on something worth doing,

    IT IS NOW.

Not for any grand cause, necessarily...
but for something that tugs at your heart,
    something that's your inspiration,

    something that's your dream.

    You owe it to yourself
    to make your days count.

    HAVE FUN.

    DIG DEEP.

    STRETCH.

    DREAM BIG.

Know, though, that things worth doing seldom come easy.
    There will be good days.
And there will be bad days.

There will be times when you want to turn around,
    pack it up,
    and call it quits.

    Those times tell you
    that you are pushing yourself,
that you are not afraid to learn by trying.

    PERSIST.

    Because with an idea,
    determination,
    and the right tools,
    you can do great things.

    Let your instincts,
    your intellect,
    and your heart,
    guide you.

    TRUST.

Believe in the incredible power of the human mind.
Of doing something that makes a difference.
    Of working hard.
    Of laughing and hoping.
    Of lazy afternoons.
    Of lasting friends.
Of all the things that will cross your path this year.

    The start of something new
brings the hope of something great,

    ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

    Broken Heart

Not with a club the heart is broken

    Nor with a stone

A whip, so small you could not see it,

    I've known

    To lash the magic creature

    Till it fell

Yet that whip's name too noble

    Then to tell

    Magnanimous of bird

    By boy decried

    To sing unto the stone

    Of which it died

In the arm of the angel, lyrics by Sarah McLachlan

Spend all your time waiting for that second chance
For the break that will make it ok
There's always some reason to feel not good enough
And it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction oh beautiful release
    Memories seep from my veins
They may be empty and weightless and maybe
    I'll find some peace tonight

In the arms of an Angel fly away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here

So tired of the straight line, and everywhere you turn
There's vultures and thieves at your back
The storm keeps on twisting, you keep on building the lies
That you make up for all that you lack
It don't make no difference, escaping one last time
    It's easier to believe
In this sweet madness, oh this glorious sadness
That brings me to my knees

In the arms of an Angel far away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
In the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here

You're in the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here

    This warrior woman has come
    fully alive today,
She is no longer anyone's slave or prey,
She is taking back her life today,
And those who know who she truly is,
    can stay.
No longer will she live the lives of others,
She will give back the blames and responsibilities of others
    where it belongs,
For she also has the bear and wolf inside her,
which is now so very powerful
    and uniquely strong.
