Today I get a mammogram with implants in place and an ultrasound.  The Dr. is sending me to a place that does mammograms where they are used to doing testing with implants.  I am having problems with my right breast again.  Could this be cancer coming back after only one and a half years?  Is it safe to have the mammogram with implants? I had DCIS.  would this show on the mammogram again with implants in place? Would the ultrasound show DCIS?  Nervous today.

I was told no mammos ever again.  Personally, I would refuse one anyone.  I'd be fine with ultrasound and/or MRI but no mammo.  My DCIS never showed on ultrasound or mammo for what it's worth.  Only a small percentage showed on MRI.

Same here!  No mammo's anymore and the MRI is really to tell if the implant has a problem because with the modern reconstruction the "chest wall" is right up against the skin (they put the implants behind the muscle - most of the time) so you see a lump or bump around the incisions rather than the cancer hiding under the breast tissue...   Breast Mri's are the way to go for implants AND I dare say they are the way to go for high risks as well.. Good luck and i hope everything goes well!!!
