Mollyann, I assume that goes for you as well?  If you would ever be so kind.  Thank you in advance.

Digger, the insults started exactly 13 hours ago with your support i may add. You did not answer my question.

I totally agree Merilee that the stress brought on by some to your most pleasant and friendly thread is detrimental to the rest of us, especially that we are so happy to welcome new posters who have so much to contribute and might be driven off. We urge you, please stay with us

MBJ on the Natural Girls thread has given her protocol from her well-known integrative doc in Los Angeles. She took a lot of time to type it up. I wonder if it would be okay to repost here.

Here is an interesting article on 5 benefits of kindness, they come from a book written by Dr David Hamilton.

Those of you with thyroid problems may want to check with her about the melatonin, as the above might have been posted prior to her adjusting the supp.

Dugger, then i would not see the insults you hurl at me, so i,m losing on both counts.

How sad that women having to deal with a life sentence would also have to deal with such hostility when trying to interact positively in a sharing manner with like-minded sisters. Quite an aberration actually

The thing that has been most effective for me are a pair of amazing energy healers who can be found at www.cancertouch.com

In-freakin-credible!   They have saved my life on two separate occasions, literally.  Kurt and Kris ROCK!

    Pink butterfly sez:

"Anyhow, the calcium- d glucarate is not actually a calcium supplement, but another molecule that is bound to calcium as a salt. Just wanted to clarify. "

Actually, calcium -d glucarate is a natural tamoxifen substitute.  It downgrades your estrogen levels.  There are also I3C and DIM for that ... and there is a Chinese herbal blend called Myomin that allegedly fills the estrogen receptors AND inhibits aromatase.  I used this one for a while to no avail, but then my cancer had become PR negative and only faintly ER positive.  Damn changing cancer characteristics!  LOL

    @ Kathy re calcium/magnesium

"This may be due to the fact that magnesium deficiency alters calcium metabolism and the hormones that regulate calcium"

sherriG, What is your PCP having you do? I will be having my blood test this week, and am not looking forward to seeing where my cholesterol level is. I've been on Femara for almost 9 months.

Sorry moderators I take issue with Claire of Seattle's response to Molly:

"Another marvelous example of how ignorance trumps evidence-based medicine in the minds of so many people."

As well as Digger's comment referring to me:

    "Just consider the source"

In all fairness my posts cannot be deleted when they are a response to overt provocation.

SherriG, so it's just Red Rice Yeast. I may try that myself. I'm on the statins as a preventative because of my brothers heart attack. I would really rather use something more natural.

Girls, help me, is this the thread where we had the hormones discussed ?  If so, just found this.  My onco will not only be squirming in his chair, calling all the mice and little birds !!!  Although I'm not on AIs yet, I'm sure the equivalent research exists with Tamox, just have to find it.

"Conclusions: This GWAS revealed novel loci associated with the baseline levels of E2 and E1-C in postmenopausal women that may be of importance for understanding the estrogen physiology of postmenopausal women and their response to aromatase inhibitor therapy"

It's so frustrating what our Dr's don't tell us about. All I can say is that god for BC.Org. I have learned so much from you all.

Luan .. I read the study you just posted .. and it's a little over my head.  I wonder if someone could explain the significance of it to me.

    Thanks,

    Same here Kira

I am not on Al yet either. I am doing radiation for 6 weeks starting a week from today. Then I will have to choose which Al. I can tell you that I will not be taking the full dose that the drug companies are pushing. One size fits all? I don't think so, I weigh 130 lbs.

Merilee one size fits all makes no sense to me either. I am on Femara, but my Onc. has said if the SE's are to much he will try one of the others. He doesn't seem to care which one I'm on as long as I use something. I'm 99% Estrogen driven, so realize how important getting the estrogen removed is. By the way my weight is higher than yours by about 50 pounds.

Right I am 95% so I need to do something as well, but it seems like I can't get anyone to tell me why one is better than the other. Or is it all the same stuff just called something else???I have so many answered questions.

    I'm 100% ER/PR + and I'm not taking Tamoxifen or Arimidex (AI).

I tried both, and after severe SE's and much thought and research, I quit taking either of them.

    I hear you BenVa

I was on tamoxifen for 6 weeks and had a terrible time.

May I ask what you are doing to keep healthy?

    http://www.breastcancer.org/treatment/hormonal/aromatase_inhibitors/

As far as which is better I think from what I can figure out it is which ever your Onc. likes the most. My first Onc. was going to proscribe a different one than my new Onc. chose. I guess Femara takes more of the estrogen from our bodies. I wasn't able to do chemo so his reasoning is use the strongest one.

Merilee .. unfortunately not too much.  I was pretty darn healthy when I got cancer, and I've just continued doing the same things.  I will say that I am trying to lose weight and have been successful .. yay ... I have 15 more lbs to go!
