I actually paniced yesterday because I went to a family party, had beef, pasta, cake and oh yeah salad and a diet coke. I thought OMG this is why I got bc it's the way I eat. Then I laid on my couch and watched everyone run, walk, bike past my house. I need to get motivated to excersize. Radiation is knocking me out though. I have incorporated more veggies and fruit and cutting back on meat.
Do you think if I just gradually make changes that's okay?
I just love sugar....why is it so bad....bummer. Wish beans were as good.

So I haven't checked this thread in a few days and you guys are on a roll!
I LOVE southern food, and of course anything fried. We have DELICIOUS Maryland blue crabs here and those aren't too bad for you as long as you stay away from the melted butter! We also have DELICIOUS (some might not agree) SCRAPPLE!!!! Anyone out there know what's in Scrapple????:::)))) And give me a hunk of bacon, mmmm, bacon......summertime, nothing like a BLT w/a homegrown beefsteak tomatoe and some Eastern shore corn. Oh, and of course give me my Bloody Mary to start with some Old Bay Seasoning and I'm good to go!!!!

ohhhhhhh pupfoster I never thought of using old bay to spice up a bloody mary!!! I am so going to try that this weekend

Hi, I can bring my lap top and I will bring some movies along. Does anyone have a favorite movie they want me to bring to help pass the time on the bus? While we are not eating and drinking of course. SharonH.
-
My fav OLD movie is Bringing Up Baby w/Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant. Truly a madcap comedy! I hate to admit it but my new fav's are Tropic Thunder and The Hangover for comedies, and Eat Pray Love for a drama.

The wine bar I frequent did Don Juan Demarco on my birthday which is shortly before Valentine's Day. So we drank wine, ate chocolate, and watched the film. One of the best birthdays I have ever had.
I would win a "slouch award" except I ruined it by walking the mile each way. - Claire

I am from Philly so I know what scrapple is. And unfortunately I LOVE it! I think u probably have to grow up with it to like it though.
-
where did everybody go?????
DID THE BUS LEAVE WITHOUT ME!!!!!!!!!! lol
-
I'm still here checking in! No Scrapple this morning just some Good Grains cereal.
Sharon
-
What the hell is scrapple?
Is it anything like scrabble?
Cyndi
-
It's cooked up "ends and pieces" of a porker mixed with corn meal/buckwheat/flour, so a cousin of head cheese. I think it's delish, and something I need to find and make for myself one day again.
But not something you can serve to company unless you ask first. - Claire
-
LOL Cyndi!
I was waiting to see if anyone was wondering what scrapple is! Mostly a southern thing, but when I was growing up my Grandparents and Mom used to slice it (comes in a loaf) coat it w/flour then fry until crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. THEN served it w/syrup over it w/eggs or whatever! YUMMMOOOO!!!!
Sharon

Hi,, I am still here. I would be willing to try scrapple. All is good here. SharonH.

Yeah Sharon (great name btw)!!!!

Wonder what's up with Weesa? She hasn't posted in a few days.
-
Mmmm scrapple with ketsup. We just got Tasycakes here. Krumpets rule.
-
Is there a gathering?
-
K-Lo, are you originally from Philly? Tasty Cakes are great! But scrapple with catsup is da bomb.
-
well ladies, i'm definitely headed to Slouchville - aka Martha's Vineyard - for a week, where I shall undoubtedly indulge in ice cream, AMAZING ribs, and some donuts, even. I will be thinking of all of you and see you when I return! Have a great week -- xo

bump! (i love this thread - weesa, how are you, anyway?)
thought of this thread when i ate a scrumptious sugar bomb (aka cupcake) from Magnolia Bakery today......yumyum
-
I had a heaping tablespoon of chocolate chip cookie dough. It was delicious.

I've been slouching along, even slouching at keeping up with this thread. I thought it had died a natural death and been relegated to a back page, but thanks to PlantLover and elmcity69 it has a new shelf life.
.Stay tuned here for a stage 3 (and their loyal supporters) get together.(Ack! would anybody like me if they really met me?..or would they think, god, what a pitiful wreck of a woman, she probably doesn't take her supplements...)

While in Scotland visiting my husband, I had white potatoes with every dish I ordered....asparagus/goat cheese tart with chips (fries) and potato salad. Not to mention the 2 scoops of Sticky toffee ice cream almost every evening....but we had to walk to get the ice cream so it didn't count. Nor did the whisky at the distilleries because everything is an uphill walk.
So today I picked up my food co-op box of fresh veggies and am wishing for sticky toffee ice cream.
Thinking a gathering might be good.

Not only do I drink beer sometimes but I do it while playing Farmville. And watching Hoarders, I tell myself I'm "healing" after being laid off and before starting radiation. I'm not sure what I'm healing from. Oh, yeah, the lumpectomy and then fracturing a bone in my face requiring more surgery by tumbling down the stairs. My sis and daughter stayed with me.They barraccaed the stairs with my dresser so I couldnl't "escape" I haven't slept walked for 15 years and I tripped over the cat. I snidely asked "where's the baby gate?" They threatened to tie my leg to the bed post. It doesn't matter. They don't listen. Soon I will spring into action. I'm just not ready yet. I'm in the planning stages.

I sometimes drink beer while playing Farmville and watching "Hoarders"
Soon I will spring into action. But not right now. I'm not "feeling it"
I'm in the planning stages.
