Hi Ladies,

When I went through breast cancer some of my friends complained that there weren't any Cancer cards they could find. I thought, "How can this be with so many people facing cancer"?

Perhaps no one knows what to say to us. So I am developing a line of Big Bad Cancer Cards. As an art director, I have the skills to pull this together.

But I do need your input.

What is it that you wish someone would have said to you durning treatments? Please tell me what type of cards would move you, make you laugh and lift your spirit.

I would love to have you all be a part of this.

xoxo

Jobu

I had a lot of friends from church send me nice "thinking of you" cards to let me know they were concerned.  It was nice to know people cared.  Depending on the friend though, you might want a nice "sick sense of humor" kind of card about "stupid boobs" or something like that.  Of course it would have to appeal to just a select audiance.

    WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!

Here are some card ideas for friends:

Yikes! Cancer! How scary! But I am here with you and I will support you every step of the way.

Now is not the time to be polite and say "no" to offers of help. Anything you need, call on me and I'll be there for you.

You are not alone in this journey. Shopping, meals, childcare, or just a shoulder to cry on, you can count on me.

And here is the nicest thing my husband ever said to me, right before my mastectomy. Perhaps this could be made into a card somehow:

When this surgery is over, if you don't feel like having sex for a while, I will totally understand. But don't let it be because you think you are not beautiful to me. You are and you always will be.

I wish my husband would say that to me.

Hi, Apple. My marriage is not perfect either, but he is standing by me. I am sending warmth and thoughts of health your way - to your body and your marriage. Maybe you could show your husband this page and tell him how much you appreciate him. It's hard to be the one reaching out when the hubby's not doing it, but with cancer staring us in the face we can't afford not to.

If someone is going thru chemo, perhaps a Chemo Savvy card, with some cute graphics.  I have some note cards with 2 cupcakes with pink icing and a cherry in the middle - look like "boobs"...

GramE: Cute idea. And speaking of chemo, I am imagining a card that tells us there's more to life than hair!
