I supervise breakfast at the elementary school where I work. I'm not the cook, just the crowd control. So much food is thrown away-it's a crime. Under federal guidelines, the kids HAVE to take the entree, a milk and/or juice, and some fruit. What they don't want to eat, they just throw away.
Probably 95% of the kids that eat breakfast at our school are free or reduced lunch recipients. I think the parents also look at breakfast time as cheap or free daycare. Where else can you get 1/2 hour of daycare for $1.75-or better yet-free? I'm not denying that these kids need breakfast, however.

Well no dinner for us tonight. Pigged out at lunchtime. Chinese "all you can eat".
-
Cheated big time. Vegetarian pizza. Yum.
-
Leftover bbq'ed chicken ... it was pretty good, even though I don't like leftovers. I shared with the dogs and they liked it too.
I'm getting so excited about the trip to Canada! I haven't been anywhere in so long. I can't wait to see everyone.

You girls wear me out and make me late getting ready for work every day

Good to hear your Tim is better Bren!!
I found your thread about your trip to Canada - I'm SO jealous!!! I loved Niagara on the Lake SO much. That's where I saw my first Christmas Shop and couldn't believe my eyes. We have since started to get some over here but not many.

I have to catch up 4 pages and that is just from today!
Ok, I give.......which thread is everyone talking about - someone PM me please - I can't stand it anymore. Curiosity killed the cat and I am that cat!
-
Ball tip steaks, baked potatoes and corn. BAKED POTATOES. That means I used the oven. The oven that didn't work for over a week. WOO HOO.
I hope I make it to Niagara on the Lake. I just need my enhanced driver's lisence to come in the mail. It should be here in about 2 weeks. I am excited. I haven't been anywhere except to see family since I was diagnosed.

Still waiting on a PM..... (stomping feet)

Ok, just in case you missed it in the Stop Sugar Support thread - I am down 18 lbs since the first of May! I tried for 2 years just exercising and portion control and never lost a pound! Now I can seriously think about PS!
-
WTG Jancie. Did anyone pm you with the answer you were looking for?
-
Congrats Jancie .. that's great news!
-
great Jancie.. you still sound quite sweet.
-
Congrats, Jancie! Losing weight is great.
-
Dinner - baked talapia, broccoli picked from my garden just minutees ago and whie wine from down under in h onor of susieq.
-
Congratulations Jancie.....Cherryl, that sounds like a heavenly menu.
I am half dead. On top of the power yoga class I took at dawn, I decided to take my favourite instructor's spinning class after work. One reason why he works us to death is because he keeps offering options. The harder option is always phrased as "If you're an overachiever, do this...." and like an idiot I (my pride, that is) take the bait every time and go for it.
Still, it has also helped ME lose considerable weight and be back to normal again.
Dinner will be Trader Joe's inimitable lasagna.
-
Jancie - WOW! congratulations - the 'green eyed devil' ( jealousy!!!!) is rampant here

Of course, if I even thought of exercise, it might help. Maybe tomorrow, or tomorrow, or...
Blue - have you considered any more about acupuncture for your shoulder? Esp. I think I remember your saying your health insurance would cover it. I'm still amazed at how much acupuncture has relieved the joint pain I used to have. I go about once a month now - and feel better each time. Went much more often in the beginning, don't need it as often now.
edited - I really can't spell...
-
I have to check with Medtronic to see if the electrical surges will conflict with my implant.
-
Blue .. I hadn't thought of that .. makes sense to check first.
hugs,
Bren

I didn't think of that either!!!! whew!!!!! I hope it will work for you.
Friend pm'd me to say a post I put on another thread was being interpreted as insulting - promised not to post there again, but sped back to remove it - and aplogize.
definitely need those macadamia nutz....
-
Yes, I can't have any more MRI's or any kind of laser treatment. I would think any kind of radiation either. My dentist wouldn't see me until he read what instruments he could use on me. Turns out there is only 1 he can't use. I'm going to see him tomorrow...oh joy!
-
Sorry - here I was posting about power yoga and spinning - hope that didn't sound insensitive Blue. At least I can use my shoulders fully....
-
Update: the Medical Industrial Complex thread has been locked - about time - thanks mods!
-
No worries Athena. I'm gonna go try yoga and get back some of my muscle. I couldn't before as I had balance issues or was very dyskinetic. I seem to have regained my balance. The only problem I am having is gait issues which should resolve in time....hopefully.
My MDS told me today, I have to reteach some of my body parts and exercise is the answer. That should help with the shoulder too.
-
well, just in time for me to get in my apology. Honest, I was trying to show empathy for a stage IV person, don't know her, who posted about not geting what she needed on the boards, or something like that - jeez, I got my head about lopped off for being "insulting." I really am going to be in just a very very few places from now on - anybody needs hep with SE's of Arimidex - hope that doesn't become a mine field too.
-
Thanks Mods!!
Blue~~ You're being so brave. If I had a dentist appointment tomorrow, I would be nervously crying right about now. Haha!! Hope things turn out great for you!
-
Thank you alamik.
Sunflowers, I HATE Arimidex!
-
Incredibly, yoga --and by this I mean power yoga-- has cured shoulder pains that I have had (in my case likely due to exercise). It's amazing how actually making the body part work can heal it. The 'downward facing dog" pose would seem to be hell on wheels for the chest and shoulders, but it has helped me. One is always accustomed to protecting weak parts, but that can make things worse, I have found.
In the annals of re-teaching and re-learning your body's abilities, power yoga is wonderful - or vinyasa helps too. I haven't tried the gentle type, but I am sure that helps even more, in some ways.
Good luck at the dentist's.

-
alamik, FWIW, I didn't think your post merited deletion, but oh well.... as long as that thread is no longer an issue.
-
ooooooohhhhh.....Blue, I can hear my granny, who has been in heaven for years, saying you're not supposed to use the H word
