    Romansma - Congratulations!!!

When tsundermann finishes tomorrow, will she be our final graduate?

To those just finishing, I can report that at 4 weeks out, my skin is almost back to normal.
I've still got a bit of the rash and everything is darker, but NO MORE ITCHING. I was lucky that I didn't have the large blisters and I really feel for you who are enduring that.

Here's to healing and long-lasting good health!

15 hours and counting until the last one!!!  When I went for my last chemo I had my kids make a card and I took in a huge platter of chocolate covered strawberries.  Well . . . I've got NOTHING planned for tomorrow.  It's not that everyone hasn't been great, but I just don't have it in me.  I don't want to ring the bell.  I don't want to sign the board.  I don't want the water bottle or the tote.  Just let me get back to living my normal pre-BC life.  I get a whopping 8 days off before I start Tami.  Can you tell I'm grumpy about having BC today???  LOL

Tammy - Sounds like you feel a bit like I did on my last day. Where I went, there was no bell ringing, board signing or parting gifts. It wasn't good-bye, but see you in 6 months.

I'll be thinking of you and sending a big hooray out your way.

Tammy~ you'll have a check up in a month or so, you can do the cookies then.  My last week of rads I was totally wiped out, fed up, and tired to the core....even after I finished for about a good week.  I bought simple vases for $3, and had coupons for bags of life savers.  I bought a variety and filled the vases layering the colors with the mints etc.  They were a big hit. Got the idea from one of the ladies on the board.

    Gina -

    How have you been doing?

I started my rads - even after being so freaked out and following your experience with it.  lol  I'm done with 11/33.  Nothing to really complain about yet.

With no positive nodes, you probably didn't have the supraclav/axilla treated, right?

Oh my goodness, I've been reading this thread just to see what I'm in for.  I'll be doing rads, but not until Sept I believe.  Surgery is scheduled for mid August.  You women are really wonderful.  I hope you don't mind me lurking and reading your posts.  I just had to comment on Romansma though, I just LOVE Matther McConaughay.  Isn't he just so cute?  And love his voice too!

Well The 3.5 hour drive to son's house went well... my blister is partially looking better and other part has spread toward my armpit and is all raw now... hopefully this stops soon.. Tired of the burn pain..

Having a great time watching son and granddaughter playing Little Big Planet....

pekug3~ Hi there!  I'm doing wonderfully!!!!!!!!!!!! Never thought I would EVER have any energy again.  As fast as all the symptoms came on they left just as quickly.  I am having a little bit of pain (down played- cause I'm not freaking you out anymore! lol).  No really, it's a stabbing pain, but I saw my RO today and he asked me first if I was having the pain, so it's common and unfortunately that's comforting.

Part of my reaction was the whole breast - really big breast - flab to flab problem!!  My MO even scheduled an appt in the middle of rads to make sure I was ok.  She was amazed at my skin and how it held up underneath the breast.  I didn't wear a bra the whole time like I was told, and I think with my humongous DDD's that was a good thing.  I found a zip up cami that held them in pretty good, and I used the cream he prescribed only.

So how are you feeling?  Fatigue kicked my butt during rads from day one!

Hi Kay, welcome! Yes, I looooove Mc Conaughey....just something about him. I had a dream about a year ago that had Matthew, me, AND my husband out on a date.....very strange, but it was a good nights sleep! Good luck with your surgery!

    Gina -

I've been doing ok.  My skin looks completely normal.  My nipple may be just a bit darker than the other one.  The nipple is tender but I reallt can't complain.

The RO told me this week that I could start having stabbing pain in the breast and the fatigue will pick up next week.

My ginormus DDD is handling everything fine so far.  I haven't worn a bra either.  Just a shelf cami.  Well, at times I have worn a very loose cotton bra that I wore after surgery over the top of the shelf cami.  But it's OFF once I get home.

Men's tshirts have been great for wearing to bed.  I don't know how to avoid the skin-to-skin thing without something on.  A men's tshirt tucked under and inbetween my breasts has been working so far.

I really did appreciate your experiences though.  I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the DDD when no one else seemed to have the same issue!  ;)

I did indeed finish!!!  With the time constraints of radiation treatment behind me now I am finally starting to enjoy my summer vacation.  Of course, I have two weeks before I head back to school, but it feels good nonetheless.

Thank you to everyone who posted on the May 2011 Radiation board.  It was nice to know that I wasn't going through this process alone :)

I'm so thankful I had the May 2011 Radiation group to help me get through these treatments. I echo tinaj and tsundermann's sentiments that by your presence and support you made the whole experience much easier and less lonely.

I was always tired after the treatments and I looked forward to coming home and checking out what you all had posted to the board. Now that I'm a month out, I'm checking the message boards less often, but I'm keeping this thread in my "Favorite Topics" in case anyone has news to post to this group in the future.

    All the best, Gabby
