Finding an LE doc in the Ny area is proving hard. An ER without proper understanding of the condition is really a difficult experience. Anyone in Manhattan or Long Island have a doc? I am considering "becoming a patient" of a NY doc so the next time I have a flare there and away form home----I can get access to informed medical care.

Hmmm... I don't know about Manhattan, but on Long Island there is the Lymphedema Therapy center in Woodbury. Dr. Marvin Boris is the MD - Bonnie Lasinski is the main PT... and I think there was one other MD involved when they started the practice back in 1992. Let me see if I can find their link and provide you with it. Back in a second...

    SO much thanks NORDY!

I called and this will help a lot when I am visiting my sick parents. Have you gone there yourself?

Oh Moogie, no... Unfortunately I live on the opposite coast now. But I trained with Bonnie (with the Casley-Smiths!) before they opened the clinic just after I graduated from PTA school back in '92. At the time they trained just a couple people to be hired right away, and the rest of us to be hired when the clinic started to pick up. I found another position during/right after training - and was already working at the other facility when Bonnie called me a couple weeks later to offer me a position. I ended up staying at the other facility and so did not work there. But I consider this THE place to go if you need lymphedema treatment. They have been doing this longer than most places in the U.S. You will get excellent care there if you ever need it. (And let's hope you won't need it!)

I don't know about an MD, but I see Cynthia Schecter for PT at Madison Avenue Physical Therapy and Wellness.

Nordy I went to Lymphedema Therapy in Woodbury to treat my leg. They helped me tremendously.

Being I am having a BMX with lymph nodes removed. I know I will end up with lymphedema in my arm and need P/T.

Sad to say, the Woodbury office has closed. So disappointing. Dr Boris, Dr Weindorf and Bonnie Lasinski were extremely helpful.

Now on the hunt to find a P/T that treats breast cancer patients....
