TCH and pimples...anyone?
My first treatment was June 9. Since then I have broken out around my mouth, mostly. Those big deep ones, (postules I think they are called?) that take FOREVER to go away. My skin was oily when I was younger, but this is like being 14 again! Any suggestions? It's been ages since I bought acne medicine...thanks.

I got huge pimples on my scalp during treatment.I was never prone to any kind of acne breakouts, rarely had a pimple.I think mine were caused from mild dehydration and my scalp was trying to produce more oil. Before chemo my hair had a normal amount of oil.Now I can go days without having to wash it.I have been washing it with a foaming bath butter that I make.If I use store shampoo, even the really good ones made to moisturize,my head will break out.

I got them with TCH too but only at first. After the first round, they went away and actually, my skin was beautiful, clearer than it had ever been.
I have just started Navelbine and again, I'm breaking out. I can't figure out why - my guess is that it kills your white, infection fighting blood cells, which causes this flare on your skin. But, that doesn't explain why it goes away.

The oncology nurses told me that its not a "usual" side effect--so I thought it might be the miracle mouthwash or my toothpaste. But your white blood cells thoughts make some sense. Hope my skin clears up like yours, cuz hair is starting to leave, and this won't be a good combination!

I took Taxol and Herceptin and at the beginning of treatment my face broke out like crazy. I had oily skin when I was younger but hadn't broken out in ages. My skin went crazy for about a month near the beginning of treatment and then it cleared up. Hang in there!

I didn't have H, but had the TC. I broke after the first tx, but like coolbreeze after the first my skin was nice and clear. Now 6+ months out I am back to oily faced pimply teenager at 45! Nothing seems to work- I am allergic to benzoyl peroxide in most acne meds am trying salicylic acid- not working yet!

Tif--I will receive my third TCH this week, and the breakouts have gotten alot better. I went and got an acne wash, and my skin seems better than ever. (The clogged pores are opening up.) But I was using a benzoyl product which you are allergic to.
It will get better!
