LIFE'S A BEACH!

fun to see whales...San Diego is on one of the migratory paths so we could see them twice a year but we have to have luck each time to see them
-
We were in Magdalena Bay one year as the momma grey's brought the babies into the bay to eat and learn to swim properly. Seriously. The babies rode on mommy's back so they learned to go up and down in the water. Truly life altering to watch...sigh
Faith, I WARNED you about the sun...didn't I??????? Where are the pix of the plein air artists? One year you posted the work in progress so neat to see!!!
-
Joni how cool!,
-
Joni - loved the beach picture and the writing. Glad you had a good time and the weather cooperated. And how cool to see the whales. I keep wanting for DH to take me on an Alaskan cruise to see the whales. Maybe one of these years.
Hope everyone is staying cool and out of this unbearable heat. Five minutes outside and you are wringing wet with sweat! And that is without doing anything except standing in the shade!!!! It is not supposed to be this hot in NC.

BARBE!!! The festival tonight (Plein Air) was sooooooooo awesome. All 40 artists at our marina for the sunset. Band playing. We (the 3 yoga-gals) bought patron tickets so we got to hob-nob in the big tent with the goodies and a never ending wine bar.
I took a couple hundred photos, lots fewer than in the past, cuz my yoga buds kept distracting me from my documenting how cool it all is at it unfolds over the two hour paint-off.
It is truly one of the neatest things that happens. Tomorrow night they're in a little village to our south. Hmmmmmmmm. Just realized tomorrow night is the guys fishing, but they're going north.
Maybe I can find a ride?
It will be glorious. Do you think I could learn to drive a motorcycle overnight? LOL
toooooooo much wine, better edit, spelling disolves w a glass of wine............

LOLOL Lisa
Look at the parade!!!!
-
The birds were all looking at the Convention Center like they were supposed to go there..lol
-
That is WAY cool Lisa!! Like a Mexican stand-off. Or an urban/rural skyline. When I frame my pieces I always name them. Sometimes it's the name that makes the picture special.
Faith are you going to post pics of the artists???
-
Lisa love the photo all it needs is music and the birds can start their march.
Tinyfishy probably will not like me posting this but I always call this his bird pose.
-
He raises one leg!!! hehehehehehe
-
Here is the ultimate beach for those who are sweltering.
-
Thanks Lisa.
-
Lisa - love the picture no matter what you call it.
Mum - Tinyfishy looks like he is resting befroe taking flight. hehehehe
-
this flamingo is reminding me of Tiny Fishy on one leg
-
Lisa - where on earth do you come up with all these beautiful pictures?
-
I just carry my handy dandy camera with me...no secret...amyjo..
-
Guess I will have to start remembering I have a camera in my purse, but I know mine will never match up to yours and Mum and Tinyfishy. And I do miss Melissa's pictures here.
-
I have a flamingo pic too!! We have a zoo up here that stores the animals in the barn all winter with the radio on.
-
We were there in the spring. Here is a pic of a baby giraffe, see how much bigger mom is!!!
(This is my fav zoo pic...hehehehehe....look at his tongue - these pix are all on my Facebook photos page.)
-
don't you love the long eyelashes the giraffes have..
-
You can really see the difference in height here..too
I like to go to the see the giraffes first thing before anyone gets there.
They are soooooo curious and love to come over and take
a look at me...
-
Barbe, I love the eye of the flamingo you caught in the photo...
we have the zoo here, but they live outside all year long..I don't see
the flamingoes often when they are nesting, but I did see them last year
-
OMG those pix are awesome!!
-
Today instead of the beach, I went to the zoo..
I got there early..
Here is a young giraffe
-
giraffes are my favs! I collected giraffe figurines for years, but ended up finding other people who collected them way more seriously than I did & passed most of them on. I've saved a few. I LOVE their purple tongues! When I was in 2nd grade, I lived in a small town about 30 miles from Portland Or. Our teacher arranged a field trip to the Portland Zoo on the day that Packy, the 1st baby elephant born in captivity in a US zoo (I think that was his claim to fame), was being revealed. At that time zoos weren't so environmentally correct & the giraffes were in this BIG cement enclosure that had viewing areas level with the animals heads. I was standing there watching & this giraffe came over by me & unfurled it's tongue---I was astounded! Loved them ever since.
-
the giraffes are just delightful..glad you saved a few of your figurines..
saw some other critters too..
-
