Hi All,
Looks like I have a TON of catching up to do when I get home.... I'm in Delaware tonight on my way home from the beach but, wanted to just post really quickly from my daughter's computer (as she is very impatiently waiting...lol) to say CONGRATS on 24 hours, Jo!!
Will post more when I get home!!!
Sending strength and love to you all!

Hi seaside, hope you had a wonderful vacation, I too love the beach, my idea of the perfect place. We have a new member, Jo, who is in her second day of quitting. She has been doing a fantastic job. Very strong and determined to make quitting happen, that's over half the battle. You have been missed. You always have a way of "talking" to the person quitting that makes them feel so strong, proud, and capable of what they are doing. Karen

Great job (((JO)))!
-
Dear Jo, how goes it today? Karen
-
Got up this morning and had coffee & breakfast with DH smoking at the table. Did not bother me one bit. We went and played 18 holes of golf and not one craving - golf was a big trigger for me to smoke - especially if we had to wait for the next hole to clear. I have used my spray for the cravings twice today and as I write this I am up to 45 hours smoke free!!!!! Had lunch at Long John Silver's and noticed the fish tasted different - I know that is going to happen. I have already noticed my coffee has a different taste.
Was sleeping great with the help of amitripyline but the last couple of nights have been up more than usual - more bathroom trips - of course I am drinking a hell of alot more trying to clean out the body. Starting to cough all the crap up. All in all, I think I am really going to make it this time. The support on here has been great and I know I am not in the clear yet - there is still some work to be done.
-
Jo, hip hip hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to you, Karen
-
You can do this!!
-
I have to tell you ladies - compared to my nightmare experience with rads and all the side efffects - quitting smoking is truly a piece of cake. My BC journey has been filled with all kinds of "Murphy's Law" issues.
Going out to dinner with friends tonight and will be leaving at 5:00pm Texas time. That is when I reach the 48 hour mark but am on day 3 of my program. 4 more days to go and then do the maintenance part which is 2 - 4 weeks depending on how many capsules I take at a time.
I can't thank everyone enough for all your support and encouragement.
-
Good job Jo!!
-
Jo, you have done so well, you said you were going to quit and you did. We will continue to be here for you. More happy dancing!!!!!!!!! Karen
-
Karen - Hope I am not making you tired with all the happy dancing - it is fun though.
Pissed hubby off a bit today when I told him the smoke smell in the house was nauseating. I was trying to give him the hint to take it outside - with the hot temps here, I don't think that is going to happen anytime soon. Oh well, I can live with it.
-
You're right, Jo, you can handle it.
-
Hi ladies haven't been on much, hope your all well ?and I still haven't had a ciggy I'm proud
. -
You go girl!!
-
Angelice - That is great - you go girlfriend.
-
Angelece - you should be proud, keep on letting us know, you are doing a great job!!!!!! Jo, you are like the energizer bunny, you just keep on going, I'm so glad it hasn't been so difficult for you. Just shows how commited to quiting you are. hugs, Karen
-
Karen - I am soooo bad. I am now working on my new office assistants. Both of them smoke - he is worse than she is. I gave her my Filtrim device to the gal that works with me and she is going to get started. She may go ahead and get the natural herbs I got later on - time will tell.
Somehow got to get hubby from smoking in the house - it is day 4 and the smell is already bothering me. The herb detox part is working great.
-
Wow, a person slips away from the boards for a weekend and all sorts of great stuff happens!!!
Jo I am so proud of you, not only did you set your quit date, you beat your quit date and now you are getting others to join you!!! Fandamtastic!!!
otb sorry about the passing of your grandpa, it's tough when we lose the wisdom of our elders.
Angelice keep going, good to hear from you, stop in whenever you need us
Seaside glad to have you back, you'll have to tell us all about your vacation adventures.

kal - when I received the herbal program I thought, WTH so ahead and start. I may have lost my focus if I waited until Aug 1. This program has suxch a good cleansing part - I am already breathing better and feeling better. The one problem I am having is sleep. Just a quick history lesson on sleep.
Did not sleep well for many years for a variety of reasons - one being terrible hot flashes and multiple bathroom trips.
Had breast and toe pain issues which started one month after rads. Saw a pain specialist 5 months later and was prescribed amitriptyline for the pain. An added bonus is this medication has a sedative effect and is taken at night. Have had wonderful sleep - no hot flashes waking me up and maybe one bathroom trip. Fast forward to the last couple of nights. INSOMNIA BIG TIME. I go to bed at 10:00 and lay awake for 2 - 3 hours. Please don't tell me this is because I quit smoking - okay if it is caused by that - how long before I can get my sleep back? I was just getting used to a full night of sleep with all the extra energy.
-
Hi to all..read back a lil...congrats Jo!!! keep up the good work. I am smoke free 2 years 3 months. I love that I don't smoke and it smells awful. If I can do anybody can!!
Good luck to you all!
Hugs and love,
Candie

Insomnia is a nicotine withdrawal symptom, so is: irritability, frustration, anger, anxiety, depression, difficulty concentrating, restlessness, decreased heart rate, hunger or increase in appetite, inability to fall asleep or staying asleep and cravings.
Other physical recovery symptoms: increase in coughing, tightness in the throad, dry mouth, dizziness, being lightheaded, headaches, fatigue, time distortion, feeling like you have a cold or the flu, constipation or diarrhea, mouth sores, hypersensitivity to smells, or swollen tongue.
Symptoms are most intense the first 3 to 7 days, lessening over the next 2 to 4 weeks, but can last up to 6 months in a heavily nicotine dependent person.
-
Hang in there JO, you can do it and it is soooooo worth it!!!
I've been MIA and have missed a lot it seems! Hope everybody is doing well. I'm good. Chemo #5 for OvCa next week and then just one more, woo hoo!!
-
Dear Bama, been missing your posts, only one more treatment to go after this week's - doing the happy dance for you, I've been dancing all weekend for Jo. She has just been a dynamo with this quiting, and now passing on her treatment filter, more happy dancing. I better lose weight this week, between the dancing and the heat here. Hi kal, it was quite the weekend here, our friend Jo has been setting records. o2b, hope the weekend brought calm moments, along with tears and laughter. Kal is right - it is so hard to lose our elders, especially when they have been such an important part of our life. Seaside, glad your back, bet you wish it was a 2 week vacation on the beach. hugs to all, Karen
-
I must be a total weirdo - this is the 4th day and I don't miss smoking and have used my spray for the cravings 3 times today. Hubby is getting there - very small baby steps. He questioned my motives for quitting now since he has been after me for many years to quit. I told him I felt it was my time. In the past hubby would tell the doctors it was MY fault he could not quit and he never made the effort himself. I always told him this was something we had to do together but never did until now.
-
Jo, woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4 days, you did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, way to go girl. Too hot to do happy dance, maybe husband will try now. You have made it seem real easy to him, now you will be his support and encouragement. hugs, Karen
-
Karen - It is stupid hot here in deep South Texas. Don't even want to go outside. I could not imagine this would be so easy. I'm sure at the back of my mind I still want a cig but I keep that thought pushed back. I have to stay out of the kitchen as much as possible. Hubby is starting to get irriated with me - I keep moving his ashtray and he can't find it - his problem is - the damn thing is not where he left it and it is always in my way. I am really trying hard not be a pain in the ass about all this.
-
Bama - it is good to see you!! I have been thinking of you and wondering how you are...Yipee on one chemo then hopefully done for good!!!
Jo- you are doing great! I just wish could just summon up as much enthusiasm to lose weight

The weekend was great, lots of family and memories. It did get a little ruff with everyone smoking (3/4 of the family smoke) and the being around all the drinking but I stayed strong!!!
-
Michelle - WOO HOO on staying strong - we can do this.
