ooohhh...Blue - I know..I loved LOVED Jack Lemmon in that one. Still funny, and Joe E. Browns facial expression the vry last frame, on the boat is right up there for me with "round up the usual suspects."
-
Why on earth would your posts be deleted, Jancie??? (Half in shock)
-
toooooo funny - Jancie responds very calmly to a THREAT, a vicious threat, and her post is deleted too. OH, right, "we have to be fair."
and don't forget to keep using the IGNORE button - let the Alt formum go completely on it's own -for those who have ANY interest, SusieQ's thread is still some what sane - but really WHY would an organization now taking $$$ from a LARGE Multi national (French based) company allow that kind of posting? OH, I know - to correct anyone, even if that person says Ductal Cancer in Situ is NOT CANCER, WOULD BE "CENSORING." I forget fast. Better have that cold iced tea now.
-
Report all posts that break the rules. Community deletions lead to bannings, but moderator deletions do not. It's a shame because the current system, while effective in some ways, discourages working with the mods - unless they take more forceful action against repeat offenders.
I post this publicly so that the mods can be aware of the situation. I have PMd them too.
ETA: Until 2-3 months ago, even wanting someone banned was unheard of for most of us. Pity that it is on everyone's mind now.
-
This thread is amusing. I'll have anything with a little umbrella in it :0)
-
Thanks for clarifying that, Athena. So this means the Moderators are still allowing "drive by shootings." OK. I see. Still, I'm not goig to bother being a "monitor" until I get more support from the Moderators. No more "use the ignore button" - especially not after thenewme's thread.
Stay cooooool all my fellow gangstas...

Somebody please help me. I was busily trying to catch up when the fly joke came up. I didn't get it but figured maybe I would later. I really don't want to go back and read it again, my head hurts, it's too hot, whine, grovel....please somebody fill me in on the joke. Here or PM, please, pretty please with a cherry on top.....oh and not to be difficult but I'd really like sangria.
-
OK, here it is. Think really, really hard.
"How many flies does it take to screw in a lightbulb?"
"Two."(Hint: fly sex is inherently funny.)
-
LOL, thanks!
-
Hi sewingnut, welcome. Have a cocktail, we all need one after today. The BCO Bar & Grill is open.
-
Bartender, Sewingnut needs a mai tai -- and don't forget the umbrella!
-
Jancie, if it is any consolation, being deleted by the mods carries no penalty. DOH!
-
I'll have 2.....It's hotter than hades here.
-
I'm in charge of lobotomies today. Who's bartending?
-
Hi Girls - it's Friday!!!
I have an idea - maybe I could get a job as a forum moderator - I am in IT. I know what I would do first

Thenewme sent me her email address the other day, so I will write to her and see if I can coax her back.
Sue
-
I would but I have to go eBay now. Shedding life's accumulations and also some cool stuff.
-
Whoever is bartending is doing a good job. Headache is gone.
I nominate Susie for moderator. I hope you succeed in coaxing thenewme back.
I FINALLY GOT THE LIGHTBULB JOKE! I think my brain works better with a lobotomy.

-
Hahaha, Athena - it was my helpful hint! Or else all the alcohol that's flowing around here.
L
-
Well I can't do EVERYTHING! LOL!
Have fun Barb!
-
Hi ladies,
I'm just doing a drive by of my own to say "thank you" to thenewme for the letter, and for the support (and restraint) you showed in response to her post. I love reading your thread - no, I never (well maybe almost never) post here - but, I enjoy the conversatison none the less. It's a shame that good people don't feel they can stay, but I'm hoping the changes coming down the road can rid us all of some of the antagonists you have to deflect on a daily basis.
Much love and thanks to all the wonderful, kicka** women who post here!

Navy .. the BCO Bar & Gill is open .. what can we get for you? I hope you stay around and enjoy all the fun and friendship on this thread.
hugs,
Bren

Welcome, navygirl, come in and have a drink on the house.

How the heck am I supposed to take time out to fix supper with all this going on?
I'm so dense... (lobotomy?). After getting as far as Page 437 of this thread, I opened another browser window to see what all the fuss was about. I found thenewme's thread and started reading, fully aware that a Cat 4 hurricane was on its way. What I couldn't figure out was why there were no "Report this Post" buttons on any of the posts in that thread. I was worried thenewme's articulate O.P. was gonna end up reported and gone at some point, ... but there was no button.
I started working on something to post in support of thenewme's plea. I planned to mention some journal articles I'd read that evaluted the trustworthiness of information posted on public discussion forums dealing with medical issues. The bottom line in those papers? Public forums could be reasonably trustworthy (from a physician's point of view) if the members were careful to self-police the content being posted there.
But first I came back here to catch up... and learned that thenewme's thread was already locked (which explains why there weren't any "Report" buttons).
I've had to increase the number of Rolaids I take each day because of the turmoil on these Boards. I just tell myself the extra calcium is good.
Okay, gotta go. Mr. otter has been grouchy lately. Our summer has not been going as smoothly as hoped (i.e., we're not in the Rocky Mountains with him fly fishing, where he wanted to be by now).
One word: rutabaga.

[Edited to add: Hi, navygirl! Glad you stopped by.]

HAHAHAHAHA...thanks lewing ... I think I am the LAST person to have gotten the fly joke! Duh!
Please stick around, Navy... We are fun and hace some good food stories and dinner menus, plus interesting stuff on the side.
DH picked me up at the bus today -- it was too hot to walk a half mile up the hill. Whiiiiiiiiiiineeeeee! Even the cats are staying in the basement where it is cooler -- and our air conditioning works fine.
Can I have a refill on the vodka and lemonade? My PC has a virus (I believe) that has shut down my avast antivirus program -- AND it won't let me restore the computer back to a point earlier than 6/19, which is when the Windows updates started failing to install. Running Malwarebytes right now -- at least I have connectivity through my iPad! I don't dare log in to anything with my PC until it is fixed. I may not be able to salvage it this time -- I might actually have to seek professional help!

Just iced water for me please - til almost bedtime and then change the water to Scotch.
I learned in Scotland not to ask for Scotch. Ask for whiskey instead. Then I had to pick one from the wide wall full of choices. It was the good kind of tough decisions.
-
McCallum 12 YO. Neat.
-
Happy Libby-professional help? Oh my...I will sit on my hands.
-
HAHAHAHA Rosemary ... No, it won't help that, I'm afraid, although i might need that kind of professional help if I can't get the dang thing fixed!
L -
Let me at it, HL, I can kill any virus because I never give up. I taught my brother how to do just that and he has a successful computer repair business now.
