    Devotion is a fire

...a flame of tenderness that mounts up in its joy of approach unto the Godhead

...that sunders all the cords that bind humanity to the earth and the earthy state of consciousness

...that causes that buoyant joy to become a thing alive

...as a flower bursting forth into the fountain of foreverness, consciousness, infusing elemental life and all with the beauty of the coming dawn.

As a tree seed planted into the ground,
I have slowly slipped my tiny roots into life, gingerly sensing a safe place to take root and grow.
As I have grown and become more secure within my setting,
I am able to branch out my love
nurturing others whose path has brought them beneath my shade.
At times my refuge may be another,
or just a knowing that I am safe and loved
within the bond of my mother earth and Father heaven.

The traits of the solitary bird are five:
    the first, that it flies to the highest place;
    the second, that it does not suffer for company, not even of its own kind;
    the third, that it aims its beak to the skies;
    the fourth, that it does not have a definite color;
the fifth, that it sings very softly.

I am new to this board, and newly diagnoised with breast cancer.  I am 53 and went for a mamogram, which came back with calcifications, told to wait come back in 6 month. i went back before 6 months, because i wasnt comfortable knowing that something is in my breast. The radiologist was sure it wasnt positive, but offered a biopsy , i think to make me feel better. They were surprised when it came back in situ stage 1. I had my lumpectomy but, the pathology came back that there was another spot under, so second surgery and then major infection.

I am going to have chemo first, then radation and followed up with hormone therapy.  I guess, i am confused with all the information that i have.  I have been reading the post for several days,  there is some very strong women out there.  Any tips to deal with side effects or what to look for

By the way, my name is Teresa Kiss

    Welcome Teresa!

I'm sure you have a lot of questions about your upcoming treatment plan.  I would suggest you post in the "Just Diagnosed" forum that way you're sure to get plenty of responses.  You may also want to post in the "Chemotherapy" forum for advice and tips on that treatment.

I didn't have chemo, so I can't help you with that .. but if you have questions about radiation I can try to answer those for you.

    Sending hugs,

    Bren

Royalty-Free (RF) Clipart Illustration of a White Swirl Heart On A Red Shining Background by Qiun

    Heart Beat

Only mouths are we. Who sings the distant heart
which safely exists in the center of all things?
His giant heartbeat is diverted in us
into little pulses. And his giant grief is, like

    his giant jubilation, far too
great for us. And so we tear ourselves away
From him time after time, remaining only

    mouths. But unexpectedly and secretly
the giant heartbeat enters our being,
    so that we scream ----,
and are transformed in being and in countenance.

                 - Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926)

"I believe that the very purpose of life is to be happy. From the very core of our being, we desire contentment. In my own limited experience I have found that the more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being. Cultivating a close, warmhearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. It helps remove whatever fears or insecurities we may have and gives us the strength to cope with any obstacles we encounter. It is the principal source of success in life. Since we are not solely material creatures, it is a mistake to place all our hopes for happiness on external development alone. The key is to develop inner peace."

"Pain happens, while suffering is optional

"That which resists, persists," says a very old dictum borrowed from Eastern spiritual teachings. Though in some circles it has become a cliché, there is great wisdom in it. Pain can come into our lives in many ways. To resist it is, above all, to deny that it already is with us and to go on blindly fighting against what happens. But to struggle with pain is to struggle with reality, and, according to our experience, to struggle with reality is almost always a bad deal. To understand how useless it is to resist pain, let's imagine two wheels joined by crossbars and that a hamster is trying to leap from one crossbar to the other. One crossbar is labeled "pain." Regardless of the crossbar on which the hamster begins running, it will always have to pass the crossbar "pain". It doesn't matter whether the hamster leaps towards that crossbar or away from it: sooner or later it will have jump on it, and the quicker it runs, the quicker it will be on the one labeled "pain" again. Pain is part of human life as much as pleasure and joy." Luis Diaz

    Can You Imagine?
(For the Child in All of Us)
    by Robert F. Potts

Can you imagine a world without witches,
A world with all people the same?
Where the only known dragons are hiding in books,
    And children are terribly tame?
A world without magic would be sad indeed.
    I cannot imagine the pain
Of having a world where there's no Santa Claus,
Where wizards are searched for in vain.

Can you imagine a world without spells,
    That science and businesses run?
And think of the sadness a unicorn feels
When he no longer plays in the sun
Can you imagine a world without witches,
No elves, and no magical pools?
And can you imagine how dull it would be
If all that we had were the schools?

I cannot imagine a world without witches,
A world with no magical wand.
A world without beauty, or even a dream,
Or a wood sprite of whom to be fond
They say I should grow up and be more mature,
Like a normal adult ought to do.
But I'd rather, at night, go to dance with a witch,
And I'll bet that you feel that way, too.

Buy an outfit you wouldn't be caught dead in and live in it. Try wearing some six inch heels.

Have sex in unusual places. Get your palm read.

Paint the town red. Get a facial.

Dye your hair. E-mail a pornographic love letter to someone in the office and watch the reaction.

Get a puppy. Get a baby-sitter. Go to the foofoo parlor and get a new do.

Call in sick and play with the puppy all day.

Sneak into a place where you're not supposed to be.

Sneak out of a place where you are supposed to be.

Buy some fishnet stockings and wear 'em with the six inch heels.

Put some wild designs on the cast you now have on your ankle.

Make an obscene phone call. Steal something then put it back.

Hear ye the words of the

    Star Goddess ...

She, in the dust of whose feet

are the hosts of Heaven, whose body encircles

    the Universe ...

    I, who am the Beauty

of the Green Earth and the White Moon

upon the Mysteries of the Waters ...

I call upon your soul ...

    Arise and come unto me.

For I am the Soul of Nature
that gives Life to the Universe.
From me All things Proceed ...

    And unto me

    They must Return ....

    Therefore ....

Let My worship be in the
    heart that rejoices, for behold,
all acts of love and pleasure
    are My rituals.

Let there be beauty and strength,
    power and compassion,
    honor and humility,
mirth and reverence within you ....

And to you, who seek to Know me,
Know that the seeking and yearning
    Will avail you Not ...
Unless you know this Mystery ....
... For if that which you seek,
    You find not Within yourself,
You will never find it Without ...

    For Behold,
I have been with you from the Beginning,
and I am that which is attained
at the end of All Desire.'
